        LPS로 유도한 복강대식세포에서 $I{\kappa}B-{\alpha}$ 분해억제에 의한 시경반하탕(柴梗半夏湯)의 항염증효과

        Objectives : The purpose of this study was to investigate the toll-like receptor (TLR)-4 mediated anti-inflammatory effects of extract from Shigyungbanha-tang (SBT) on the peritoneal macrophage. Methods : To evaluate of TLR-4 mediated inflammatory of SBT. we examined NO and cytokine production in TRL-4 ligand (LPS : lipopolysaccharide) induced macrophages. Furthermore, we examined its molecular mechanism using western blot. Results : Extract from SBT itself does not have any cytotoxic effect in the peritoneal macrophages. Extract from SBT reduced LPS-induced nitric oxide (NO). tumor necrosis factor-alpha ($TNF-{\alpha}$), interleukin (IL)-6 and IL-12 production in peritoneal macrophages. SBT inhibited degradation of inhibitor kappa B-alpha ($I{\kappa}B-{\alpha}$) in the TLR-4 mediated peritoneal macrophages. Conclusions : These results suggest that SBT inhibits NO and cytokines production through inhibiting nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-${\kappa}$B) activation in peritoneal macrophage and that SBT may be beneficial oriental medicine for inflammation.

        Althusser’s Social Theory

        In this paper, I will provide one particular reading or interpretation of Althusser’s social theory which I believe is worth in presenting it anew in a different theoretical terrain. Its value resides in relating it to, and associating it with antiessentialism rather than essentialism with which it typically has been linked. More specifically I will attempt to take Althusser’s social theory beyond the controversies raging about rationalism, empiricism, humanism, or structuralism in contemporary theoretic debates. In so doing, I will elucidate Althusser’s notion of overdetermination by virtue of which Marxist theory can finally rid itself of not only economic determinism but also various determinisms of all stripes.

        평폐산(平肺散)의 효능(效能)에 관(關)한 실험적(實驗的) 연구(硏究)

        Pyeongpaesan (平肺散) has been used in Korea for many centuries as a treatment for respiratory disease. The effect of Pyeongpaesan (平肺散) on tracheal smooth muscle is not known. The purpose of the present study is to determine the effect of Pyeongpaesan (平肺散) on histamine and acetylcholine induced tracheal smooth muscle contraction in rats and guinea pigs. Guinea pig (500 g, male) and Sprague Dawley rats (200 g, male) were killed by $CO_2$ exposure and a segment (8-10 mm) of the thoracic trachea from each rat and guinea pig was cut into equal segments and mounted 'in pairs' in a tissue bath. Contractile force was measured with force displacement transducers under 0.5 g loading tension. The dose of histamine (His) and acetylcholine (Ach) which evoked 50% of maximal response ($ED_{50}$) was obtained from cumulative dose response curves for histamine and acetylcholine $(10^{-7}{\sim}10^{-4}M)$. Contractions evoked by His $(ED_{50})$ and Ach $(ED_{50})$ were inhibited significantly by Pyeongpaesan (平肺散). In guinea pig tracheal smooth muscle, the mean percent inhibition of acetylcholine induced contraction was 13.5% (p<0.05) after $10{\mu}l/ml$ Pyeongpaesan (平肺散), $64.6\(p<0.01)\;after\;30{\mu}l/ml$ Pyeongpaesan (平肺散), and $92.8\(p<0.01)\;after\;100{\mu}l/ml$ Pyeongpaesan (平肺散). In rat tracheal smooth muscle, the mean percent inhibition of acetylcholine induced contraction was $60.9\(p<0.01)\;after\;30{\mu}l/ml$ Pyeongpaesan (平肺散), and $91.2\(p<0.01)\;after\;100{\mu}l/ml$ Pyeongpaesan (平肺散). Also, in guinea pig tracheal smooth muscle, the mean percent inhibition of histamine induced contraction was $104.8\(p<0.01)\;after\;30{\mu}l/ml$ Pyeongpaesan (平肺散) and $142.3\(p<0.01)\;after\;100{\mu}l/ml$ Pyeongpaesan (平肺散). In rat tracheal smooth muscle, the mean percent inhibition of histamine induced contraction was $63.7\(p<0.01)\;after\;30{\mu}l/ml$ Pyeongpaesan (平肺散), and $107.5\(p<0.01)\;after\;100{\mu}l/ml$ Pyeongpaesan (平肺散). Propranolol $(10^{-7}M)$ slightly but significantly attenuated the inhibitory effects of Pyeongpaesan (平肺散). Following treatment with propranolol, the mean percent inhibition caused by $100{\mu}l/ml$ Pyeongpaesan (平肺散) fell to 15.7% (p<0.05) in guinea pig induced by acetylcholine contraction and the mean percent inhibition caused by $100{\mu}l/ml$ Pyeongpaesan (平肺散) fell to 22.3% (p<0.05) in guinea pig induced by histamine contraction and by $100{\mu}l/ml$ Pyeongpaesan (平肺散) fell to 28.7% (p<0.01) in rat induced by histamine contraction. Indomethacin and methylene blue $(10^{-7}\;M)$ did not significantly alter the inhibitory effect of Pyeongpaesan (平肺散). Also, I could find the effects of Pyeongpaesan (平肺散) and Pyeongpaesanga (平肺散加) morphine on the tracheal smooth muscle in guinea pig and rat did not change significantly. These results indicate that Pyeongpaesan. (平肺散) can relax histamine and acetylcholine-induced contraction of guinea pig and rat tracheal smooth muscle, and that this inhibition involves sympathetic effects and the release of cyclooxygenase products.

        Anti-allergic Effects of Shensuyin

        모든 알레르기 반응의 중심축이 되는 비만세포는 주로 피부, 위장관 및 호흡기관의 점막에 분포하고 있다. 활성화된 비만세포는 즉각형 알레르기 반응을 일으키는 여러 인자들을 방출시키게 된다. 方藥合編(방약합편)에 따르면 蔘蘇飮(삼소음)은 알레르기 鼻炎(비염), 發熱(발열), 風寒(풍한), 頭痛(두통), 기침에 效能(효능)이 있는 處方(처방)이다. 본 硏究(연구)는 蔘蘇飮(삼소음)의 肥滿細胞(비만세포) 의존성 아나필락시 반응(anaphylactic reaction)에 대한 藥理(약리) 效果(효과)를 조사하기 위한 것이다. 蔘蘇飮(삼소음)은 compound 48/80으로 유발되는 전신성 아나필락시 쇼크(systemic anaphylactic shock)와 耳介(이개) 浮腫(부종) 反應(반응)(ear swelling response)을 농도 의존적으로 억제하였다. 蔘蘇飮(삼소음)을 0.1, 1 mg/ml로 전처리 하였을 때, 흰쥐 복강 肥滿細胞(비만세포)(rat peritoneal mast cells, RPMCs)에서 compound 40/80에 의해 유발되는 히스타민 분비는 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 蔘蘇飮(삼소음)은 anti-dinitrophenyl IgE에 의해 활성화 된 수동 피부 아나필락시(passive cutaneous anaphylaxis, PCA)를 농도 의존적으로 抑制(억제)하였다. 결론적으로 蔘蘇飮(삼소음)은 肥滿細胞(비만세포) 의존성 즉각형 알레르기 反應(반응)을 抑制(억제)하여, 항 아나필락시 활성(anti-anaphylactic activity)을 가지는 것으로 보여 진다.

        상피산(桑皮散)이 Paraquat로 유발(誘發)시킨 랫트의 폐수종(肺水腫)에 미치는 영향(影響)

        Sangphisan, sangphisan with Cortex Mori Cortex Lycii, Semen Lepidh were administrated into rats and then they were injected by Paraquat. The results are as follows 1. After 72 hours following the injection of paraquat, the survival rate of rats increased Sangphisan, Sangphisan with Cortex Mori Cortex Lycii Group. 2. Respirayory rates of rats witch survived 72 hours later significantly decreased in sangphisan, sangphisan with Semen Lepidh. 3. Lung weights of rats which survived for 72 hours later significantly decreased in Sangphisan, Sangphisan with Cortex Mori Cortex Lycii and mild decreased in Sangphisan with Semen Lepidh. 4. After the injection of paraquat, a lung tissue showed severe hemorrhage, edema and some broken aibeoli and Sangphisan, sangphisan with Cortex Mori Cortex Lycii, Sangphisan with Semen Lepidh recovered significantly.

        인삼정천탕(人蔘定喘湯)이 호흡기계(呼吸器系)에 미치는 영향(影響)

        Insamjungchuntang has been used in Korea for many centuries as a treatment for respiratory disease. The effect of Insamjungchuntang on tracheal smooth muscle is not known. The purpose of the present study is to determine the effect of Insamjungchuntang on histamine and acetylcholine induced tracheal smooth muscle contraction in rats and guinea pigs. Guinea pig (500 g, male) and Sprague Dawley rats (200 g, male) were killed by $CO_2$ exposure and a segment (8-10 mm) of the thoracic trachea from each rat and guinea pig was cut into equal segments and mounted 'in pairs' in a tissue bath. Contractile force was measured with force displacement transducers under 0.5 g loading tension. In guinea pig tracheal smooth muscle, the mean percent inhibition of acetylcholine induced contraction was $38.58\(p<0.05)\;after\;10{\mu}l/ml$ Insamjungchuntang, $90.75\(p<0.01)\;after\;30{\mu}l/ml$. Insamjungchuntang and $133.17\(p<0.01)\;after\;100{\mu}l/ml$ Insamjungchuntang. In rat tracheal smooth muscle, the mean percent inhibition of acetylcholine induced contraction was $10.0\(p<0.05)\;after\;10{\mu}l/ml$ Insamjungchuntang, $80.71\(p<0.01)\;after\;30{\mu}/ml$ Insamjungchuntang and $118.29\(p<0.01)\;after\;100{\mu}l/ml$ Insamjungchuntang. Also, in guinea pig tracheal smooth muscle, the mean percent inhibition of histamine induced contraction was $45.5\(p<0.01)\;after\;10{\mu}l/ml$ lnsamjungchuntang, and $93.17\(p<0.01)\;after\;30{\mu}l/ml$. lnsamjungchuntang $134.50\(p<0.01)\;after\;100{\mu}l/ml$ Insamjungchuntang. In rat tracheal smooth muscle, the mean percent inhibition of histamine induced contraction was $37.83\(p<0.01)\;after\;10{\mu}l/ml$ lnsamjungchuntang, $90.5\(p<0.01)\;after\;30{\mu}l/ml$ Insamjungchuntang and $135.17\(p<0.01)\;after\;100{\mu}l/ml$ Insamjungchuntang. Propranolol $(10^{-7}\;M)$ slightly but significantly attenuated the inhibitory effects of Insamjungchuntang. Following treatment with propranolol, the mean percent inhibition caused by $100{\mu}l/ml$. Insamjungchuntang fell to 46.42% in guinea pig induced by acetylcholine contraction and by $100{\mu}l/ml$ Insamjungchuntang fell to 5.43% (p<0.05) in rat induced by acetylcholine contraction and the mean percent inhibition caused by $100{\mu}l/ml$ Insamjungchuntang fell to 49.0% in guinea pig induced by histamine contraction and by $100{\mu}l/ml$ Insamjungchuntang fell to 48.6% (p<0.05) in rat induced by histamine contraction. Indomethacin and methylene blue $(10^{-7}\;M)$ did not significantly alter the inhibitory effect of lnsamjungchuntang. Also, I could find the effects of lnsamjungchuntang and Insamjungchuntanggamorphine on the tracheal smooth muscle in guinea pig and rat did not change significantly. These results indicate that Insamjungchuntang can relax histamine and acetylcholine-induced contraction of guinea pig and rat tracheal smooth muscle, and that this inhibition involves sympathetic effects.

        수족한(手足汗)의 원인(原因)과 치료법(治療法)에 대한 동(東).서의학적(西醫學的) 고찰(考察)

        Sweating is natural phenomenon necessary for the regulation of an individual's body-temperature. The secretion of sweat is mediated by a portion of our vegetative nervous system(the sympathetic nervous system). In some people, this system is working at a very high activity level, far higher than needed to keep a constant temperature. This condition is referred to as hyperhidrosis. Especially excessive sweating of the hands and the feet is palmoplantar hyperhidrosis or volar hyperhidrosis. This is by far the most distressing condition. It was founded that the first important cause of this was emotional factor. The hands are much more exposed in social and prefessional activities than any other part of our body. Many individuals with palmoplantar hyperhidrosis are limited in their choice of proffession, because unable to manipulate materials sensitive to humidity or reluctant to shake hands; some patients arrive to the point to avoid social contact. The occidental medical treatments for palmoplantar hyperhidrosis include application of topical agents(chemical antiperspirants such as aluminum chloride), iontophoresis(treatment with electrical current), or surgery(thoracic sympathectomy). It was reported that the most effective treatment was thoracic sympathectomy. So this study was started to find the easy and effective oriental medical treatments against the occidental medical treatments through the oriental medical literature. The occidental medical idea for palmoplantar hyperhidrosis is only limited in neurologic system, so surgery is the best treatment. But the oriental medical idea for palmoplantar hyperhidrosis is much wider, so the oriental medical causes and treatments for this are able to be veriety. And the oriental medical teatment is freely in treating the patients of palmoplantar hyperhidrosis, because entire idea including pulse, facial color, mental condition, constitution and other symptom exists in the oriental medicine. The results of a bibliographic study of causes and treatments for palmoplantar are as follows; 1. The main causes of pa1moplantar hyperhidrosis are heat in the stomach, damp-heat in the spleen and the stomach, insufficiency of the spleen-qi and the stomach-qi, deficiency of the spleen-yin and the stomach-yin, and the others are the stomach-cold syndrome, stasis of blood and dyspepsia in the stomach, disorder of the liver-qi, deficiency of the heart-yin and the kidney-yin, deficiency of the heart-yang and the kidney-yang, stagnated heat in the liver and the spleen, the lung channel-heat etc. 2. The main methods of medical treatments for palmoplantar hyperhidrosis are clearing out the stomach-heat, eliminating dampness and heat in the spleen and the stomach, invigorating the spleen-qi and the stomach-qi, reinforcing the spleen-yin and the stomach-yin, warming the stomach, relaxing the liver and alleviating of mental depression and tonifying the heart and the kidney etc. 3. The main prescriptions of palmoplantar hyperhidrosis are Taesihotang, Palmultang-kakam, Samyeongbaechusan, Chongbisan, Sasammaekmundongtang, the others are Leejungtang, Hwangkikonjungtang, Seungkitang, Boyumtang, Baekhotang, Chongsimyonjayum, Moyrosan, etc. 4. Local medicine for external use are liquid after boiling alum in water for about 1 or 2 hours, liquid after boiling alum and pueraria root in water and liquid after boiling stragalus root, pueraria root, ledebouriella root and schizonepeta in water, etc. 5. The methods of acupuncture therapy include invigorating Bokyru, Yumkuk and purgating Hapkouk, or invigorating Bokyru, Kihae and purgating Hapkouk, or steadying Hapkouk, Nokung.

        화개산(華蓋散)의 항염에 대한 실험적 연구

        Objective : The purpose of this study was to investigate the anti-inflammatory effects of Hwagae-san extract(HGSE) on the peritoneal macrophage. Methods : To evaluate anti-inflammatory effects of HGSE, We measured cytokines(interleukin-6; IL-6, interleukin-12; IL-12, tumor necrosis factor-${\alpha}$; TNF-${\alpha}$) and nitric oxide(NO) production in lipopolysaccharide(LPS)-induced macrophages. Furthermore, We examined molecular mechanism using western blot and also LPS-induced endotoxin shock. Results : 1. HGSE did not have any cytotoxic effect in the peritoneal macrophages. 2. HGSE reduced LPS-induced IL-6, TNF-${\alpha}$, IL-12 and NO production in peritoneal macrophages. 3. HGSE inhibited the activation of extracelluar signal-regulated kinase(ERK), C-Jun NH2-terminal kinase(JNK) but not of p38, degradation of IkB-${\alpha}$ in the LPS-stimulated peritoneal macrophages. 4. HGSE inhibited the production of TNF-$\alpha$, IL-6 and IL-12 in serum after LPS injection. Conclusion : These results suggest that HGSE may inhibit the production of TNF-${\alpha}$, IL-6, and IL-12 through inhibition of ERK and JNK activation, and that HGSE may be beneficial for inflammatory diseases.

        마황산(麻黃散) 및 그 구성약물(構成藥物)이 GUINEAPIG의 기관지(氣管支) 평활근(平滑筋)에 미치는 영향(影響)

        Mahwangsan is used in the treatment of asthma due to wind and cold(風寒喘). This study was carried out to investigate the effect of Mahwangsan extract and each drug composing it on the contractile force of the isolated guinea pig trachea muscle and elucidate its mechanism. The results were obtained as follows; 1. The isolated trachea smooth muscle of guinea pig was signifi-cantly relaxed by the administration of Mahwangsan extract. 2. The contractile response of the isolated trachea smooth muscle of guinea pig to histamine was significantly inhibited by the administration of Mahwangsan extract. 3. The contractile response of the isolated trachea smooth muscle of guinea pig to histamine was significantly inhibited by the administraction of Herba Ephedrae, Cortex Cinnamoni, Flos Farfarae, Fructus Chebulae and Semen Armeniacae extract. 4. The contractile response of the isolated trachea smooth muscle of guinea pig to acetylcholine was significantly inhibited by the administration of Mahwangsan extract. 5. The contractile response of the isolated trachea smooth muscle of guinea pig to acetylcholine was significantly inhibited by the administration of Herba Ephedrae, Flos Farfarae, Fructus Chebulae and Semen Armeniacae extract. 6. The contractile response of the isolated trachea smooth muscle of guinea pig to 5-hydroxytryptamine was significantly inhibited by the administration of Mahwangsan extract. 7. The contractile response of the isolated trachea smooth muscle of guinea pig to 5-hydroxytryptamine was significantly inhibited by the administration of Herba Ephedrae, Flos Farfarae, Fructus Chebulae and Semen Armeniacae extract.

        Bee Venom과 Sweet Bee Venom이 지방세포 대사에 미치는 영향

        Objectives The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of Bee Venom and Sweet Bee Venom to the primary cultured preadipocyte, adipocytes, and localized fat tissue. Methods Decreased preadipocyte proliferation and decreased lipogenesis are mechanisms to reduce obesity. So, preadipocytes and adipocytes were performed on cell cultures using Sprague-Dawley Rats and treated with 0.01-1mg/ml Bee Venom and Sweet Bee Venom. And porcine skin including fat tissue after treated Bee Venom and Sweet Bee Venom according to the dosage dependent variation are investigated the histologic changes after injection of these Pharmacopuncture. Result Following results were obtained from the preadipocyte proliferation and lipolysis of adipocyte and histologic investigation of fat tissue. 1. Bee Venom and Sweet Bee Venom showed the effect of decreased preadipocyte proliferation depend on concentration. 2. Bee Venom and Sweet Bee Venom showed the effect of decreased the activity of glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase(GPDH) significantly. 3. Bee Venom was not showed the effect of lipolysis, but Sweet Bee Venom was increased in low dosage and decreased in high dosage. 4. Investigated the histologic changes in porcine fat tissue after treated Bee Venom and Sweet Bee Venom, we knew that these Pharmacopuncture was activated nonspecific lysis of cell membranes depend on concentration. Conclusion These results suggest that Bee Venom and Sweet Bee Venom efficiently induces decreased proliferation of preadipocyte and lipolysis in adipose tissue.
