Many Countries are making nationwide efforts to reduce the energy consumption which causes greenhouse gas emissions and global warming problems. Energy performance assessments and certification systems have been in force to save energy consumption of residential buildings, and are anticipated to have strong effects through the systems. Korean Building Energy Efficiency Rating System is in its early stages and is considered that the additional upgrade is needed for the accurate assessment. Thus, in this study, the assessment methods of the Building Energy Efficiency Rating System of Korea and the SAP2005 of UK were compared and energy requirements of an actual residential building were calculated with two assessment methods, respectively. The strengths and shortcomings of two systems were analyzed and a way of improving Korean system was suggested.

The IIS(Internal Insulation System) is typically applied in most Korean apartment buildings. Consequently, there exist many thermal bridges at the wall-slab and wall-wall joints in tile envelope. It is expected that the EIFS(External Insulation and Finish System) is tile solution to this problem. The aim of this study is to suggest external insulation design schemes suitable for Korean apartment buildings in order to facilitate the application of EIFS. After making 37 alternatives for 12 parts, each alternative's relative insulation performance and constructability were then evaluated. As results, 12 design schemes for 12 parts were suggested.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the influencing factors of energy usage of electrical devices in apartment buildings and present a predictive model. To do this, we used the data collected from prior studies. The data are measured in 101 generations of apartments in Seoul, and are composed of electrical and equipment energy measurement data collected during 2019 and generation characteristics survey data. The data were analyzed with correlation and regression techniques, and for this purpose, the Statsmodel package from Jupiter was used. Through correlation analysis, the effective influencing factors of electrical device energy usage were derived. Based on the results, a regression analysis was conducted and an estimation model was derived to estimate the amount of electrical device energy used. Therefore, effective influencing factors and estimation models derived from this study can be used as basic data for analyzing and estimating electrical device energy usage.

Based on the building physical factor, residential information and characteristics of device use, this study is analyzing the factors which influences the use of domestic hot water, Electric Appliances, and Lighting energy. The study is also proposing an energy consumption estimation model so that individuals could search for ways to reduce energy consumption. For analysis and estimation of energy consumption, we used statistical techniques such as correlation analysis, ANOVA and regression analysis. Correlation analysis and ANOVA help determine the factors affecting the use of domestic hot water, Electric Appliances, and Lighting energy. Regression analysis derived the estimation model. Some samples taken at random were used to verify the model.

The aim of this study is to analyze the influence of various factors on energy consumption of apartment buildings. Energy consumption data of the Green Together, integrated building energy management system maintained by the government were used, and end-use and primary energy consumption data of 2012 were analyzed for 181 apartment complexes completed between 2004 and 2011 in Seoul. Energy consumption by use, source and heating type were analyzed. Then, energy consumption trends were analyzed and suggested according to energy efficiency ratings, number of households, areas for exclusive use, number of floors, core types, building types, orientations and completion years.

A national research project is being conducted to provide building energy information, which is now mainly limited to energy consumption data by fuel type, for each end use such as space heating, space cooling, domestic hot water (DHW), etc. In order to achieve research objectives, energy consumption measurement systems by end use are being installed in sample buildings over a six-year period, which began in 2014. The aim of this study is to present statistical values on site energy use intensities by end use calculated using measurement data of 48 sample office buildings in Seoul for 1 year from May 2017 to April 2018, and to compare these data to the U.S. Commercial Building Energy Consumption Survey(CBECS) 2012 data.

The measured data are being statistically processed for constructing an information system on energy use and CO2 emission intensities by end use. This study aims to present statistical values on site energy use intensities by end use calculated using measurement data of 71 sample apartment units in Seoul for 1 year from May 2017 to April 2018, and to compare these data to the U.S. Residential Energy Consumption Survey (RECS) 2015 data. The average site EUIs are in the following order: space heating > electrical appliances > DHW > cooking > lighting > space cooling > air movement. The average site EUIs have the same order as those of the RECS 2015 data: space heating > electrical appliances, etc. > DHW > space cooling. The number of sample apartment units will continue to increase until 2019 (total number of samples 200) and intensity data by end use will be continuously updated through collection of measurement data.

The purpose of this study is to develop a estimation method of energy consumption by end-use in office buildings. For this, the current status of information on building energy use was investigated, and the domestic and foreign literature on the classification of energy use in non-residential buildings and the estimation method of energy use were reviewed. In addition, the characteristics of energy consumption by end-use were analyzed with measurement data of 48 office buildings in Seoul. As results, the annual and monthly estimation method of energy consumption by end-use in office buildings using public and measurement data was presented, and the applicability of the estimation method was examined by applying to sample office buildings.
