In view of meeting the more stringent emission regulations that will take effect in Europe In the near future, there are still many technical difficulties to resolve in reducing simultaneously the NOx and Soot emitted from diesel engine. Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system has become a popular way for reducing NOx levels in internal combustion engine.<br/> However, the application of EGR is also having a problems which we have to solve. In particular, EGR system has relation the trade-off between NOx and Soot emissions, especially at high loads.<br/> Reducing NOx and Soot emissions from diesel engine, and improving fuel consumption<br/> simultaneously are important in meeting government regulations and society's needs.<br/> In this study, the effects of Cooled EGR on the characteristics of NOx and Soot have been investigated using HSDI(High Speed Direct Injection) diesel engine operating at various loads and speeds.<br/>
