An Experimental Study on Effects of Pair Programming on Task Performance
Seong No Yoon(윤성노),Jongheon Kim(김종헌),Sang-hyun Park(박상현) 한국데이타베이스학회 2007 Journal of information technology applications & m Vol.14 No.4
In recent years, pair programming has become a widely used approach for development of information systems. According to a worldwide survey, 35 percent of 104 development projects reported using pair programming. However, previous studies have shown rather mixed results in terms of the effectiveness of pair programming, comparing to individual or independent programming. This paper, therefore, uses a lab setting to control some of the variables that appear to have caused conflicting results in earlier studies. Writing SQL queries for given problem statements is selected as the task the subjects to solve. One key issue addressed is the distribution of work load among the pair programmers and the independent programmers. Another is communication among co-workers as would occur in a real-world system development environment. The results of this study indicate there is no significant difference in task performance pair programming and independent programming.
State Industrial Promotion and Law
이용식 한국제도∙경제학회 2019 제도와 경제 Vol.13 No.3
This paper examines state industrial promotion in the context of ‘law and development’. Economists have argued since the 18th century on the economic efficiency of government involvement in the economy. While state-led development policies in some of the most successful development cases, such as South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, and more recently, China, have been effective, many have doubted the wisdom of government involvement in the economy. Where the availability of information is limited and the financial market is imperfect (which are the inherent conditions of less-developed countries), the government can provide useful initiatives in productive industrial pursuits, as demonstrated in the cited successful development cases. Adoption and management of industrial promotion policies are indeed a hallmark of developmental states. However, industrial promotion by the state, which might be useful in the early stages of economic development, may not be sustained indefinitely, and at some point those industries promoted by the state would have to sustain themselves in the market environment without continuing government support. This paper attempts to clarify the conditions for successful state industrial promotion as well as the legal frameworks that enable the government to provide effective assistance to meet the development needs, which may vary in different stages of economic development. In the legal analysis, the paper applies the recently-developed “General Theory of Law and Development”.

N/A designed to evaluate the pattern of histocompatibility antigens(HLA) and its association with poor prognostic factors in patients with IgAN. Methods : Study population comprised the 69 patients with IgAN which was diagnosed by clinical and pathological findings, and control groups were 202 healthy Korean people. We evaluated the HLA class I serologic typing by standard microlymphocytotoxic technique and the HLA class II genotypes by the two-step polymerase chain reaction. Results : 1. HLA-A was not associated with IgAN. 2. The phenotype frequency of HLA-B55 was 6.1% in patient group and 1.7% in normal control group. HLA- B55 was associated with IRAN(relative risk 3.47, P<0.05). 3. HLA-DQB1*04 was also associated with IgAN (relative risk 3.57, P<0.05). 4. There was no significant difference in the distribution of HLA in IgAN patients according to histologic grading, blood pressure, renal function and proteinuria. Conclusions : Frequencies of HLA-B55, HLA-DQB1*04 are higher in Korean patients with IgAN compared to general population. But we could not observe the significant relationships between HLA type and poor prognostic factors. Further study using larger population with IgAN may be necessary to identify the association of HLA locus with poor prognostic factors and progress decline in renal function in patients with IgAN.
