This is a case report of correction of traumatic right frontal bone depression. Traditionally, autogenous and homogenous corticocancellous bone have been inlaid or onlaid. This patient who had frontal bone depression of right forehead was operated with an extracranial augmentation procedure using Hydroxyapatite materials. The postoperative course was unremarkble and the patient was satisfied with a good facial contour. Now We will report the results.

We devised a method to control the temperature of a liquid bath as low as -100oC using the duty cycle control of a solenoid valve. The solenoid valve controls the flow of liquid nitrogen that we used as a cryogen in this system. By controlling the duty cycle of a solenoid valve using feedback from the measured temperature of the liquid bath, we were able to achieve temperature stability within ±19 mK around -100oC. We also demonstrated that by taking average values of the temperature readings for sequence of measurements from more than one thermometer, it is possible to use this system for the calibration of thermometers within 3 mK. This system and the control method can be used for the precise temperature control in the range between 0oC and -100oC, where commercially available precision baths are much expensive and hard to be built in customized configurations.

This is a retrospective study on 53 facial bone fracture patients with head injuries treated in Chosun university hospital, Department of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Neurosurgery from Jan. 1991 to Dec. 1992, and the obtained results were as follows. 1. Of the 355 patients with facial bone fractures, 63 patients suffered from head injures(17.7%) and male to female ration was 5.7:1. 2. The most frequently affected was midface area(71%) including zygoma(32%), nasal bone(21%), and maxilla(19%). 3. The age frequency was the highest in the third decade(40%). 4. In the zygomatic fracture, the most frequent site was zygomatic arch area(47%), It was Lefort II type fracture(53%) in the maxilla and symphyseal & body area(66%) in the mandible. 5. The most frequent cause was traffic accidents(66%). 6. The most frequently traumatic sign was closed head injury(46%) involving cerebral contusion, subdural hematoma. Intracerebral hemorrage. 7. The most frequently associated injuries were facial laceration(43%), and other associated injuries included spine injury(17%), whole body contusion(16%), chest injury(13%), extremities injury(9%), abdomen injury(2%). 8. Of 25 patients below drowsy mentation, the mean Glassgow Coma Scale score was 10.8. 9. In the classification of clinical mental state by De Jong, alert state was 31 cases, drowsy state 12 cases, semicoma 7 cases, coma 3 cases. 10. GCS score was low in the patients of craniocerebral injury concomittant with combined midfacial bone fracture. 11. The open reduction to the facial bone fractures was performed in about 8 days after the injury in the 13 of total 25 cases(52%) due to neurosurgical problems. 12. The complications were maloccusion(2 cases), malunion(1 case), nonunion(1 case) and deep space infection(1 case), and the complication rate was 19.2%.

To develop, standardize and objectify the effective infertility treatments in Oriental Medicine, the tendency of experiments and studies on the infertility was analyzed through the published dissertations in Oriental Medicine field to get the following conclusions: In the annual publishing tendency, the number of dissertations began to increase from 2002 and the dissertations were published every year except 2005. In the publishing situation of institutions, Kyunghee University had published most papers: 11 master dissertations and 13 doctorate dissertations. In the infertility types, 25 dissertations were on the male infertility and 8 were on the female infertility. Before 2003, most of the dissertations were on the female infertility and since 2003 the dissertation on the male infertility have been published more actively. In the medication and the prescription, the studies with single medication were 25, and ones with single prescription were 8 In the studies on the male infertility with single medication, four papers on Ginseng Radix(人蔘) were the most. In the studies on the female infertility, there was one paper each on Cervi Pantotrichum cornu(鹿茸), Foeniculi fructus(小茴香), Evodiae fructus(吳茱萸) and Hominis placenta(紫河車). And in the papers experimented with the prescription, there was a male infertility dissertation each on the Ugui-eum(yougui-yin) and the Palmijihwang-hwan(baweidihuang-wan〕); in case of female infertility, there were 2 dissertations prescribing the Ontoyuknin-tang(wentuyulin-tang) and one each prescribing the Gamiguibi-tang(jiaweiguipi-tang), the Buikjihwang-hwan(fuyidihuang-wan), Sibjeonjeeum-hwan(shiquanjiyin-wan), the Onpo-eum(wenbao-yin), the Yukmijihwang-tang(liuweidihuang-tang), the Changbudodam-hwan(cangfudaotan-wan) and Palmulgunja-tang gamibang(bawujunzi-tang jiaweifang). If there are more diverse studies on medication, prescription, acupuncture/moxibustion and external treatment methods in the future, this will be very helpful for the clinical treatment of infertility.

We devised calibration procedure for industrial thermometers by a comparison method at the boiling point of nitrogen (~-196°C). The uncertainty of the calibration was 4 mK (k = 2). As experimentally demonstrated in this work, the effect of the atmospheric pressure on the boiling point of nitrogen can be easily detected by the thermometer. Therefore, when the boiling point of nitrogen is used for calibration of thermometer by comparison, either a reference thermometer must be used to provide the reference temperature or the effect of atmospheric pressure should be carefully considered. The use of a copper block with a large thermal mass soaked into the liquid nitrogen was proven to be more reliable, and the stability of the temperature immersed into the copper block was 1.4 mK. The temperatures at the thermometer wells, evaluated by the crossed-measurement method to compensate for the inaccuracy of the thermometers and the linear drift of the temperature of the copper block, were equivalent within 0.23 mK of standard uncertainty.
