Objectives: This paper investigated the effects of 8 Constitution Acupuncture on Heart Rate Variability(HRV) and is intended to find out 8 Constitutional difference on Autonomous Function after 8 Constitution Acupuncture stimulation. Methods: The subjects were comprised of 42 volunteers(11 men and 31 women). The volunteers had acupunctured by 8 Constitution Acupuncture Therapy. HRV and Mean Heart Rate(MHR) were measured by TAS9v2.0(IEMBIO & Saerom, Korea) on two times: before and immediately after acupuncture stimulation. The SPSS 13.0 for windows was used for statistical analysis: Mann-Whitney U-test, Paired Samples T -test and Wilcoxon signed rank test were used to verify the results. Results: 1. There was no statistically significant difference on HRV and MHR between Sympathicotonia and Vagotonia before acupuncture. 2. In the whole subject, immediately after acupuncture stimulation, MHR showed a significant decrease(p<0.01) and Ln(TP), Ln(LF) and Ln(HF) showed a significant increase(p<0.05). But there was no significant difference in LHR. 3. Immediately after acupuncture stimulation, MHR showed a significant decrease and Ln(TP), Ln(HF), showed a significant increase in Pulmotonia(p<0.05), Ln(TP) showed a significant increase in Pancretonia(p<0.05),MHR showed a significant decrease and Ln(TP) showed a significant increase in Hepatonia(p<0.05), and MHR showed a significant decrease and Ln(TP), Ln(HF), showed a significant increase in cholecystonia(p<0.05). But there were no significant difference on HRV and MHR in Colonotonia and vesicotonia. Conclusion: The results suggest that 8 Constitution Acupuncture is associated with changed activity in sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system. Further study is needed for investigating the effects of 8 Constitution Acupuncture on HRV and autonomic nervous system.

Background: There was seldom study about method that diagnose 8 Constitution beside method of pulse diagnosis in 8 Constitution Medicine. Objectives: This study is to make out 8 Constitution Medicine Diagnosis Expert System Development used CBR(Case based Reasoning). Methods : First, at case base construction process we constructed case base for CBR embodiment because gathering 925 cases all to patient who constitution is verified, and second, at study model establishment process superior expert system development by purpose CBR of reasoning process dividing fundamental type CBR that spend basis data value and expert typeⅠⅡⅢ CBR that reflect weight in basis data value according to advice expert opinion, and third, system embodiment process explained about way to give process and weight that diagnose constitution through Nearest Neighbor Method sampling process of CBR techniques, and fourth, at system estimation process we selected superior CBR model because comparing and estimate the diagnosis rate of expert system with fundamental type system (GECBR) model and expert typeⅠⅡⅢ CBR system (AVCBR, AACBR, AGCBR) model that reflect expert opinion in fundamental type system. GECBR and AGCBR chose on superior study model. Through such 4 study process, we developed 8 constitution diagnosis expert system lastly. Results: 1. When we select GECBR that is fundamental type by reasoning system, diagnosis rate 78.91% of 8 constitution diagnosis expert system is expected, and the constitution diagnosis rate Hepatonia 90.4%, Cholecystonia 63.0%, Pancreotonia 91.1%, Gastrotonia 0%, Pulmotonia 71.2%, Colonotonia 74.4%, Renotonia 37.5%, Vesicotonia 67.1% expect. 2. When we select AGCBR that is expert type Ⅲ by reasoning system, diagnosis rate 77.51% of 8 constitution diagnosis expert system is expected, and the constitution diagnosis rate Hepatonia 93.4%, Cholecystonia 58.5%, Pancreotonia 91.1%, Gastrotonia 0%, Pulmotonia 73.1%, Colonotonia 64.4%, Renotonia 41.7%, Vesicotonia 72.2% expect. Conclusion: Based on this study, 8 constitution diagnosis expert system may give help to diagnose 8 constitution, and it is going to utilize as objective estimation tool of 8 constitution diagnosis, and further study for 8 Constitution Medicine Diagnosis Expert System Development used CBR(Case based Reasoning) is needed to supplement this study.

Background: There was seldom study about method that estimate expertness of pulse diagnosis in 8 Constitution Medicine in spite of the diagnostician importance in 8 Constitution Medicine Objectives: This study is to evaluate diagnostician`s consistency and accuracy about pulse diagnosis in 8 Constitution Medicine using Gage R&R study. Methods: The subjects were comprised of 28 volunteers. Among theme, 3 diagnosticians and 10 participants were chosen through questionnaire. Diagnosticians diagnosed participant`s Constitution by pulse diagnosis in 8 Constitution Medicine with hiding their eyes by eyepatch. MINITAB statistical software(ver. 13.20) was used for statistical analysis: Attribute Gage R&R study was used to verify the results. Results: 1. In the measurements of consistency, diagnostician b(agreement=80%, Value of k=0.8276) was very good, diagnostician a(agreement=70%, Value of k=0.7465) was good, and diagnostician c(agreement=50%, Value of k=0.5365) was moderate. 2. In the measurements of accuracy, diagnostician b(agreement =70%, Value of k=0.6812) was good, diagnostician a(agreement=60%, Value of k=0.6414) was good, and diagno-stician c(agreement=0%, Value of k=-0.1000) was poor. 3. In confidence of diagnosis, diagnostician c was 75%, diagnostician a was 70%, and diagno-stician b was 64%. Conclusion: The results suggest that diagnostician`s consistency and accuracy about pulse diagnosis in 8 Constitution Medicine can be evaluated by Gage R&R study. Further study is needed for estimation method of pulse diagnosis in 8 Constitution Medicine.

Background and Purpose: There was seldom study about method that diagnose 8 Constitution beside method of pulse diagnosis in 8 Constitution Medicine Objectives: This study is to make out check list for 8 Constitution Medicine Diagnosis Expert System Development used CBR(Case based Reasoning). Methods: Review of literatures about special quality element of 8 Constitution and supplement learning advice of 8 Constitution Medicine Experts constructed knowledge base. And then, knowledge base divided through AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process), and made out check list with this. Results: Knowledge base based on special quality element of 8 Constitution was divided by 5 greate classification and 25 bisection kind, and check list consisted of 251 item was made out through this. Conclusion: Based on this research, cases necessary to make 8 Constitution Medicine Diagnosis Expert System can be gathered through check list, and further study for 8 Constitution Medicine Diagnosis Expert System Development used CBR(Case based Reasoning) is needed to supplement this research.

Background: Colloid solutions are used to treat hypovolemia and expanding plasma, but they may inhibit platelet function and reduce the level of coagulation factors during surgery. This study was conducted to compare the effects of hydroxyethyl starch (HES) on adenosine diphosphate (ADP)- and collagen-induced platelet aggregation in patients undergoing total intravenous anesthesia. Methods: Patients undergoing endoscopic sinus surgery under total intravenous anesthesia with propofol and remifentanil were divided into a group that underwent fluid management with only crystalloid solution (n=15) and a group that was managed with crystalloid solution that included 6% HES (130/0.4) (n=15). ADP-and collagen-induced platelet aggregation were measured 5 minutes before induction, after the first intraoperative hour, and one hour postoperatively. Results: Significantly diminished ADP- and collagen-induced aggregation values were observed intraoperatively when compared with the preoperative value in the patients that were managed with colloid solution that included HES. In addition, significantly diminished collagen-induced aggregation values were observed intraoperatively when compared with the preoperative value in the group that was managed with the solution that only contained the crystalloid. However, ADP -and collagen-induced platelet aggregation were recovered postoperatively in both groups. Conclusions: The results of this study indicated that fluid therapy with colloid solution that contained 6% HES (130/0.4) may diminish ADP-induced platelet aggregation intraoperatively in patients subjected to total intravenous anesthesia. Background: Eight-Constitution Medicine (ECM) devides the human body into eight constitutions. Up until now, checking the pulse types is only way to classify the eight constitution. Recently we try to make a questionnaire that is based on the Eight-Constitution characters and analyze the answer from patients who were classified into one of the eight constitutions according to their pulse types and their responses to constitution-acupuncture therapy Objective: This study intends to analyze each answer of the Eight-Constitution Questionnaire with independent sample t-test. Methods: Participants of this study were outpatients in ECM clinics located in Korea. The resources were collected from 925 patients who were classified into one of the eight constitutions according to their pulse types and their responses to constitution-acupuncture therapy. SPSS 13.0 for Windows was used for independent sample t-test. Results and Conclusions: 1. The proportion of participants` constitutions is in the order of Pancreotonia (28.0%), Colonotonia (17.3%), Pulmotonia (18.1%), Hepatonia (18.1%), Vesicotonia (8.5%), Cholecystotonia (7.0%), Renotonia (2.6%) and Gastrotonia (0.4%). 2. Eight-Constitution Questionnaire consists of 5 parts; Appearance, Character, Body reaction, Physiology & Pathology and Food reaction. 3. 10 items were chosen among 42 question about Appearance. 4. Due to the deficiency of Gastrotonia examples, useful items have to be given up. If we can gather Gastrotonia examples, we can use meaningful items more than 10.

Objectives The purpose of our study is to know Temperament & Character of each Eight Constitutions (Hepatonia, Cholecystonia, Pancreotonia, Gastrotonia, Pulmotonia, Colonotonia, Renotonia, Vesicotonia) classified by the short form Eight-constitution medicine questionnaire (ECM-32) test. Methods We analyzed the result of ECM-32 test and Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI) submitted by 32 patients who had visited the △△ oriental medicine clinic in Nowon-gu, Seoul between September and October at 2011. Results -The participants were classified as one of Eight Constitutions ( 3 Hepatonia(9.4%), 7 Cholecystonia, (21.9%), 3 Pancreotonia(9.4%), 0 Gastrotonia(0%), 5 Pulmotonia(15.6%), 4 Colonotonia(12.5%), 6 Renotonia(18.8%), 4 Vesicotonia(12.5%) ) by ECM-32. -The seven dimensions of TCI were compared between the different Eight Constitutions using Kruskal-Wallis test. There were significant differences between Hepatonia and Pulmotonia, Hepatonia and Colonotonia, Cholecystonia and Pulmotonia, Pulmotonia and Renotonia, Pulmotonia and Vesicotonia in the Reward Dependence of Temperament dimensions. -The Subsclaes of TCI were compared between the different Eight Constitutions using Kruskal-Wallis test. There were significant differences between Cholecystonia and Pulmotonia, Pulmotonia and Renotonia, Pulmotonia and Vesicotonia in the RD3. There were significant differences between Hepatonia and Cholecystonia, Hepatonia and Pancreotonia, Hepatonia and Pulmotonia, Hepatonia and Renotonia in the RD4. Conclusions There is not a significant interrelationship between Feature of each Eight Constitutions and Temperament & Character in TCI. This study is meaningful because it is the first study to verify Temperament and Character of Eight Constitutions. Further studies with increased case and improved questionnaire are needed to supplement this research.
