Antibiotic resistance of bacteria in the biofilm mode of growth contributes to the chronicity of infection and disease. The penetration of antibiotic, through biofilm developed in an in vitro model system was investigated. Antibiotic resistant bacteria (E. coli) were obtained from Culture Collection of Antibiotic Resistant Microbes. Ca-alginate bead used as simulated biofilm and a cell entrapment test using compressed air were experiment for the improvement cell viability. Antibiotic susceptibilities though biofilms was measured by assaying the concentration of antibiotic that diffused through the biofilm to minimal inhibition concentration (MIC). Survival of immobilized cells were reduced as compared to free cells. In case of antibiotic susceptible E. coli reduced continuously, but antibiotic resistant E. coli kept up survival rate constantly. Survival was showed after exposed to the antibiotics that the more treated antibiotic resistant E. coli and low concentration of antibiotics, the more survived.

In order to porvide the basic information for the conservation of Keumho river, pH, DO, BOD, COD, nitrate, phosphate and heavy metals were investigated at seven sampling sites(Yeungchun dam, Yeungseo bridge, Hayang bridge, Ayang bridge, Seobyun bridge, Paldal bridge, Gangchang bridge). The results were as follows. 1. The values of DO at other sampling sites except for the downstream of Yeungchun dam were lower than those of saturated DO, and, particularly, DO sag was observed at Gangchang bridge. 2. The value of BOD at Gangchang bridge was 13.3ppm, which exceeded the fourth grade of environmental criterion(8ppm). 3. The calue of COD at the downstream of Yeungchun dam was 2.1ppm, but the value of COD at Gangchang bridge, the most highly polluted site, was 27.6ppm, which exceeded the fifth grade of environmental criterion(8ppm). 4. The values of NH₃-N at Yeungseo bridge and Gangchang bridge were 1.93ppm and 1.94ppm, respectively, but those of other sampling sites were at range of 0.18∼0.60ppm The values of NO₃-N at seven sampling sites were at gange of 3.74∼16.32ppm. These values were very high in comparison with those of NH₃-N. 5. The contents of heavy metals at Gangchang bridge(Cu 0.27ppm, Cd 0.034ppm Mn 0.081ppm, Fe 1.742ppm, Zn 0.684ppm, Cr 1.018ppm) were higher than those of other sampling sites.

The present study was undertaken to compare the pharmacological activity of crude Cnidii Rhizoma reported with the clinical uses in the oriental medicine. Crude Cnidii Rhizoma used for the treatment of anemia, body chill, menstural irregularity and menstural pain as hematic tonic effector, sedative, adodyne and clear extravasated blood. Therefore we tested the effects of Cnidii Rhizoma water extract on the liverprotective activities in the rats. The results obtained form liver microsomal enzyme assay, measurement of serum and liver alanine, aspartate aminotransferase and lipid accumulation indicated that Cnidii Rhizoma extract showed significant liver-protective activities against benzo(a)pyrene poisoning.

민간에서 주로 사용되는 약용식물들 중 간독성 의 발현 저해 및 간기능 보호 효과가 우수한약물을 찾아 임상적인 약효를 밝혀보고자 하는 실험과정으로 탄소화합물의 불완전 연소및 열분해에 의해 생성되는 간장해 물질인 benzo(a)pyrene으로 유도한 rats의 간독성발현에 미치는 천궁 수침액의 예방 및 치료 효과를 실험하여 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 천궁 수침액의 투여는 B(a)P 투여로 현저하게 증가된 혈청 및 간장의 AST, ALT,LDH, ALP 활성을 유의성 있게 감소시켰다. 2. B(a)P 투여로 증가한 혈청 total cholesterol 및 phospholipid 함량은 천궁 수침액의투여로 감소시킬 수 있었으나 그 효과는 현저하지 않았다. 3. 천궁의 투여는 B(a)P에 의한 간독성 발현을 유의성 있게 감소시켰으며 그 효과는전처리가 후처리에 비해 우수하였다. Benzo(a)pyrene에 의해 유도된 간기능 장해에 미치는 세신 추출액의 영향

탄소화합물의 불완전 연소 및 열분해에 의해 생성되는 다환방향족 탄화수소로 간 실질세포에서 cytochrome P_450에 의해 산화되는 간장해 물질인 benzo(a)pyrene으로 유도한 rats의간독성 발현에 미치는 세신 수침액의 예방 및 치료 효과를 실험한 결과 세신 수침액의 투여는B(a)P 투여로 현저하게 증가된 혈청 및 간장의 transaminase 활성을 유의성 있게 감소시켰으며 그효과는 조직에서 보다 우세하였다. 그러나 세신 수침액이 B(a)P투여로 증가한혈청 total cholesterol과 phospholipid 함량을 감소시킬 수는 있었지만 그 효과는 약하여 지질대사에는 세신의 작용이 미미할 것으로 보인다. Effects of Asiasari Radix, which is herbal drug used frequentlyin the oriental prescriptions, water extract on the liver-protective activities wereinvestigated in the rats. Asiasari Radix water extract, when administered intothe gastric intubation, produced liver-protective effect against benzo(a)pyreneinduced liver damage. The results obtained from enzyme assay, measurement of serum and liveralanine aspartate aminotransferase(AST, ALT) and lipid composition indicatedthat Asiasari water extract showed significant liver-protective activities againstbenzo(a)pyrene-induce hepatotoxicity.

Attempts were made to investigate sterol components of Schizophyllum commune Fr. which is one of medicinal fungi and grows wildly in Korea. Its carpophores were collected in Mountain Gwanak and extracted with chloroform and methanol. A sterol was isolated and identified as ergosterol by TLC, GLC and chemical tests.

To establish a competent method of microbiological assay for bacampicillin, one of new semi-synthetic derivatives of β-lactam antibiotics, a comparison was carried out between different conditions for hydrolysis of bacampicillin into ampicillin which was then subjected to cylinder plate method. The results showed that the use of carboxylic ester hydrolase in vitro as a pretreatment of it in either pH value 6 or 8 was feasible and that the cylinder plate method with Sarcina lutes was adequate for potency estimation.

우리나라의 항생제 남용 문제는 세계적으로 심각 하다고 한다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해서 정부는 다양한 정책을 도입하고 있으며 특히 축산물의 항생제 남용 문제를 해결하기위해 사료 관리법을 강화하여 항생제 사용을 억제하고 있어 항생제를 대체 할 물질이 필요하다. 이런 문제를 해결하기 위해서 우리나라의 다양한 해조류를 이용한 항생제 개발을 통해서 항생제 남용 문제를 해결하고 소비자들에게 믿을 수 있는 축산물을 제공 할 것으로 보인다. Feed official law was strengthened recently. The antibiotic use is suppressed with feed official law reinforcement. The antibiotic transfer material is necessary. To use the seaweeds and transfer the antibiotic. It is a possibility of a high income. This is new bio industry. This the goods production which is competitive power is possible. It is a possibility of eating the livestock where also the consumers are good.
