The management of asthma focuses on the reduction of airway inflammation accompany with symptomatic care after recognition. Glucocorticosteroid is the most important drug to reduce airway inflammation, and it has been used inhaled, orally and systemically. New knowledge about the pathogenesis of allergy and asthma has made the development and clinical trial of target or immunomodulator therapy. It includes cytokine, cytokine blockers, specific cytokine receptor blocker, and immunostimulatory oligodeoxynucleotides. These agents are thought to hold the promise for more beneficial outcomes in the future, although it showed limited therapeutic benefits only for patients, especially intractable or severe asthma, until now.

Background: Asthma is a common complex genetic disease. While the T-helper cell 1 pathway is determined by cytokine interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), the T-helper cell 2 pathway is determined by IL-4. These comprise two alternative CD4+ T-cell fates with functional consequences for the host immune system. We investigated the effect of interaction between and IL-4 SNPs on asthma or atopy. Method: Three hundred asthmatics and 300 unrelated normal controls were enrolled. Two candidate SNPs of the IFN-γ gene and two SNPs of the IL-4 gene were selected. Gene-gene interactions were tested using the multi-factor dimensionality reduction (MDR) method and interaction information analysis on the basis of Shannon entropy. Result: In MDR analysis, a combination of IFN-γ+2459A>G and IL-4-589C >T was the best model to predict atopy. In interaction information analysis, there was a strong effect of interaction between theses two SNPs on atopy. This combination showed a stronger effect than each SNP alone. In addition, IL-4-589C >T showed a strong effect on atopy with IFN- γ+2671C >T and with IFN- γ+2459A >G. Theses effects were prominent in normal controls. Conclusion: From the findings of a statistical interaction model, it is suggested that IFN-γ and IL-4 gene SNPs may contributes to the development of atopy by interacting with each other. The core of the internal marketing is to increasing incentives toward workers for improving the moral and motivating workers to provide high quality service for the customers. This study aims to show the relationships between demographic factors and motivation factors and to examine the relationships between motivation by internal marketing activities and worker`s attitude & service mind about customers. In this regarding, foreign brand family restaurants were chosen to examine how manage service staff. The assumptions are based on the followings; If workers are properly socialized, trained, and educated, their attitude and behavior will be not only different by the motivation especially in the making a decision but also energetic in the working place. One of the characteries in the food service industry is to $quot;people oriented business$quot;, so the need for human resources is much greater than that of other industries, as well as financial resources, training system, and education system are not enough. The reason that do not give excellent service is that do not invest sufficiently in the education and training program, Above all, what`s most important is that service staffs should manage with proper $quot;sense of value$quot; according to the situations.
아동과 부모의 특성이 채혈 시 아동의 반응에 미치는 영향

This study was carried out to confirm the arguments that the role of the parents in sampling blood specimens from their children should be increased to reduce the anxiety and fear of children. The support and confidence of the parents, the reaction of the children and the subsequent action by phlebotomists should help to make an efficient sampling process for children. We randomly selected 50 children and their parents and had them fill out questionnaires before and after phlebotomy. The results were: 1. Detailed explanation by parents made children more active in sampling; 2. Higher confidence levels made parents more active in supporting children and relieving them from pain; 3. Confidence levels were higher in male children than in female children; 4. The confidence levels of parents were higher in parents of children with experience of multiple samplings and the highest level of confidence was observed in parents of children aged 61 to 120 months; 5. Only children showed the highest reaction level and very negative reactions; 6. The reaction of the phlebotomist was positive with children in good moods and negative with ones in bad moods. These results could serve as a basic tool in coping with children in phlebotomy.

Background: Air pollution is an important risk factor for asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and cardiovascular diseases. Air pollution can aggravate the symptoms of asthma, COPD, and cardiovascular diseases. Objective: A retrospective study was undertaken to investigate the relationship between monthly air pollutant concentrations and monthly hospitalizations for selected disease categories in Bucheon, Gyenggi-do. Method: Monthly measurements of particles (PM10), sulfur dioxide, ozone, and nitrogen dioxide (NO2) concentrations were obtained between Jan. 2003 and Aug. 2003 via the metropolitan network of monitoring stations. Hospital morbidity data for asthma, cardiovascular, COPD were obtained and categorized into all ages greater than 10 years. Result: There were significant associations for monthly changes in PM10 concentrations of emergency visits of female asthmatic patients (r=0.715, P=0.046) and outpatients visits of male asthmatic patients (r=0.714, P=0.047). There were significant associations for monthly changes in ozone concentrations and outpatient visits of COPD (r=0.723, P=0.043) and angina pectoris (r=0.802, P=0.017). Changes in NO2, sulfur dioxide concentrations were not significantly associated with any disease outcomes. Conclusion: These data provide useful information on the potential health impact of air pollution on asthma, COPD, cardiovascular diseases, and the control of air pollution is an important issue for prevention of respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.
