척수장애 운동선수의 장애정체성 형성과정에 관한 내러티브 탐구

이 연구는 중도 척수장애인이 장애 이후 스포츠 활동을 통한 장애정체성 형성 과정을 내러티브 형식으로 탐구하였다. 이 연구에서는 중도 척수장애인 운동선수가 장애 이전의 자신의 정체성, 장애 이후 재활의 과정, 그리고 스포츠를 접하는 과정과 운동선수로서의 경험을 내러티브 탐구 방법과 현장노트를 중심으로 `이야기 하기` , `다시 이야기하기`를 통해 장애정체성을 형성해가는 과정의 이해와 스포츠의 의미를 탐색하였다. 연 구 참여자는 중도 척수장애인으로 장애로 인한 병원 생활 경험, 스포츠 활동, 운동선수 경험이 있는 사람으로 선정하였다. 2명의 척수장애 운동선수를 연구 참여자로 선정, 총 6회의 내러티브를 통해 다음과 같은 연구 결과를 도출하였다. 먼저 장애 이전의 `나`로 다시 찾을 수 없는 비장애인의 삶을 구술했고, 비장애인 시기의 체육활동에 대한 구술을 했다. 이후 장애를 `단절`과 `상실`로 인식했으며, 장애 이후의 방황하던 삶을 이야기했다. 이들에 있어서 장애인체육은 장애 이후 단절되었던 삶에서 `또 다른 시작`이었다. 장애인체육활동을 통해서 삶에 대한 `동기부여`가 되었고, 자신에게 적합한 체육종목을 찾으며 변화된 신체의 기능에 적응해 갔다. 연구 참여자들은 체육활동을 통해서 `다시 찾은 나`로 `장애수용`을 하고 `자신감`을 찾으며, 장애 이후 장애인으로서의 `정체성`을 찾아가고 있다. 또한 장애 이후 체육활동을 통해서 새로운 인생의 목표 `행복`을 향해 열심히 살아가고 있다. This research applied a narrative method to investigate identity forming process through sport activities of people with severe spinal cord injury. In this research, understanding of identity forming process and meaning of sport for people with severe spinal cord injury with focusing in-depth interviews and field notes through story telling and story re-telling procedure were investigated. In the in-depth interviews and field notes, identity before the disability, rehabilitation procedure after the disability, adapting procedure of disability sport, and experiences as an athlete were managed. Two participants with spinal cord injury who had hospital dwelling, sport activities, and athletes experiences were selected. All together, six times of in-depth inquiries were applied. From those field notes, following results were inferred. At first, life without disability was discussed and sport activities before the disability also was stated. And after, perception of disability as `alienation` and `lose` was described. Further, wandering life after the disability was explained. For those participants, the adapted sport was another `start`. Persons with spinal cord injury have been motivated in life by the adapted sport, have grown forward by adapting the changed physical ability through finding a suitable event for own necessity. Participants have accepted disability as `re-found I` and have established self-confidence. Further, they have accomplished identity as a person with disability after the incident and have been moving forward to the new life goal through the adapted sport.

중도 척수장애인의 사회참여 과정에서 이동성의 경험에 대한 질적 사례연구

이 연구는 중도 척수장애인의 사회참여 과정에서 이동성 경험에 대한 이해와 의미를 탐구하는 데 목적이 있다. 이에 중도 척수장애인 중 경수 손상 장애인 3명, 흉수 손상 장애인 3명을 연구 참여자로 선정하여 심층 면접을 시행하였으며, 수집된 자료를 바탕으로 연구 주제에 따른 의미를 분석하였다. 주제 분석 결과 연구 참여자들 간의 이동성 경험을 ‘감옥 같은 이동 환경’과 ‘이동성의 변화와 새로운 삶’으로 크게 분류를 하였고, 이를 다시 ‘이동 환경의 어려움’, ‘목숨을 건 이동’, ‘전문적이지 않은 전문가’, ‘내가 장애인이 되는 순간’, ‘단절과 연결 그리고 새로운 삶’의 5개 범주로 도출하였다. 연구 참여자들에게 이동성은 사회참여와 삶의 질에서 상당한 영향을 주고 있으며, 장애 이후 이동성의 변화는 심리, 사회적으로 일상생활, 직업 생활, 여가생활, 인간관계 등에 깊은 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. The purpose of this study is to explore the understanding and significance of mobility experiences in social participation with severe spinal cord injury. Therefore three person with acquired cervical spinal cord impairment and three person with acquired thoracic impairment were selected as participants in the study, and in-depth interview was conducted. Based on the collected data, the significance of the study topics was analyzed. The topical analysis revealed that the mobility experience which is common among the study participants was largely classified in to ‘prison-like mobile environments’ and ‘mobility changes and new lives’, and organized again in to five categories; ‘the difficulty of the mobile environment , the movement is to the death , the unprofessional expert , the moment I became disabled , disconnection and connection and a new life . For the study participants, mobility has a significant impact on social participation and quality of life, and the changes in mobility after disability have a profound effect on mind, social daily life, profession, leisure life, and human relationships. In addition to the results of the study, a proposal was made for the most suitable ways to guarantee mobility rights for people with acquired spinal cord injury.
