This study reviewed the real case which was resolved by the usual method and the solutions which were drawn about the same problem of the case by USIT, when efficient solutions need to be found in a short period of time. USIT, one of Creative Problem Solving Method. Simple and clear definition of a happened problem is important to catch some solutions fast. Each stage in USIT help to use this solving method by picturing the relation between the target designated by the definition stage and objects relative to the problem. It is probable that the existing way like Why-Why diagram leads into a piecemeal approach to dealing with a problem. therefore, It is supposed that USIT will have synergy in being used in combination with the usual measures. the detailed process needs to be built up through more studies on other cases.

This study reviewed the optimized manner of a diecasting part to reduce casting detects such as porosities. Molten metal in sleeve was analyzed for the selection of an intended diecasting machine and 2 phase, molten metal and air, in cavity was calculated. In order to prevent molten metal from mixing with air by vortex and initially defective molten metal, fill rate, low and high speed injection must be determined by the grade of the diecasting machine. As known widely, it is verified that overflow or air-vent must be located at the confluence of molten metal and the sudden change in the direction of molten metal affects flow status. Mold needs to determine design through analysis for molten metal flow.

Head and cavitation in centrifugal pump has been main issue for design of efficient and high performance water pump. In this paper, pressure distribution and cavitation occurrence at blades are investigated numerically to design plastic water pump for clean diesel engine application. Prediction results are compared with experimental data to validate and determine optimal operation condition without water pump cavitation. In addition, major design parameters such as blade angle, volute geometry, system pressure, and coolant flow rate are considered to confirm applying possibility of plastic blades to the clean diesel engine.
