정신장애인을 대상으로 그들의 회복 지향점이고 목표인 지역사회통합을 이루는 데 스트레스, 사회적 자원 및 지역사회통합 간의 관계를 스트레스 대처이론으로 검증하였다. 상당수의 기존연구들이 스트레스 대처이론을 이용하여 연구하였지만 정신장애인을 대상으로 스트레스 대처이론을 검증한 연구는 거의 없으므로, 이 연구를 통해 스트레스 대처이론이 정신장애인에게도 적용되는지 파악하고자 한다. 이를 위해 서울ㆍ인천ㆍ경기지역과 충청도에 위치한 사회복귀시설 또는 정신보건센터를 이용하는 정신장애인 415명의 자료를 분석에 사용하였다. 구조방정식 모형을 사용하여 정신장애인의 지역사회통합에 대한 예측요인을 분석한 결과, 스트레스 요인인 증상과 낙인은 모두 지역사회통합에 직접적인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났고, 스트레스 요인인 증상이 많이 발생할수록, 그리고 낙인의 지각이 높을수록 지역사회통합이 낮아지지만 부모, 형제, 전문가 등의 사회적 지지는 정신장애인의 지역사회통합을 부분적으로 매개하는 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과를 바탕으로 정신장애인의 회복의 지향인 지역사회통합에 스트레스 요인이 부정적 영향을 미치는 과정에서 사회적 지지는 스트레스 요인을 완화시켜주는 대처자원임을 확인 하였고, 이를 위한 실천적 함의를 논의하였다. The relationship of stress and social resources to community integration among the person with Psychiatric Disabilities were analyzed based on a stress-coping theory, as community integration is the ultimate goal of their rehabilitation. Stress-coping theories have been utilized in lots of earlier studies, but few studies have ever attempted to apply this kind of theory to the person with Psychiatric Disabilities. Therefore it`s meant in this study to analyze whether a stress-coping theory could be applied to the person with Psychiatric Disabilities. What factors predicted the community integration of the person with Psychiatric Disabilities were analyzed by using a structural equation model. As a result, both of symptoms and perceived stigma that were stressors were found to exert a direct influence on community integration, and more symptoms and more perceived stigma that were stressors led to less successful community integration. But social support from parents, siblings and experts had a partial effect on the community integration of the person with Psychiatric Disabilities. The above-mentioned findings of the study ascertained that social support was one of coping resources available to relieve the stressors while the stressors had a negative impact on community integration which was the ultimate goal of the rehabilitation of the person with Psychiatric Disabilities. And the practical implications of the findings of the study were discussed.
