Purpose: Using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), we studied the ultrastructures of rapidly proliferating preretinal membranes of young patients with very extensive ischemic proliferative diabetic retinopathy and diabetes with uncontrollable blood sugar level. Methods: Nine cases of preretinal membranes were obtained from six eyes of five patients with rapidly progressed proliferative diabetic retinopathy (mean age, 35 years) during vitrectomy. We obtained each preretinal membrane bimanually as one single sheet membrane using intraocular scissors and forceps. Each tissue was fixed in 3% glutaraldehyde in the operating room. All specimens were prepared and studied using TEM. Results: The preretinal membranes were composed of blood vessels and some interstitial cells. The blood vessels within the preretinal membranes varied in developmental stages, from the immature stage to the mature stage. The blood vessels were highly active, in that primitive cells showed a large nucleus and prominent chromatin clumping with abundant cytoplasm. Highly active fibroblast-like cells were also noted. Conclusions: We observed highly active angiogenesis in preretinal membranes, which rapidly proliferated in cases of severe retinal ischemia in young diabetes patients. 약용식물의 증류 추출물을 이용한 기능성 음료 개발에 관한 연구

The primary objective of this study was to determine the effects of a water-distilled extract with 15 kinds of Korean medicinal herb on antioxidant activity, antimicrobial activity against Helicobacter pylori, and lipid metabolism. The water-distilled extract (WE) and fermenting water-distilled extract (FE) of medicinal herbs were utilized in order to make functional beverages. The EDA (electron donating activity), SOD-like ability, and RAE (relative antioxidant efficacy) of WE averaged 24.47, 50.35, and 1.57%, respectively, but the EDA, SOD-like ability, and RAE of FE was retardeded by 12.01, 35.72, and 1.55%, respectively. The antimicrobial activity against Helicobacter pylori of WE averaged 12.84 mm as a diametric clear zone, and was significantly (p<0.05) higher than those measured in the WE and control. Serum triglyceride contents, total serum cholesterol contents, and serum LDL-cholesterol contents of the WE group were significantly (p<0.05) lower than those of the control group. The liver total-cholesterol contents and liver triglycerides of WE group were significantly (p<0.05) lower than those of the control group. The plasma TBARS value of the WE group was significantly (p<0.05) lower than that of the control group. The sensory evaluation, taste, and smell of FE were more desirable than those of WE, but the color of WE was more desirable. According to the above results, the water distilled extracts (WE) of 15 kinds of medicinal herb are supposed to be effective with regard to antioxidant activity and lipid metabolism, but the antimicrobial activity against Helicobacter pylori was increased as the result of fermentation.
모바일 기반 증강현실 기술을 활용한 3D전래동화 콘텐츠 연구

본 논문에서는 모바일 증강현실기술 기반을 활용한 3D전래동화 콘텐츠에 관한 연구이다. 지식기반사회의 핵심콘텐츠 산업으로 주목받고 있는 시공간을 연결하는 SW기술 증강현실(Augmented Reality) 기술을 활용하여 흥미로운 전래동화를 한국어, 중국어, 영어로 자막언어선택으로 외국어학습에 적용한다. 이를 위해 상호작용 AR게임(놀이)으로 재구성하였다. 전래동화는 3D 콘텐츠 제작을 위해 6~8개의 scene으로 분량을 구성하고, 각색하여 번역하였다. 더빙은 모국어로 사용하는 원어민 성우를 통해 표준발음을 사용하여 더빙하였고, 효과음은 장면에 어울리도록 별도 제작하여 편집하였다. 시나리오를 구성하고, 3D 모델구성, 인터렉션 구성, 사운드 이펙트를 구성하고 콘텐츠 메타데이터를 작성한 후, Unity 3D 게임엔진을 실행하여 프로젝트를 생성하고, 스크립터로 기술한다. 재미있고 유익한 전래동화를 ICT기술을 접목한 융복한 콘텐츠로 경험하면서, 첨단기술기반 교육을 수용하며, 생활주변에서 소프트웨어를 인식할 수 있는 기회를 가지게 한다. In this paper, we researched the excellency of 3D graphic nursery contents which is developed by mobile AR technology. AR technology has currently people's attention because of the potential to be core contents of future ICT industry. We applied AR nursery contents for kid's subtitle language selection in Korean, Chinese and English education. The original fairy tale consisted of 6~8 scenes for the 3D contents production, and was adapted and translated. Dubbing was dubbed by the native speaker using the standard pronunciation, and the effect sound was edited separately to fit the scene. After composing a scenario, constructing a 3D model, constructing a interaction, constructing a sound effect, and creating content metadata, the Unity 3D game engine is executed to create a project and describe it as a script. It provides a fun and informative tradition of fairy tales with abundant content that incorporates ICT technology, accepting advanced technology-based education, and having opportunities to perceive software in daily life.
Effect of Ginseng Ethanol Extract on Lactate Dehydrogenate-5 in Rat Brain with Age

Attempts were made to see if feeding of ginseng ethanol extract could affect proper- ties of rat brain lactate dehydrogenase such as specific activity, heat stability, Km for substrate, inactivation by 3-bromopyruvate and trypsin, and immune response. The following results were obtained. Specific activity of LDH was observed to reach maximum in 5 month after birth and then decrease steadily. However, that of LDH from rat fed with ginseng ethanol extract was found in rat fed with ginseng ethanol extract. 3-bromopyruvate was shown to inactivate LDH-5 from old rat fed. Inactivation of LDH-5 by trypsin was remarkable in old rat fed. Km value for pyruvate in old rat fed was remarkably decreased. Cumulative results suggest that ginseng ethanol extract could affect conformational change of LDH responsible for altered properties through unknown mechanism.
