Automotive torque converters have recently been designed with an increasingly narrow profile for the purpose of achieving a smaller size, which also translates into savings. New torque converter with flatted torus was designed to compare with reference torque converter having circular torus. Flatted torus has non-axisymmetrical ellipticity and a trapezoid stator created by typical blade design method. To evaluate the overall performance, CFD code was used. The present numerical analysis was performed for the full three-dimensional turbulent flows. The torque ratio and Input capacity factor of Flatted torque converter were compared with reference model having circular torus and have been good agreement with it.<br/>
Surface plasmon remonance based single-walled carbon nanotube detection

In this study, we developed detection method of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) in an aqueous solution using surface plasmon resonance (SPR) spectroscopy. A strong affinity conjugation with biotin-streptavidin was adopted for a sensitive and specific detection on a sensing mechanism. During the pretreatment process, the SWNT surface was functionalized and hydrophilized using a thymine-chain based biotinylated single-strand DNA linker. In addition, bovine serum albumin was added to enhance the degree of dispersion of SWNT. The pretreated SWNTs were captured on a sensing sensor chip surface by streptavidins immobilized on biotilylated gold sensing film. The captured SWNTs were measured in real-time using SPR spectroscopy. By our detection method using SPR sensor, we achieved the limit of detection as 100 fg/ml and the SPR sensor showed a linear characteristic within the range of 100 pg/ml to 200 ng/ml.
양 말단 및 측쇄에 관능기를 갖는 고분자로 제조된 유기 / 무기 나노컴포지트의 분산특성

Organic/inorganic hybrid composites were prepared by sol-gel reaction for the mixture of triethoxysilane-group terminated telechelic polymer and tetraethoxysilane(TEOS). Formation of coupling bonds played a deciding role in determining the dispersion characteristics of these hybrid composites. The hybrid composite showed the reduced optical transparency due to the crystallization of poly(ethylene glycol)(PEG) units as the chain length of PEG was increased. Organic/inorganic hybrid composites were prepared by sol-gel reaction for the mixture of methacrylate polymers having side carbonyl groups and TEOS. Methacrylate polymer/silica hybrid composites showed enhanced fine dispersion due to the favorable intermolecular hydrogen bonding interaction. However, the hybrid composites showed macro dispersion characteristics despite of considerable amount of hydrogen bonding as the contents of the carbonyl groups were decreased.
