Vol.44 No.1
Recently, the importance of velocity, one of the characteristics of big data (5V: Volume, Variety, Velocity, Veracity, and Value), has been emphasized in the data processing, which has led to several studies on the real-time stream processing, a technology for quick and accurate processing and analyses of big data. In this paper, we propose a Squall framework using Time-triggered Message-triggered Object (TMO) technology, a model that is widely used for processing real-time big data. Moreover, we provide a description of Squall framework and its operations under a single node. TMO is an object model that supports the non-regular real-time processing method for certain conditions as well as regular periodic processing for certain amount of time. A Squall framework can support the real-time event stream of big data and micro-batch processing with outstanding performances, as compared to Apache storm and Spark Streaming. However, additional development for processing real-time stream under multiple nodes that is common under most frameworks is needed. In conclusion, the advantages of a TMO model can overcome the drawbacks of Apache storm or Spark Streaming in the processing of real-time big data. The TMO model has potential as a useful model in real-time big data processing.

Vol.15 No.5
본 논문은 생체시스템을 모방하여 무선센서망에서 에너지의 소모와 연시간을 줄이기 위한 BISA(Bio-inspired Scheduling Algorithm)를 제안한다. WireWireless sensor networks(WSNs) are generally comprised of densely deployed sensor nodes, which causes highly redundant sensor data transmission and energy waste. Many studies have focused on energy saving in WSNs. However, delay problem also should be taken into consideration for mission-critical applications. In this paper, we propose a BISA (Bio-Inspired Scheduling Algorithm) to reduce the energy consumption and delay for WSNs inspired by biological systems. BISA investigates energy-efficient routing path and minimizes the energy consumption and delay using multi-channel for data transmission. Through simulations, we observe that the BISA archives energy efficiency and delay guarantees.

In this paper, a CORBA-based collaborative medical image analysis and visualization system, which provides high accessibility and usability of the system for the users on distributed environment is introduced. The system allows us to manage datasets and manipulates medical images such as segmentation and volume visualization of computed geometry from biomedical images in distributed environments. Using Bayesian classification technique and an active contour model the system provides classification results of medical images or boundary information of specific tissue. Based on such information, the system can create real time 3D volume model from medical imagery. Moreover, the developed system supports collaborative work among multiple users using broadcasting and synchronization mechanisms. Since the system is developed using Java and CORBA, which provide distributed programming, the remote clients can access server objects via method invocation, without knowing where the distributed objects reside or what operating system it executes on.
