The University Identity System(UIS) is a system which visually interprets educational ideology, philosophy, and vision based on the given authenticity and historicity. To analyze competitive branding between world-renowned universities, we carried out fundamental research for a case study of the world's leading universities' UI(University Identity). Based on this, we have developed an UIS that contains Korea University's academic uniqueness and cultural identity differentiated from other universities. The purpose of this paper is to explore the significance of the future of operational plans. A Case Study of the UIS aims to produce symbolic images of 22 colleges and 28 graduate schools(general, specialized, and professional) through the planning and procedures behind design development. The research method follows ‘Design process’, which has steps such as Discover, Define, Design, and Delivery. UIS has three innovative development elements. The first element is a functional system that visually distinguishes each college's academic characteristic. The second is an information delivery system for each college's corresponding academic classification of international color standards. Finally, each college's traditional cultural motif are designed through the development of the process of symbolic ideation. The conclusion, a systematic UIS can bring a couple of benefits to the university‘s community. Internally, the systematized UIS allows university members to share a common sense of values through a unified visual expression, thereby establishing a consistent educational culture and accompanying the goal and a positive feeling of belonging and pride. Externally, the UIS is expected to launch the university’s unique brand for its communication system by implementing the University Design Branding Strategy, thus differentiating itself from other universities by establishing an identity.

In this study, antimicrobial resistance of E coli isolated from domestic beef on sale in Busan and Gyeongnam province was investigated from March to October 2007. A total of 600 beef samples were collected for the monitoring of antimicrobial resistance, and 92(15.3%) strains of E coli were isolated. Antimicrobial resistance test was carried out by agar disc diffusion method with 17 antimicrobials. In general, E coli isolates showed the highest antimicrobial resistance to doxycycline(73.9%), followed by tetracycline(70.7%) andcefazolin(63.0%). Then they showed higher resistance to several antimicrobials like norfloxacin(48.9%). However, They had low antimicrobial resistance to amikacin(4.3%), colistin(1.1%). Of 92 isolates, 82(89.1%) were resistant to more than 2 antimicrobials. Among 17 antimicrobials examined, tetracyclines were the most resistant, followed by cephalosporins, quinolone. The resistance was seemed to be correlated to amounts of antimicrobial use. In the result of this study, we suggest that there be need to regulate the abuse of antimicrobial on food-producing animals in Korea because the concern on antimicrobial resistant is gradually increased worldwide.
