The purpose of this study was to evaluate the rate of adherence of bacteria on various denture relining materials and to find out the effects of chitosan, when it was added to denture relining materials. Denture relining materials such as Tokuso rebase normal $set^{(R)}$, Mild $rebaron^{(R)}$, $Kooliner^{TM}$, and New $truliner^{TM}$ were used in this study. The adherence of Streptococcus mutans was studied on the surfaces in the denture relining materials with chitosan and in those without chitosan. When chitosan was added to M17 broth and MRS broth, the viable cell count of Streptococcus mutans was reduced. The viable cell count of Streptococcus mutans on the specimens decreased in the following order : Mild rebaron, Tokuso rebase normal set, and Newtruliner and Kooliner. The deture relining materials with chitosan showed a lower rate of adherence of Streptococcus mutans than those without chitosan.
Konus Telescopic Denture의 내관 각도 및 높이에 따른 지대치 및 지지조직의 응력 분석

This study was to evaluate and to compare the compressive strength and the displacement effecting the abutment or the residual ridge which are transformed by the angle and the heights of the konus denture inner crown when restorating the unilateral konus denture by using the mandibular canine and the 1st premolar as an abutment. The author made 9 different models for different inner crown heights and konus angles. The inner crown height were divided to 5mm, 6mm, and 7mm and konus angles was divided to $4^{\circ}$, $6^{\circ}$, and $8^{\circ}$. And then in each model, 5kg of $15^{\circ}$ mesial load was stressed on the central fossa of the 1st premolar and the 1st molar. The stresses and displacement were measured using the finite element analysis. The results were as follows 1. The maximum compressive strength was shown on the connective area of the abutment and the denture base. 2. As the angle of the inner crown becomes increased, the compressive strength was shown smaller. 3. As the height of the inner crown becomes increased, the maximum compressive strength was shown smaller while the compressive strength of the root apex and the residual ridge showed larger. 4. When the stress was loaded only on the 1st premolar, the more compressive strength was concentrated on the root apex area of the 1st premolar. 5. When the stress was loaded only on the 1st premolar, the compressive strength was concentrated uniformly on the abutment and the residual ridge. 6. When the stress was loaded only on the 1st molar, the maximum displacement was shown on the distal part of the residual ridge.
COBALT-CHROMIUM 합금의 표면처리방법에 따른 레진 의치상의 접착강도 및 표면상태에 대한 연구

The purpose of this experiment was to determine the effects of various treatments on denture base resin to metal bond for cobalt-chromium alloy. The metal surface was treated as follows. Group 1 : Sandblasted with $50{\mu}m$ aluminum oxide. Group 2 : Sandblasted with $250{\mu}m$ aluminum oxide. Group 3 : Sandblasted with $250{\mu}m$ aluminum oxide and followed by silicoating. Group 4 : Electrochemically etched. Group 5 : treated with oxidizing solution. Group 6 : Beaded with $200{\mu}m$ retention structure and followed by silicoating. All specimens were applied with 4-META resin and were thermocycled 1000 times at temperature of $5^{\circ}C$ to $55^{\circ}C$. The effects of various surface treatments on the bond strength between 4-META resin and metal interface were measured by using the universal testing machine. All specimens were observed with SEM. The results were as follows 1. The bond strength of 4-META resin were significantly higher to Co-Cr alloy. 2. The bond strength decreased in the following orders : group 6, group 3, groups 1 and 2, group 4, group 5 and there was no statistically significant difference in bond strength among groups 1 and 2.(p>0.05) 3. The bond strength of cobalt-chromium alloy to 4-META resin were not significantly different.(p>0.05) 4. The treated surface of groups 1, 2 and 3 has more fine undercut than that of groups 4 and 5 with SEM. 5. Stable adhesion can be achieved when mechanically roughened metal surface by sandblasting than treating in an electrochemical etching and an oxidizing solution with potassium manganate.
자석 유지장치를 이용한 Overdenture 수복에 관한 임상적 연구

The purpose of this study was to evaluate a cases which was treated with magnetic attachments on the patients in edentulous mandible and maxilla. Author made magnetic overdenture for two patients and then clinical examination were used for evaluation of the function and change in retention during 30months. Patients showed difficulty in oral hygiene care at the beginning but they go used to it soon. It was effective in promotion of denture retention and stability and also gave patient emotionally uplifting psychologic state. This study suggest that magnetic attachment was effective for the treatment of patients presenting a few remaining teeth or teeth under severe caries or mobility.
Konus telescope에 의한 유리단 결손 수복에 관한 임상적 연구(I)

The purpose of this study was to evaluate a cases which was treated with konus telescope on the patients in bilaterally edentulous mandible. Author made konus telescope for two patients and then X-ray and clinical examination were used for evaluation of the function and change in supporting structure of the abutment teeth during the 60months. Patient complained of difficulties in removal of denture at the beginning but they got used to it soon. X-ray showed that there were no changes in supporting structure of the abutment teeth after 60 months. It was effective in promotion of ridge soreness and also reducing the need of relining. This study suggest that konus telescope was effective for the treatment of bilaterally edentulous situations.
의치상 레진치아의 표면처리에 따른 수복레진과의 결합강도에 대하여

This study investigated the effects of surface treatment for filling resins on the surface texture of denture resin teeth by the use of scanning electron microscope. This study also evaluated the bond strength of filling resins to denture resin teeth. The denture resin teeth in this study was Endura Posterio(Shofu Co., Japan). The ailing resins used were Coe-cure(Coe Co., USA), Vertex RS (Dentimax Ziest, Holland), and light cured resin Z-100(3M Co., USA). The test sample were divided into 3 parts. Group 1 : Sandblasted with $50{\mu}m$ Aluminum oxide. Group 2 : Treated with #60 silicone carbide paper Group 3 : Treated with monomer brush application. Control Group : No Treatment. The results were as follows ; 1. The bond strength of filling resins to denture resin teeth is increased by surface treatment. 2. Regardless of the filling resins, there was a significant difference with # 60 silicone carbide paper treated group. 3. Regardless of each group, the bond strength according to the filling resins were decreased in the following order: Vertex RS, Coe-cure and Z-100.
