In this study, a finite element model based on the SU/PG scheme was developed to solve shallow-water equations and the influences of parameters and internal boundary conditions on depth-averaged flow behavior were investigated. To analyze the effect of rough-¬ness coefficient and eddy viscosity on flow characteristics, the developed model was applied to rectangular meandering channel with two bends, and transverse velocities and water depth distributions were examined. As the roughness coefficient adjacent to wall increased, the velocities near the wall decreased, and the reduced velocities were compensated by the expanding mid-channel velocities. In addition, the flow character-¬ristics around a circular cylinder were analyzed by varying the internal boundary conditions as free slip and no slip. The assignment of slip condition changed the velocity distribution on the cylinder surface and reduced the magnitude of the shear stress up to one third.

Although the safety management plan review system according to the Construction Technology Promotion Act for securing the safety of the construction work is a fundamental system essential for the prevention of the construction industry disaster, the necessity of its improvement has been raised because it often fails to meet the original purpose. In this study, through the analysis of the effect of the safety management plan and the problems of the operation, we suggest ways to improve it in view of the construction accident reduction and conducted surveys on the construction site through the questionnaires of the client, construction company, and construction business technology manager. In order to improve the effectiveness of this system as a result of the study, it is necessary to distribute the guidelines for the preparation of the safety management plan, manuals, etc., to simplify the contents of the safety management plan, also the step-by-step approval of the safety plan can be a solution. For this, it is necessary to revise the policy through consultation with the Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs and related experts.

The ultrasonic pulse velocities of pressure, shear, and Rayleigh waves ( P-, S-, and R- waves) have been used for the condition evaluation of various concrete structures, but the statistical distribution according to the wave type has not been studied clearly in view of data reliability and validity. Therefore, this study analyzed the statistical distribution of P-, S-, R-wave velocities in concrete wide beams of 800 × 3100 mm (width x length) with a thickness of 300 mm. In addition, we investigated an experimental consistency by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov goodness-of-fit test. The experimental data showed that the R-, S- and P- wave velocities in order have better statistical stability and reliability for in situ evaluation because R- and S-waves are less sensitive to confinement and boundary conditions. Also, good correlations between wave velocities and strength and modulus of elasticity were found, which indicate them as appropriate techniques for estimating the mechanical properties.

Despite the government 's efforts to reduce constructional disasters, it has been pointed out that the safety management cost of the Construction Technology Promotion Act does not reflect the actual site. Therefore, it is necessary to study the proper guideline of the safety management cost which can be used as the most fundamental measure to prevent construction accidents. Moreover for the securement of the reasonable safety management costs, it is important to calculate its appropriate rate . Thus, in this study, the appropriate rate of safety management cost was proposed by the construction cost & type based on the 111 execution plans of safety management cost , and the rate is analyzed to be 1/10 of the occupational safety and health management cost. The results of this study will be a guideline in improvement to the proper schedule rating system improvement and in implement of pilot projects.

The safety management cost system under the Construction Technology Promotion Act has contributed greatly to the prevention of construction accidents according to the chronological changes and social demand, but various problems have been pointed out. The biggest problem is that the safety management cost is earmarked very low because other items of safety management costs except for the safety inspection are not appropriately included in the actual construction site. Furthermore, it has been pointed out that it is difficult to settle the orderer due to the lack of specific use criteria. Therefore, in order to secure the proper safety management cost, this study is to estimate the actual cost by using of specification, quantity, material cost, labor cost for each type of the safety management item The results of this study were compared with the 71 cases of safety management costs in the safety management plan. In addition, analysis of unclear or unnecessary items in the current safety management cost and criteria and suggestions for improvement are provided. It is hoped that the results of this study will contribute to the rational safety management rate calculation.

Construction accidents are difficult to prevent because several different types of activities occur simultaneously. The current method of accident analysis only indicates the number of occurrences for one or two variables and accidents have not reduced as a result of safety measures that focus solely on individual variables. Even if accident data is analyzed to establish appropriate safety measures, it is difficult to derive significant results due to a large number of data variables, elements, and qualitative records. In this study, in order to simplify the analysis and approach this complex problem logically, data preprocessing techniques, such as latent class cluster analysis (LCCA) and predictor importance were used to discover the most influential variables. Finally, the correlation was analyzed using an alluvial flow diagram consisting of seven variables and fourteen elements based on accident data. The alluvial diagram analysis using reduced variables and elements enabled the identification of accident trends into four categories. The findings of this study demonstrate that complex and diverse construction accident data can yield relevant analysis results, assisting in the prevention of accidents.

According to the Korean Statistical Information Service, the number of fatal occupational accidents per 100,000 workers is the highest in Korea, among all the OECD countries. The safety of construction workers is managed by the construction technology promotion act (CTPA) and the occupational safety and health act (OHSA). A review of the current safety management laws is required to improve them for the construction industry, where the numbers of accidents and deaths are constantly increasing. Accordingly, the aim of this study was to identify the problems in unclear business areas through comparison and analysis of the CTPA and OHSA guidelines and establish effective site-dependent construction safety management plans. The overlapping safety and health management terms and tasks of organizations were derived along with identifying the overlapping items of the safety management and hazard and risk prevention plans. Based on these results, several improvements for the design stage, safety cost, and safety education have been suggested in this paper. In addition, an improved model based on the integration and an optimized compromise between these two laws for safety management in areas where many accidents have occurred in recent years has been reported here.
