In concept vehicle development stage, the front end components are one of key factors for vehicle design. These front end components are effect on vehicle performance like as Aerodynamics and Powertrain Cooling performance. Unfortunately Aerodynamic and Powertrain Cooling performance are generally crash. In this paper, Aerodynamic and Powertrain Cooling performance are evaluated and maximize Aerodynamic performance without cooling problems. Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) process, one of GM optimize process, used for optimizing and understanding many factor of vehicle front end. From this result we want offer guide line for GMDAT next vehicle development.
Finless TOC 장착 차량의 냉각 성능에 관한 시험

It was developing that the high efficient and compact heat exchanger for transmission cooling. Typical transmission oil-cooler is included in radiator tank, and used to make cool oil that is from transmission. TOC (Transmission oil cooler) affect not only cooling performance of transmission but also cooling performance for engine. Finless heat exchanger is applied for cooling transmission oil. For developing finless heat exchanger, DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) process was used. We consider parameters that were affected performance of finless heat exchanger, and selected parameters that effect on TOC cooling performance. We developed finless heat exchanger that has equivalent performance with fin type heat exchanger by optimizing major parameters. We designed proto type of finless heat exchanger, and Powertrain cooling performance of proto product was compared to cooling performance of current product.
