It is common to design the duct branches where to supply the required air flow for individual room in a residential apartment house. However it is difficult to adjust the air volume adequately in small air duct branches in residential ventilation system. The purpose of this study is to figure out the performance of Multidrop chamber coupling system for the residential ventilation system. The experiments were designed to evaluate Multidrop chamber system in apartment units of 84 . Multidrop chamber duct and general duct were established on the ceiling of the apartment to evaluate the distribution performance of air supply rate. As a result, distribution deviation of air supply rate in the multidrop chamber system is different from designed air supply rate by -3% ~ 10%. Therefore, the Multidrop chamber system is considered to satisfy proper air supply rate of each room in Apartment Houses.

This study examines the effect of old carpet on indoor air quality since the carpet is considered to be one of the sources of air pollution in indoor space. Experiments were performed in order to investigate how the air contaminated by the pollutants influences on the residents' productivity. The results are as follow. The more pollutants existed in the space the less satisfaction the residents had. Therefore, the carpet reduced the level of satisfaction by 3%. When carpets were installed the productivity decreased compared with the case when carpet was not installed.

This study examines the effects of illuminance fluctuations on occupants" visual perception and comfort in a small private office. Experiments were conducted in an actual office space, where six fluorescent lighting fixtures were installed and no daylight was available. Twelve healthy college students participated and five fluctuation ranges were applied to the 500 lx of task illuminance on desktops. Reading tasks using a computer and monitor were conducted, while the experiments were performed. Results imply that the level of visual satisfaction was impaired noticeably as the fluctuation ranges increased. The fluctuation range of desktop illuminance should be maintained within 63.34 lx to guarantee visual satisfaction. The perception for visual distraction and stimulus showed a similar tendency as the fluctuation ranges varied. In order to avoid the visual sensation for distraction and stimulus, the fluctuation ranges should be within 97.21 lx and 104.59 lx, respectively. Regression results indicate that the perception for visual satisfaction was affected by the perception for visual distraction, visual stimulus and visual warmness. The visual distraction was the strongest influential factor to the visual satisfaction. The increase of mean vote by 1 on the voting scale led to the decrease of visual satisfaction by 0.441 on the voting scale.
소규모 사무실 공간의 조명에너지 절약을 위한 제어 분석

This study investigates control performance of daylight dimming control system under various sky conditions in order to examine the influence of daylight conditions on dimming performance. Field measurements were conducted in a full-scale mock-up model to collect actual data and computer simulations were performed to determine light output of fixtures. Results indicate that the variation patterns of desktop illuminance were similar to those of illuminance arriving at window. The direct component of daylight affected photosensor illuminance generating strong reflected components from wall surfaces. Relationship between desktop and photosensor illuminance was stronger than that of between window and photosensor. This implies that desktop illuminance was effective to predict the variation of photosensor illuminance. Compared to overcast sky conditions, dimming control was effective under clear sky and achieved good energy savings. Under overcast sky conditions, excessive dimming occurred due to the influence of electric lighting. It appears that control algorithm or photosensor conditions should be reset in order to block light input to photosensor and generate less dimming from lighting fixtures.

This study discusses the system performances of photosensor-based dimming controls in a small office with a lightshelf. Computer simulations using the Lightscape software were conducted for a variety of daylight conditions. Four control algorithms were employed, and partially-shielded and unshielded photosensors were used to predict dimming levels. Results indicate that control algorithms containing constant and power functions caused excessive dimming and failed to achieve target illuminance under all sky conditions. A linear algorithm showing relatively insensitive dimming levels to photosensor illuminance was appropriate to achieve the optimum system performance under clear sky, when the photosensor was partially-shielded. In this case, the lighting energy savings ranged from 33.3 % to 74.5 %. The system performance of dimming control based on the four algorithms under overcast sky provided excessive dimming and led to failures of controls. The unshielded photosensors failed to provide the target illuminance under the majority of conditions. The linear regression models between the outdoor global daylight illuminance and photosensor illuminance due to daylight were statistically meaningful with strong correlations.

Technologies and studies about shading devices have been conducted continuously for building designs to save energy. However, various problems have occurred due to the lack of relevant codes and standards about the designs and constructions of shading devices. In order to provide fundamental data for the standards about shading devices, this study examines the physical performance of membrane materials for shading devices, which are used domestically and internationally. A variety of tests were conducted to analyze the physical performances of membrane materials used for shading devices.
포토센서의 민감도에 따른 자연광을 고려한 인공조명 제어시스템 성능

This study examines the control performance of a photosensor dimming control system in a small office according to three different photosensor sensitivity. Computer simulations were performed for the office with a double skin envelope system under various daylight conditions. Horizontal blind was considered to be installed on the external envelope and a retractable fabric shading device was installed on the internal envelope. Three sky conditions recommended by CIE were used at different times of a day and year. A partiailly-shielded photosensor was placed at the center of ceiling. Photosensor with the most sensitive level to daylight failed to achieve target illuminance providing less light output. The sensor with the least sensitive level provided excessive light output and resulted in overshooting the target illuminance. The sensor with medium sensitive level achieved good control performance and successfully provided target illuminance with reduced light output. The correlation between destkop illuminance and photosensor illuminance due to daylight was greater than 0.79. Reasonable lighting energy savings was achieved by the partially-shielded photosensor with medium sensitivity.
