      • 폴리스티렌 전기방사 섬유의 이온교환용량에 대한 전자선 조사의 영향

        In this study, enhanced cation exchange capacity of polystyrene (PS) electrospun fibers by electron beam irradiation was investigated. PS spinning solutions were prepared by dissolving 25 wt% PS in 75 wt% mixed solvents (dimethylacetamide (DMAc)/tetrahydrofuran (THF)) at the ratio of 33/67% v/v with divinylbenzene (DVB; 0, 1, 2 phr) as crosslink agent. The PS electrospun fibers were carried out at doses of 0 (control), 100 and 200 kGy. The ion exchange capacity (IEC) of PS electrospun fibers depend on the DVB concentration and irradiation dose. The PS electrospun fiber with DVB 1 phr at dose of 150 kGy showed the maximum IEC of 4.670 mmol/g.

        The Prevalence of Toxocariasis and Diagnostic Value of Serologic Tests in Asymptomatic Korean Adults

        Purpose: Toxocariasis is the most common cause of peripheral blood eosinophilia in Korea and produces eosinophilic infiltration in various organs, including the lung. However, the prevalence of toxocariasis in the general population is rarely reported. Methods: We investigated the seroprevalence of Toxocara larval antibody among asymptomatic people who attended Samsung Medical Center for a health checkup, including low-dose chest computed tomography (CT) between March 2012 and December 2013. A total of 633 people (400 men and 233 women) were prospectively recruited. Results: The Toxocara-seropositive rate was 51.2% using the current cutoff value based on Toxocara enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) (67.0% for men and 24.0% for women). In the multivariate-adjusted model, age (odds ratio [OR], 1.08; 95% confidence intervals [CI], 1.04- 1.11), male sex (OR, 3.47; 95% CI, 2.26-5.33), rural residence (OR, 1.55; 95% CI, 1.05-2.30), and history of raw liver intake (OR, 8.52; 95% CI, 3.61- 20.11) were significantly associated with Toxocara seropositivity. When subjects were divided into 3 groups using cutoff values base on weak positive and strong positive control optical densities (ODs), the ORs for peripheral blood eosinophilia and serum hyperIgEaemia were 0.31 (95% CI, 0.02- 2.89) in the weakpositive group and 36.64 (95% CI, 11.73-111.42) in the strong positive group compared to the seronegative group. Similarly, ORs for the solid nodule with surrounding halo were 2.54 (95% CI, 0.60-10.84) in the weak positive group and 15.08 (95 CI 4.09-55.56) in the strong positive group compared to the seronegative group. Conclusions: The study indicated that the Toxocara-seropositive rate obtained by using the current cutoff value based on ELISA was high in the asymptomatic population in Korea. The results of this study suggest that active toxocariasis may be more frequently seen in the Toxocara-strong positive group than in the Toxocara-weak positive group.

        뇌의 저등급 별아교세포종의 재발로 오인된 Gossypiboma: 증례 보고

        Gossypiboma is an inflammatory pseudomass formed by a retained surgical sponge or gauze with reactive tissue after surgery. Gossypiboma has been reported most frequently after abdominal or thoracic surgery. As such, gossypiboma following brain surgery is very rare. We report a case of gossypiboma mimicking tumor recurrence in the brain after a craniotomy and surgical excision of a low grade astrocytoma. Gossypiboma는 수술 과정에서 잔류된 거즈나 스펀지와 같은 다양한 종류의 이물질에 의해 염증반응을 일으키는 종물을 말한다. Gossypiboma는 복부나 흉부 수술과 관련하여서 많은 증례 보고가 있었다. 그러나 뇌수술 후에 발생한 gossypiboma는 매우 드문 병변이다. 저자들은 뇌의 별아교세포종의 외과적 절제 수술 이후 시행한 뇌 자기공명영상에서 조영증강되는 병변으로 보여 별아교세포종의 재발로 오인되었던 gossypiboma를 경험하였기에 이를 보고하는 바이다.

      • 빈곤 장애인을 위한 교회사회복지실천의 방안

        물질만능주의에 빠져서 상품가치를 생산하는 사람들의 가치와 지위는 인정해 주지만, 상품가치를 생산하는 데 어려움이 있는 사회의 구성원에 대해서는 냉 대하는 사회제도 속에서, ‘장애’와 ‘빈곤’이 중첩된 빈곤 장애인의 문제는 한국 교회가 더욱 관심을 쏟아야 할 분야이다. 본 연구에서는 빈곤 장애인을 위해 교회가 실천해야할 사역들을 논의하기 에 앞서 현재 우리나라에서 시행하고 있는 주요 장애인 소득보장정책과 고용정 책에 대한 논의들을 살펴보았다. 또한 빈곤 장애인을 위한 교회사회복지실천 기본 과제로 빈곤 장애인 문제에 대한 선교적 차원의 접근, 교회의 빈곤 장애인 관련 예산증액, 빈곤 장애인에 대한 교인들의 부정적 인식 개선, 빈곤 장애인 문제에 대한 연합적 사업 전개, 교회시설의 빈곤 장애인을 위한 사용, 빈곤 장 애인복지에 필요한 교회사회복지실천 전문인력 양성, 빈곤 장애인 문제에 대한 거시적・정책적 접근에 대한 교회의 기여, 빈곤 장애인 문제에 대한 교회의 국 제적 접근 등을 제시하였다. 그리고 교회가 실제적으로 수행할 수 있는 프로그 램들을 소득 보장, 의료적 지원, 교육 보장, 고용 보장, 일상생활 지원, 빈곤 장 애인가족 지원의 순으로 살펴보고 제시하였다. The problem of poor disabled people with overlapping issues of both ‘disability’ and ‘poverty’ require greater attention within the materialistic social system which acknowledges the value and status of those who produce commercial value but treats people who don’t do so as a nuisance. This study has examined current Korea’s main income security policy and employment policy for the disabled before discussing possible ministries that the church must carry out for the poor disabled people and basic tasks of church social welfare practice such as missionary task approach regarding the problem, church budget increase in related division, improvement of disability awareness of accepting poor disabled people, development of united program, use of church facilities for the poor disabled people, professional manpower training for social welfare for the poor disabled people, and church’s contribution on macro political and international approach regarding the matter are suggested. Moreover programs, which the churches can actualize have been examined and suggested in the order of income security, medical support, guarantee of education, daily life support, and poor disabled family support.

        Increase of Electrical Properties using a Novel Mixed Buffer System in an Enzyme Fuel Cell

        Environment-friendly biocatalytic energy is considered to represent an attractive alternative to chemical catalystbasedcells due to its renewability and better operation at low temperature. However, electrical biocatalysts have alow activity and electrical power. For increasing electrical properties of biocatalyst, a novel mixed buffer (phosphateand 3-morpholinopropanesulfonic acid (MOPS)) system was applied to an enzyme-based biofuel cell with microperoxidase(MP-11)-modified Au electrode. The cathodic electrical properties were increased by the phosphate andMOPS-mixed buffer solution. It was identified that the novel mixed buffer system obtained stronger ionic strength fromphosphate buffer and better enzyme activity from MOPS buffer. The highest results of cyclic voltammetry were obtainedwhen the proportion of phosphate to MOPS was nearly 1:1 and the pH was 7.0~7.3. In addition, the novelmixed buffer led to the maximum power density (ca. 62.7 μW/cm²) in a basic enzymatic fuel cell (EFC).

        Relationship between Agitation Speed and the Morphological Characteristics of Verticillium lecanii CS-625 during Spore Production

        Verticillium lecanii is recognized as an entomopathogenic fungus, and has high potential in the biological control of pests. In this study, it was investigated that the relationship between agitation speed in a 2.5 L stirred tank reactor (STR) at 25℃ and initial pH 5.5, and the morphological characteristics of V. lecanii CS-625, such as hyphal length/width, spore length/width, and the number of tips during spore production. The agitation speed affected the hyphae patterns and the number of tips. The number of spores rapidly increased at 48 to 60 h of cultivation, and the highest spore productivity (2.5 × 1010 spore/L·h at 60 h) occurred with an agitation speed of 350 rpm and an aeration rate of 1.0 vvm. The number of tips increased in proportion to the increase in spore production during the same culture time. The highest number of tips (4.8 × 108 tip/mL) was obtained at 72 h of cultivation. The shortest mean spore length (2.8 μm) was obtained at 60 h of cultivation. Therefore, it was determined that the increased number of tips and decreased mean spore length were closely related to the production of V. lecanii spores.
