학습자들의 학습 동기와 집중력에 영향을 미치는 요인들

본 논문은 온라인 강좌와 전통적인 교실 수업에서 한국인 영어 학습자들의 학습 동기와 집중력에 영향을 미치는 요인들을 연구한다. 더 나아가 수업 유형에 따른 그 요인들의 차이를 비교 분석하는 것도 본 연구의 중점 사항이다. 총 40명의 참여자들은 ‘자기 자신감’, ‘흥미와 만족’, ‘강의내용’, ‘교수자 유형’, ‘평가’, ‘과제물’, ‘기타사항’ 등 7개 항목에 응답하였으며, 독립 표본 t-검정을 사용하여 그 결과물을 분석하였다. 주목할 만한 사항은 전통적인 수업 교실의 학습자들은 교수자와 감정적인 유대감을 형성하여 온라인 강좌 보다 더 높은 학습 동기와 집중력을 형성하였다. ‘교수자로부터의 칭찬과 보상’, ‘교수자와 공감하는 소통’, ‘교수자의 진실되고 일관적인 강의 태도’, ‘교수자의 체계적이고 명확한 강의’ 등이 학습 동기와 집중력에 영향을 미치는 그 요소들로 확인된다. This study aims to investigate which factors determine Korean EFL learners’ academic motivation and concentration in e-learning and traditional classroom. By extension, the comparative analysis of the factors in the different types of classrooms is also the focus of this paper. In doing so, we embarked on taking a close look at a total of 40 participants’ responses to seven categories with the help of two-independent samples t test: self-efficacy, interest and satisfaction, lecture preparation, teacher type, evaluation, task assignment, and miscellaneous questions. The salient feature to be drawn from the analysis underlines the claim that the students in traditional classroom benefit more from being emotionally connected with a teacher, thus facilitating their higher academic motivation and concentration. The fact lies in the factors identified as in ‘praise and reward from a teacher’, ‘sympathetic communication with a teacher’, ‘a teacher’s sincere and consistent lecture attitude’, ‘a teacher’s straightforward lecture’.

말뭉치 기반의 인용구 ‘be like’ 분석

본 연구는 인용구 be like의 문법적 자질과 사회언어학적 특성을 분석하는데 목적을 둔다. 자연스러운 대화 문맥으로 구성된 Buckeye 말뭉치에서 총 485개의 be like 예문을 확인하였다. 우선, be like는 과거 또는 미래 시제보다 현재 시제에서 주로 사용되며, 그것의 인용 문장과의 시제 일치도 화자들에 의해 선호된다. 주어도 3인칭이 가장 많은 빈도로 사용되며, 대부분 허사 it으로 구성되어 있다. be like의 사용과 관련된 사회적 요인에서, 오직 나이 요소가 그 쓰임과 긴밀한 연관성을 가지고 있으며, 특히 젊은 화자들이 be like을 더 빈번히 사용한다. 흥미롭게도, be like은 남성 화자들에게까지 사용 영역이 확장되어, 성별과 관련된 be like 쓰임의 차이는 없다. 더불어, 학력 배경, 직장의 상태와 관련하여 의미 있는 결과가 도출되지 않았다. 향후 연구에서는 화용론적 측면에서 be like의 인용 구문 내용을 설명하는 것이 필요하다. This study aims to analyze the grammatical properties and sociolinguistic distribution of be like quotative with the help of Buckeye Corpus of spontaneous speech. In doing so, we identified a total of 485 tokens from dialogue contexts. First and foremost, present tense of be like as well as tense agreement between be like and its quote is favoured over past and future tense. Third person subject has the highest frequency overall, being largely made up of expletive it. For the case of social factors, only age is strongly correlated with the use of be like, proving that young speakers use it more frequently. Interestingly, be like has been further extended to males, so there is no gender bias. More to the point, no significant results were drawn in educational background and employment status. Further research needs to be given to explain the content of be like quote in the discourse aspect.

Wine Quality Assessment Using a Decision Tree with the Features Recommended by the Sequential Forward Selection

Nowadays wine is increasingly enjoyed by a wider range of consumers, and wine certification and quality assessment are key elements in supporting the wine industry to develop new technologies for both wine making and selling processes. There have been many attempts to construct a more methodical approach to the assessment of wines, but most of them rely on objective decision rather than subjective judgement. In this paper, we propose a data mining approach to predict human wine taste preferences that is based on easily available analytical tests at the certification step. We used sequential forward selection and decision tree for this purpose. Experiments with the wine quality dataset from the UC Irvine Machine Learning Repository demonstrate the accuracies of 76.7% and 78.7% for red and white wines respectively.

상위담화표지가 한국인 영어학습자의 독해에 미치는 영향

상위담화표지는 필자와 독자와의 관계를 이해하는데 필수적인 요소이다. 본 연구는 상위담화표지의 유·무가 한국인 영어 중급·상급 학습자들의 독해 능력에 영향을 미치고 있는 지에 대해 논의한다. 이에, 총 88명의 실험 참가자들은 그들의 영어 숙달도와 상위담화표지의 유·무에 따라 네 집단으로 나뉘어져, 주어진 독해 지문을 읽고 이해도를 측정하는 11개의 질문지에 답하였다. 독립표본 t-검정결과에 따르면 중급과 상급 영어 학습자들의 독해 능력은 상위담화표지의 유·무에 따른 영향을 받지 않는 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 이원 분산 분석의 결과, 오직 영어 학습자의 숙달도만이 독해 능력에 영향을 미치는 유의미한 변인임이 확인되었다. Metadiscourse markers are considered as an indispensable element to lead us to a fully satisfactory understanding for the relationship between a writer and reader. This study aims to investigate the effect of metadiscourse markers on reading comprehension (with two levels of proficiency: intermediate and high) when faced two text types (metadiscourse- enriched and metadiscourse-removed texts). To this end, a total of eighty-eight participants was divided into four groups based on their English proficiency and text types, and asked to answer eleven comprehension check-up questions after reading the given texts. According to two-independent samples t test, there was no significant difference within both intermediate and advanced groups regardless of whether the metadiscourse markers are given in texts. However, another result drawn from two-way analysis of variance underlines the claim that only learners' proficiency level benefits more from the presence of the metadiscourse markers.

By-products produced from medicinal plants (MP) were evaluated as feed additives on growth performance, blood chemistry, and immune responses of the juvenile red lip mullet Liza haematocheila. A commercial diet was used as the control. Four experimental diets were prepared by combining 0.5% of MPs such as Panax ginseng (PG), Schisandra chinensis (SC), Angelica gigas (AG), and Rehmannia glutinosa (RG), via water absorption, to the control diet. Triplicate groups of fish averaging 61.8 g were fed one of experimental diets to apparent satiation for 8 weeks. Dietary supplementation of MPs did not affect the growth performance, biological indices and whole body composition of fish compared to the control. The fish fed with AG diet had an increased weight gain, and specific growth rate compared to fish in SC group. Decreased level of plasma glucose was observed in fish fed diet containing MPs. Lysozyme activity was significantly increased in the fish fed AG diet compared to that of fish in PG group. These results indicate that dietary supplementation of Angelica gigas may enhance growth performance and immune responses in juvenile red lip mullet.

Smart healthcare environments which merge medical and IT technology are getting ready for the third generation centering EHR from current second generation. As a basic technology for the introduction and activation of EHR systems it requires heterogeneous network interworking techniques between various wired and wireless medical devices. Interworking technology for heterogeneous network among various medical devices is needed to introduce EHR system. The heterogeneous network interworking technology is needed for construction of a reliable data system to convert each of unstructured data into structured data. Therefore, in this paper, we identify the domestic and international trends of smart medical field and analyze the characteristics of wired and wireless communication technology that is used in a heterogeneous network. and also suggest requirements needed for interworking technology and provide interworking technology based on them. we expect that proposed method which is designed for smart healthcare environments would provide a basic architecture needed for third smart medical technology generation.

가상 머신을 위한 I/O요청 예측 기법

클라우스 서비스와 크로스 플랫폼이 확산되는 추세와 맞물려 가상 머신의 File I/O 성능 개선을 위한 노력이 다각도로 모색되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 운영 오버헤드는 줄이면서도 정확도가 높은 File I/O 예측 기법을 유전알고리즘 기반으로 제안한다. 특히, 선택 연산만이 대기 시간에 포함되고, 기타 연산은 후면 처리로 수행함으로써 워크로드에 따라 대기 시간을 크게 줄일 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.
