Recently, youth unemployment is not a mere economic problem in Korea. It could be developed into a serious social problem. It has been long since youth unemployment rate was more than double in total unemployment rate, which stood at 3.5 percent in 2005 and then the inactivity among the younger job-seekers is appearing to be chronic.<BR> Hence, this paper examines the status and causes of the youth unemployment problem and studies the possibility to apply the Demand-Supply Chain Management to the problem.
자동채염기의 확률론적 구조설계 구현을 위한 신뢰성 해석 응용과 비교연구

This paper describes a comparative study of characteristics of probabilistic design using various reliability analysis methods in the structure design of an automatic salt collector. The thickness sizing variables of the main structural member were considered to be random variables, including the uncertainty of corrosion, which would be an inevitable hazard in the work environment of the automatic salt collector. Probabilistic performance functions were selected from the strength performances of the automatic salt collector structure. First-order reliability method, second-order reliability method, mean value reliability method, and adaptive importance sampling method were applied during the reliability analyses. The probabilistic design performances such as reliability probability and numerical costs based on the reliability analysis methods were compared to the Monte Carlo simulation results. The adaptive importance sampling method showed the most rational results for the probabilistic structure design of the automatic salt collector.

This paper present a structural design review of a marine loading arm used for the transfer of a liquid cargo from a ship or offshore plant. The marine loading arm is installed on a ship, offshore plant, or jetty in order to load or unload liquid cargo such as crude oil, liquefied natural gas(LNG), chemical products, etc. The structural design of this marine loading arm is obliged to comply with the design and construction specifications regulated by the oil companies and international marine forum (OCIMF). In this paper, the structural safety of the initial design for the marine loading arm is evaluated for the design load conditions required by various operational modes. The evaluated results based on a finite element analysis (FEA) are reviewed in relation to the OCIMF specifications.

Recently, there has been an increase in the construction of various types of coastal structures for efficient wave dissipation, seawater exchange, and so on. Among these, a perforated slit caisson has been widely used to reduce the reflected wave energy and the wave pressure on the structure. Therefore, many studies on the wave force on a caisson, as well as the wave reflection from it, have been carried out with laboratory experiments and numerical analyses, considering it as a 2-D problem. However, because a structure like a perforated slit caisson has a variable 3-D shape, waves forces should be considered as a 3-D problem. Therefore, in this paper, a fully-nonlinear 3-D numerical model. (LES-WASS-3D) is proposed to examine the reflection characteristics of a perforated slit caisson with two chambers, The numerical model, LES-WASS-3D, was verified in a 3-D wave field by a comparison with existing experimental data for wave reflection coefficients. Then, using the numerical results, the reflection from a perforated slit caisson with two chambers was examined in relation to wave steepness, chamber width, and the shape/porosity of perforated slit.

Recently, youth unemployment is not a mere economic problem. It could be develop into a serious social problem. According to data released by the National Statistical Office that the jobless rate for younger koreans aged between 15 and 29 reached 8 percent in 2005, which was more than double in total unemployment rate. Unemployment among young people has been getting worse since the foreign exchange crisis. Hence, this paper examines the status and causes of the youth unemployment problem and studies the possibility to apply the Demand-Supply Chain Management to the problem.
구조최적설계를 위한 다양한 근사 최적화 기법의 적용 및 비교

본 논문은 범프 및 브레이크 하중조건 하에서 자동차 넉클의 강도설계에 관한 회귀모델 기반 근사최적화 기법의 비교 연구를 다룬다. 설계문제는 응력, 변형 및 진동주파수의 제한조건 하에서 중량을 최소화하여 설계변수인 단면치수가 결정되도록 정식화 된다. 비교 연구를 위해 사용된 기법은 순차적 근사최적화(SAO), 순차적 이점 대각 이차 근사최적화(STDQAO), 그리고 개선된 이동최소자승법(MLSM) 기반 근사최적화 기법인 CF-MLSM와 Post-MLSM 이다. SAO와 STDQAO 적용을 위해서는 상용 프로세스통합 설계최적화(PIDO) 코드를 사용한다. 개선된 MLSM 기반 근사최적화 기법들은 제한조건 가용성을 보장할 수 있도록 새롭게 개발되었다. 근사최적화 기법의 결과는 수치적 성능과 관련하여 실제 비근사최적화 결과와 비교검토 된다. The paper deals with comparative study of regression model based approximate optimization techniques in strength design of an automotive knuckle component under bump and brake loading conditions. The design problem is formulated such that cross sectional sizing variables are determined by minimizing the weight of a knuckle component subject to stresses, deformations, and vibration frequency constraints. The techniques used in the comparative study are sequential approximate optimization (SAO), sequential two-point diagonal quadratic approximate optimization (STDQAO), and the enhanced moving least squares method (MLSM) based approximate optimization such as CF (constraint feasible)-MLSM and Post-MLSM. Commercial process integration and design optimization (PIDO) tools are utilized for the applications of SAO and STDQAO. The enhanced MLSM based approximate optimization techniques are newly developed to ensure the constraint feasibility. In the context of numerical performances, the solution results from approximate optimization techniques are compared to actual non-approximate optimization.

Recently, corporate environment is faced with uncertainty that did not suffer in the past. In addition, as the supply chain was expanded and lengthened, the flow of information and material was complicated. Increase in complexity which amplifies the variability of the individual steps in supply chains further adds to the uncertainty. The bullwhip effect that refers the phenomenon where order variability increases as the orders move upstream in the supply chain became serious. The bullwhip effect is more and more important especially for the enterprise in the supply chain. So, there are many studies now since it was observed about 100 years ago. The aim of this paper is to analyze how to solve the bullwhip effect by using TRIZ (Teoriya Resheniya Izobretatelskikh Zadach). TRIZ is one of the most famous tools for creative solving that applied in many fields ranging from management as well as engineering. Among problems, the dilemma needs creative solutions that require handling the contradictions inherent in that. Among various kinds of problem solving techniques, TRIZ provides the concept of physical contradiction as a common problem solving principle. This study provides a simple process of solving problem explains a case of solving problem in the management field and shows the availability of theory in the inventory control. In accordance with the proposed solving process, the paper analyzes the bullwhip effect by applying the TRIZ tools and then identifies the solution directions. Next, the current studies are classified by the above analysis and important managerial concepts are proposed. Lastly, directions for future research on this area are suggested.
