        ICR마우스에서 phenytoin의 최기형성 및 dimethyl sulfoxide의 항최기형 효과

        Phenytoin(PHT), a commonly prescribed anticonvulsant, has been known as a teratogen in experimental animals and human. However, PHT has strain-specific teratogenic effects for mice and human. Dimethyl sulfoxids(DMSO) has been known to antagonize the teratogenic effects of secalonic acid D, a toxic mold metabolite that has similar teratogenic effects to PHT. Therefore, this study was performed to examine the embryopathic effects of PHT in terms of treatment period and the antiteratogenic effect of DMSO in ICR mice. PHT(75mg/kg, BW) was administered intrapetitoneally on day 10, 10-11 and 10-12 of gestation with or without DMSO(2ml/kg, BW), and the fetal malformation was observed on day 18. Major malformation of fetuses treated with PHT on day 10, 10-11 and 10-12 of gestation was cleft palate, and the percentages of fetus with cleft palate were 14.5%, 31.7% and 51.7%, respectively. Also, there was a significant decrease of cleft palate from 51.7% in PHT alone group to 30.8% in PHT plus DMSO group. Our findings suggest that cleft palate is one of major malformation by PHT treatment in ICR mouse and DMSO has strong antiteratogenic effect.

        Phenytoin의 태아 구개열 유발과 모체 혈청 Corticosterone 증가에 대한 Dimethyl Sulfoxide 억제 작용

        It is well known that phenytoin (PHT), a commonly prescribed anticonvulsant, has teratogenicity in experimental animals and human. The major malformation induced by PHT in mouse is cleft palate. The mechanisms of the embryotoxic effects of PHT are unknown. However, PHT and synthetic glucocorticoids share several features with respect to their teratogenicity, and it was known that PHT increased maternal corticosterone level. Therefore PHT-induced cleft palate may be mediated indirectly by elevated maternal corticosterone. Recently it was reported that secalonic acid Dinduced cleft palate and elevated endogenous corticosterone level, and that such effects were antagonized by DMSO. The purpose of this work was to investigate whether the elevated maternal corticosterone is associated with the teratogenicity of PHT in the ICR mouse fetuses by treatment with PHT or PHT plus DMSO. PHT (74mg/kg, BW) was daily administered intraperitoneally on day 10~12 of gestation with and without DMSO(2ml/kg, BW), and the fetal malformation was observed on day 18. Maternal serum corticosterone and fetal PHT levels were determined by HPLC. The results are summarized as follows. 1)The percentage of cleft palate incidense in fetuses following treatment with PHT on day 10~12 of gestation was 51.7%. 2)There was a significant decrement in the cleft palate incidence in fetuses to 30.8% in the group treated with PHT plus DMSO compared with 51.7% in that with PHT alone. 3) Maternal serum corticosterone levels following treatment with PHT on day 10~12 of gestation increased by 116~343% compared with that of vehicle control. Such effect was antagonized by DMSO. 4)PHT concentration in the fetuses was not affected by DMSO. These results suggest that PHT-induced cleft-palate in fetuses seems to be closely associated with the elevation of maternal corticosterone level.

        인후두역류질환의 진단 및 치료 경향; 이비인후과 전문의 설문조사 결과

        Background and Objectives: Although laryngopharyngeal reflux disease (LPRD) is a widely recognized disease in the field of otolaryngology, controversies still exist regarding the diagnosis and treatment for it. The purpose of this survey was to find out current trends in diagnosis and management of LPRD among Korean otolaryngologists. Materials and Method: Questionnaires were obtained from 26 Korean otolaryngology specialists by electronic balloting, and 46 members of the Korean Society of Head and Neck Surgery (KSHNS) bye-mail. Survey participants were asked about their preferences in diagnostic policy, duration/dosage of antireflux treatment, and their familiarity to the reflux symptom index (RST) and the reflux finding scores (RFS). Results: The majority of the survey participants (64%) preferred empiric therapy trial with proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) based on patients' symptoms and their laryngeal findings. PPIs alone (27%) or PPIs with prokinetics (32%) were usually prescribed as a first line treatment mostly with once daily schedule in the morning before meal and for less than 4 months of duration (86%). More than 90% of participants were aware of the RSI and RFS, but less than 50% of them were actually using those items in the clinics. Conclusion: Most of Korean otolaryngologists who participated in this survey answered that they prefer starting empirical treatments with proton pump inhibitors mainly based on the patient's symptoms and their laryngeal findings.

        Interleukin-8-like chemotactic factor from feline peripheral blood mononuclear cells cultured with egg white derivatives

        계난백유래물질(EWD)로 배양한 고양이 말초혈액 단핵구세포(MNC)의 배양상충액에서 다형핵백혈구(PMN)에 대한 유주성인자를 조사하였다. EWD로 배양한 MNC 배양상층액과 human recombinant (hr) interleukin (IL-8)는 고양이 PMN의 유주성을 현저하게 증가시켰다. 이 유주활성물질을 규명하기 위해 EWD 처리 MNC 배양상충액을 gel electro-phoresis(denaturing 조건 18% loading gel 및 nondenaturing 조건 12.5% loading gel)를 실시한 결과, EWD로 배양한 MNC 배양상충액과 hr IL-8는 모두 분자량 6~8kDa에서 band를 나타내었다. Denaturing 조건에서 6~8kDa band의 gel slices에서 용출시킨 용출액에서도 고양이 PMN의 유주활성이 인정되었다. EWD로 배양한 MNC 배양상층액, hr IL-8 및 용출액에 의한 유도된 고양이 PMN의 유주활성은 rabbit anti-feline polyclonal IgG(RAF pIgG)와 hr IL-8에 대한 mAb에 의해 농도의존적으로 억제되었다. 또한 RAF pIgG는 hr IL-8와 결합을 보임으로써 사람의 IL-8와 교차반응을 시사하였다. 이상의 결과로부터 EWD로 배양한 고양이 MNC는 분자량 6~8kDa의 IL-8 양(樣) 유주성인자를 분비하여 PMN의 유주성을 유도하는 것으로 사료되었다. The feline chemotactic factor(s) for polymorphonuclear cells (PMN) in culture supernatant from mononuclear cells (MNC) treated with egg white derivatives (EWD) were examined. Culture supernatant from MNC treated with EWD and human recombinant (hr) IL-8 remarkably enhanced chemo-taxis of feline PMN. To investigate feline chemotactic factor(s), gel electrophoresis was performed with culture supernatant from MNC treated with EWD under denaturing (18% loading gel/5% stacking gel) and nondenaturing (12.5% loading gel/5% stacking gel) condition. Hr IL-8 and culture supernatant from MNC treated with EWD yielded a distinct band in a molecular weight, 6 to 8 kDa. Eluted solution from gel slices of 6 to 8 kDa band in denaturing condition also enhanced feline PMN chemotaxis. These chemotactic activities of feline PMN induced by culture supernatant from MNC treated with EWD, hr IL-8 and eluted solution were inhibited in a dose-dependent manner by rabbit anti-feline polyclonal IgG (RAF pIgG) and monoclonal antibody (mAb) against hr IL-8. RAF pIgG also showed a binding activity with hr IL-8, suggesting that RAF pIgG against feline IL-8-like chemotactic factor(s) had cross-reactivity with human IL-8. These results suggested that feline MNC treated with EWD might release feline IL-8-like chemotactic factor(s) with a molecular weight, 6 to 8 kDa, which induces the chemotaxis of feline PMN.

        Motion sickness is the feeling you get when the motion you sense with your inner ear is different from the motion you visualize. It is a common condition that occurs in some people who travel by car, train, airplane or boat. Motion sickness progresses from a feeling of uneasiness to sweating and dizziness. This is usually quickly followed by nausea and vomiting. Many motion sickness medication which are effective for motion sickness. However, most motion sickness medications carry the possibility of side effects. Therefore in this study we demonstrated the pharmacokinetic effect of motion sickness medications of cardiovascular system using a water flea.

        Post-genome 시대에는 유전체뿐만 아니라 단백질에 대한 연구의 필요성이 증대되고 있다. 특히 단백질-단백질 상호작용 및 단백질 네트워크에 대한 연구를 기반으로 전체 생물 시스템을 분석하는 연구가 중요한 이슈로 떠오르고 있다. 기존에 생물학자들이 실험을 통해서 증명한 사실들을 논문이나 기타 매체를 통해서 공개를 하고 있다. 하지만 공개된 정보의 양이 방대하므로 생물학자들이 정보를 효율적으로 이용하지 못하는 경우가 많다. 인터넷의 발달로 하루에도 수 없이 쏟아져 나오는 연구 성과들에 쉽게 접근이 가능해졌다. 이러한 매체로부터 생물학적 의미를 가지는 정보를 효과적으로 추출하는 일이 중요하게 대두되었다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 인터넷상에 공개된 다량의 논문 및 기타 정보 매체로부터 단백질-단백질 상호작용 정보를 추출한 데이터베이스로부터 단백질의 네트워크를 구성하고 단백질 네트워크를 통해서 생물학적 의미를 가지는 여러 가지 경로 분석 알고리즘을 설계하고 구현한다. In the post-genomic era, researches on proteins as well as genes have been increasingly required. Particularly, work on protein-protein interaction and protein network construction have been recently establishing. Most biologists publish their research results through papers or other media. However, biologists do not use the information effectively, since the published research results are very large. As the growth of internet, it becomes easy to access very large research results. It is significantly important to extract information with a biological meaning from varisous media. Therefore, in this research, we efficiently extract protein-protein interaction information from many open papers or other media and construct the database of the extracted information. We build a protein network from the established database and then design and implement various pathway analysis algorithms which find biological meaning from the protein network.

        A sense is a physiological ability of living things that provides information for consciousness. Human senses are traditionally clssified as sight(ophthalmoception), hearing(audioception), taste(gustaoception), smell(olfacoception), and touch(tactioception). The senses allow human to learn, to protect, to enjoy fun things. Sensor organs operate by coordinative activity of nerve system, cognitive psychology, and philosophy of perception. The nervous system has a specific sensory system or organ, dedicated to each sense. In this study 1 introduce new program to educate the sensor organs for the students of the course of gifted and talented education. This program will be contribute to understand of touch sense.

        IPA 기법을 이용한 볼링장 선택 속성의 중요도와 만족도 분석

        The purpose of this study was to provide effective information on the marketing strategy through IPA analysis of the attributes of bowling arena. toward this end, a total of 326 respondents was selected using a convenient sampling method and responded to the survey questionnaire. 326 usable data were utilized in data analysis procedure. data were analyzed using, exploratory factors analysis, reliability analysis, descriptive statistics analysis and IPA analysis. The result of this study were as follows. Firstly. 1 quadrant included employee kindness, lane condition, internal environment, location convenience, parking convenience. Secondly. 2 quadrant included fee, sale promotion. Thirdly. 3 quadrant included food & beverage service, reserve system, event, ball condition, food & beverage cost, public transportation convenience. Fourthly. 4 quadrant included rest area, rain scale. discussions and additional implications were also suggested.

      • 모바일 RFID를 활용한 사용자 생성 정보 시스템 설계 및 구현

        RFID는 물류와 유통분야에서 활용이 되고 있으며 RFID 시장에서 미개척 분야인 모바일 RFID 시장을 선점하기 위하여 정부주도로 모바일 RFID 시범서비스를 2006년부터 시행하고 있다. 모바일 RFID 시범서비스는 모바일 RFID 코드 해석을 위하여 Broker를 활용하는 모델을 사용하였다. 하지만 기존의 Broker 모델에는 RFID 태그 정보 조회를 위한 빈번한 ODS 질의, 그에 따른 통신 트래픽 문제, 서비스 속도 문제가 있었다. 본 논문은 Broker 모델의 성능을 개선하기 위하여 단말 어플리케이션에 RFID 코드를 필터링하는 기능을 구현하였고 단말 어플리케이션과 Broker간의 데이터 처리 과정을 단순화하여 성능을 개선하였다. 또한 모바일 RFID 서비스의 활성화를 위하여 사용자 생성 정보 시스템을 제안하고 구축하였다.
