        손동작 식별 규칙을 이용한 컴퓨터의 프레젠테이션 제어

        손동작 인식을 통하여 컴퓨터 프레젠테이션을 제어하는 시스템을 제안한다. 제안하는 시스템은 손 동작의 다양한 운동 형태를 인식, 구분함으로써 부가적인 제어용 장치 없이 프레젠테이션을 제어한다. 손동작의 인식을 위하여 얼굴영역 검출과 손영역 검출을 시행한다. 하르분류기(Haar classifier)를 이용하여 얼굴영역을 검출하며, HSV 컬러모델상에서 피부 색상 정보에 따라 손영역을 검출한다. 얼굴 영역은 손동작의 시작과 끝, 동작의 크기 및 방향을 판단하는 기준으로 삼는다. 얼굴 영역으로부터 가로, 세로 중심축을 설정하고 제안하는 모션 식별룰에 따라 다양한 손동작을 인식하고 컴퓨터 제어에 이용한다. 약 1200회의 동작 인식 실험에서 97.2%의 인식률을 얻어 제안하는 알고리즘이 유효함을 확인하였다. A system that control computer presentations by using the hand motion recognition and identification is proposed. The system recognizes and identifies various types of motion in hand motion, controlls the presentation without additional control devices. To recognize hand movements, it performs a face and hand region detection. Facial area is detected using Haar classifier and hand region is extracted according to skin color information on HSV color model. The face area is used to determine the beginning and end of hand gestures, the size and direction of motion. It recognizes various hand gestures and uses them to control computer presentations according to the hand motion identification rules that are proposed and set horizontal and vertical axes from the face area. It is confirmed that 97.2% recognition rate is obtained in about 1200 hand motion recognition experiments and the proposed algorithm is valid in presentation control.

        움직임분석 및 색상정보를 이용한 실시간 얼굴추적

        동영상으로부터 움직임 분석 및 색상정보를 이용한 실시간 얼굴 추적 방법을 제안한다. 시간미분연산에 의하여 실시간으로 입력되는 동영상으로부터 움직임 영역을 검출한 후, 컬러공간 융합 필터링에 의하여 얼굴 영역 후보 화소를 검출하고 눈, 입등 얼굴 구성 요소 검출에 의하여 얼굴 영역의 실시간 추적을 행하였다. 얼굴 구성요소의 참조 템플릿을 구축한 후 신규 입력되는 연속영상의 얼굴 영역으로부터 템플릿 매칭을 행함으로써 추출된 얼굴 영역의 신뢰도를 판정하는 방법으로 얼굴 영역 추적의 안정도를 향상시켰다. A realtime face tracking algorithm using motion analysis from image sequences and color information is proposed. Motion area from the realtime moving images is detected by calculating temporal derivatives first, candidate pixels which represent face region is extracted by the fusion filtering with multiple color models, and realtime face tracking is performed by discriminating face components which includes eyes and lips. We improve the stability of face tracking performance by using template matching with face region in an image sequence and the reference template of face components.

        PI3K/MAPK 관련 신호전달인자의 발현 특성 분석을 통한 인간배아줄기세포의 자가재생산 이해

        Understanding the molecular mechanism that regulates pluripotency and self-renewal in human embryonic stem cells (hESCs) is important for developing treatments for degenerative diseases. However, so far it remains largely unknown. To characterize a unique signature of transcriptional profiles regulating hESC self-renewal, we selected the genes involved in PI3K and MAPK signaling and tested for semi-quantitative RT-PCR analysis of mRNA expression levels. We set out to compare the transcriptional profile of undifferentiated CHA3-hESCs with those of retinoic acid (RA)-differentiated hESCs or embryoid bodies (EBs). 5 μM RA as general differentiation inducer of hESCs was treated on CHA3 hESCs for 4 days. Down-regulation of hESC-specific markers such as AP, Oct4, Nanog, Sox2, SSEA-3, Tra1-60, and Tra-1-81 were confirmed on RA-differentiated hESCs. Down-regulation of Nanog and Oct4 mRNAs was confirmed in 14- and 21-day-old EBs, respectively, whereas Sox-2 had no change up to 28 days. Our results showed that PI3K and MAPK signaling related genes are highly expressed in undifferentiated hESCs. We confirmed their differential expression pattern between undifferentiated and differentiated hESCs. Specifically, the expression of AKT1 mRNA was significantly down-regulated in both RA-differentiated hESCs and EBs. Downstream target of mTOR p70S6K1 and 2 was significantly down-regulated in EBs, comparing with undifferentiated hESCs. While expression of PDK1 did not changed, the expression of its downstream target, p90Rsk1 was significantly decreased upon differentiation. We also found that the expression level of ERK1, 2 and MAPK4 genes is significantly decreased upon differentiation. Interestingly, Down-regulation of ERK activity induced by treatment of ERK specific inhibitor, PD98059, did not affect the undifferentiated state of hESCs in our experimental conditions. Disruption of MAPK pathways using specific inhibitors such as U0126, JNK inhibitor II, SB202190 affected to commitment and early differentiation stages of EBs. These results imply that the differential transcription of PI3K and MAPK signaling related genes may reflect the state of hESC self-renewal and govern differentiation process.

        Does Economic Dependence on China Affect African Countries’ Human Rights Voting in the UN? Evidence from UNGA Voting Data, 1992-2014

        중국이 경제 대국으로 부상하면서, 증가하는 대중 무역이 개발도상국들에게 미칠 정치적 영향력에 대하여 관심이 높아지고 있다. 이전 연구들은 중국의 증가하는 경제력이 아프리카 국가들의 외교 정책에 유의미한 영향력을 미친다고 주장했다. 특히, 중국의 최대 외교 정책 현안 중 하나인 유엔 인권 결의안 투표에서 아프리카 국가들이 중국과 같은 입장을 취한다는 주장이 제기되었다. 그러나 아프리카 국가들의 인권투표 기록을 최근 시기인 2014년까지 추적한 결과, 2002년 이후부터 점차 많은 아프리카 국가들이 유엔 인권투표에서 중국과 다른 입장을 취하기 시작했다. 본 논문은 아프리카 지역에서 대중 무역의 정치적 영향력이 왜 감소하였는지를 분석한다. 이를 위해 본 논문은 우선 베이지안 전환점 분석을 이용하여 1992년부터 2014년 시기에 유엔 인권투표에서 전환점을 보인 아프리카 국가들을 찾는다. 그 다음 각 국가들의 전환점을 야기한 외생적 변수들을 탐색한다. 분석 결과를 바탕으로 본 논문은 2000년대 아프리카 지역을 휩쓴 정치적 자유화 물결이 아프리카 국가들의 전환점 시기와 유의미한 상관관계를 가짐을 보여준다. China’s growing influence in Africa has become a topic of great interest in international relations. Previous studies showed that China’s economic strength affected African countries’ votes on one of China’s most serious foreign policy concerns: UN country-specific human rights (UNHR hereafter) resolutions. However, our replication of Flores-Macas and Kreps (2013) using post-2002 UNHR voting data does not support their claim. In fact, we found that a growing number of African countries have voted in favor of UNHR resolutions since 2002. To investigate this puzzle, we first identify African countries with explicit breaks in voting similarity with China between 1992 and 2014 using the Bayesian change-point analysis method (Chib 1998, Park 2010). Then, for selected countries with explicit breaks in voting similarities with China, we check the relationship between exogenous covariates that may contribute to regime changes and the specific timing of country-specific breaks. We find that political liberalization has significantly contributed to country-specific breaks of selected African countries. Our findings suggest that the diminishing influence of China’s economic power on African countries is systematically correlated with the wave of political liberalization in the 2000s.

        대한적십자병원(1905-1907): 설립 및 운영, 그리고 폐지를 중심으로

        The Korean Empire, its state sovereignty threatened by the Empire of Japan, joined the Geneva Conventions in 1903 for the purpose of neutral diplomacy and established the imperial Korean Red Cross Hospital in 1905. This hospital was a result of the effort of the Korean Empire to seek a new medical system based on the Western medicine. However, after the Russo-Japanese War, Japan interfered straightforwardly in the domestic affairs of Korea and eventually abolished the Korean Red Cross Hospital in 1907 to create Daehan Hospital under Japanese colonial rule. With newlyfound historical records, this study investigates the whole process of the Korean Red Cross Hospital, which has remained unknown so far, despite its importance. From the very beginning, the Korean Red Cross Hospital was under strong influence of the Empire of Japan. The site for the hospital was chosen by a Japanese army doctor, Junryō Yoshimoto, and the construction was supervised by Rokurō Katsumata, who also later on are involved in the construction of Daehan Hospital. Moreover, all the main positions for medical treatments were held by Japanese practitioners such as Gorō Tatami and Kaneko Yano. Nevertheless, the Korean government had to shoulder the all operating costs. The office of the Korean Red Cross was relocated away from the Korean Red Cross Hospital, and the government of the Korean Empire was not willing to burden the expenses of the Hospital. Moreover, the list of employees of the Korean Red Cross and that of the Korean Red Cross Hospital were drawn up separately: the former is left only in Korea and the latter in Japan. These facts suggest that those two institutes were managed dualistically unlike any other nation, implying that this may have been a means to support the Daehan Hospital project. According to the statistics, health care services in the Korean Red Cross Hospital seems to have been carried out successfully. There had been an increase in the number of patients, and the ratio of female patients was relatively high (26.4%). Only Western medications were prescribed and surgical operations with anesthesia were performed routinely. The approach to Western medicine in Korea was changing during that period. The rise and fall of the Korean Red Cross Hospital represent the urgent situation of the Korean Empire as well as the imperialistic methodology of the Empire of Japan to use medicine as a tool for colonization. Although the transition process of medical policy by the Japanese Resident-General of Korea still remains to be fully elucidated, this paper contributes to a better understanding of the history of modern medicine in Korea.

      • 세부지침에 따른 시설물 보수·보강 우선순위지수(PI) 산출 방법 제안

        성능중심 유지관리를 위해서는 시설물의 성능평가 결과(등급)에 따른 보유성능이 목표성능(둥급)에 도달하도록 유지관리 전략을 수립ㆍ시행해야 하며, 이때 유지관리전략에는 부채별, 손상별, 성능간, 등급별 가중치를 적용하여 우선순위지수(PI)를 산출하고 우선순위에 따라 보구ㆍ보강 순위를 제시하여야 한다. 그러나 세부지침에서는 우선순위지수(PI) 산출시등급별 가중치 및 항만등시설의 내구성능 손상별 가중치가 제시되어 있지 않아 우선순위지수(PI) 산출이 곤란하다. 이에 본 논문에서는 세부지침에서 제시하지 않고 있는 등급별 가중치와 항만등시설의 내구성능 손상별 가중치를 등급별 범위의 최소값과 영향계수를 활용하여 가중치를 산정하고, 이를 토대로 보수ㆍ보강 우선순위지수(PI) 산출 방법을 제안함으로써 유지관리전략 수립의 보편성을 확보하는데 기여할 것으로 기대한다.
