Loss of postural balance can possibly lead to increased risk of slips and falls in work places. Present study was performed to investigate the effects of noisy environments on postural stability during standing. It is known that a sound is characterized by the frequency and pressure level of the sound. Therefore, effects of the frequency and pressure level on postural stability were of primary concern. Ten male subjects participated in the experiment. Subject's center of pressure(COP) position was collected on a force plate while they were exposed to different frequency and pressure levels of the sound. Measured COP was then converted into the length of postural sway path in both anterior-posterior(AP) and medio-lateral(ML) axis. Results showed that the length of sway path in AP axis was significantly affected by the frequency of sound. The length of sway path was lowest at frequency level of 2000Hz and increased below and above this frequency range. The sound pressure level, however, did not significantly affect the postural sway length in both AP and ML axis. The results imply that industrial workers in noisy environments should be aware that their abilities of postural balance can be disturbed significantly.

This study was aimed to understand the effects of perturbed floor surface on human postural stability while standing. Ten subjects were asked to stand quietly on the surface with two angles of inclination (0° and 5°), two contamination conditions(dry and oil-contaminated), and three commercial floor materials (ceramic tile, coated wood, and vinyl tile). During each trial, a force plate with data acquisition systems was used to collect subject’s center of pressure (COP) position. Measured COPs were then converted into the length of postural sway path in both subject's anterior-posterior (AP) and medio-lateral (ML) axis. Results showed that the length of sway path in ML axis was significantly affected by the angle of inclination and the type of floor material. The sway length was increased significantly at the inclination angle of 5° and on the vinyl tile, respectively. The contamination condition, however, did not significantly affect the postural sway length in both AP and ML axis. The results imply that a proper treatment of floor surface and material is critical to preserving postural balance while standing.

In this study, we examined the effects of background and underline on the readability of displayed text The background was placed on every other line and the underline was done with every line of the text The effect of adding color to the background and underline was also of primary concern Twenty subjects were tested on their reading efficiency (ie time-to-read and comprehension) and subjective preference of different text format presented on a LCD Result showed that for the background condition, the background with green format significantly decreased the time-to-read as compared to the format without any background The results of ANOVA on comprehension and subjective preference were also consistent with this finding For the underline condition, otherwise, the underline with yellow format yielded higher speed and better comprehension The results imply that adding background or underlines with appropriate colors can be an additional and useful way of improving text readability

인간은 몸을 지탱하는 지지 면이 좁은데 비하여 무게 중심은 지지 면에서 위로 올라가 있기 때문에 평행을 유지하는 데는 불리한 직립 자세를 취한다. 오염 된 바닥 지지 면에서의 마찰계수 변동추이로 작업자와 고령자들은 미끄러지기 쉬워 사고의 위험성을 내포하고 있다. 본 연구는 바닥면의 재질이 오염원(마찰력감소요인)에 따라 인간의 신체균형능력에 미치는 영향을 파악하고 정량화 하기 위해 수행하였다. 실험에 이용된 독립변수는 2 수준의 오염원(유, 무)과 3 수준의 바닥면 재질(ceramic tile, plywood, rubber vinyl tile)로 하였다. 또한 종속변수는 1 초당 60 회의 주기로 신체 압력중심(COP)의 위치좌표를 측정한 후, 이들 좌표를 이용하여 계산된 신체 좌우(Medio-Lateral: ML) 및 신체 전후(Anterior-Posterior: AP) 방향의 동요 길이로 하였다. 바닥 지지면의 상태 변화를 주기 위해 바닥면 재질은 정적상태의 마찰력이 작은 수준(ceramic tile:0.48, plywood:0.19, rubber vinyl tile:0.64)을 설정하고, 주요 특성마다 각도 및 마찰력 감소요인(자동차 엔진오일)을 사용하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 전도와 추락 위험이 상존하고 잇는 산업현장에서 안전하고 쾌적한 작업환경 수립에 도움이 될 수 있으며, 생활환경에 미치는 바닥면 재질 개선을 위한 설계지침에 활용이 가능할 것으로 판단된다.
암순응 환경에서 조도수준과 표적크기가 탐지시간에 미치는 영향

Effects of dark adaptation have large safety implications. This study was aimed to investigate the effects of varying illuminance and the size of critical detail on visual performance (i.e., time-to-detect) in a dark room environment. While adapting to the dark environment, ten subjects were asked to detect and answer simple numerical expressions under 9 experimental conditions (3 illuminance level × 3 target size). The ANOVA results revealed that the time-to-detect was significantly affected by both of the illumination level and the size of critical detail. As illumination increased from 10 lux to 20 lux, the time-to-detect was significantly declined. For the size of critical detail, 0.5/min size (i.e., equal to 2 minutes of visual angle) resulted in a shorter time-to-detect, as compared to 0.7/min size (i.e., equal to 1.6 minutes of visual angle). Potential applications of this research include the development of design guidelines for illumination and warning signs in poorly illuminated viewing environments.

Facilities used by senior citizens, infants, and disabled people have characteristics that make it difficult to escape on their own or require a lot of evacuation time. Therefore, to ensure safety in case of fire, clear measures for securing safety of facilities, fire response methods, and training are required in accordance with the regulations. In case of postnatal care center facilities, newborn babies and mothers reside 24 hours a day, and as they are located in high-rise and multi-use facilities, measures for fire safety are necessary, but the domestic manual lacks. Accordingly, a field survey for security of the manual revealed that the establishment of awareness and facilities on temporary waiting areas and smoke control, which are easy for evacuation and fire safety, was a problem.
양한방 협진을 통한 뇌전이 동반 말기 폐암환자 치험 1례

이번 증례에서 뇌전이가 동반된 IV기 비소세포성 폐암 환자에 대해 양한방 치료를 병행하여 VAS, FACT-L, FACIT-fatigue 등을 통하여 그 경과를 관찰한 바 방광자극증상 및 수면 등 삶의 질의 개선을 관찰할 수 있었다. 하지만 원활하지 못한 협진 체계로 인하여 환자 관리에 있어 문제점을 발견할 수 있었다. 향후 한방 치료를 통한 암환자 관리를 위해서는 접근성이 뛰어난 양한방 협진체계의 구축이 필수적인 것으로 사료된다. Objectives : This study reports one case of a patient diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer with brain metastasis. Methods : A 79 year-old male patient diagnosed with non-small cell lung cancer with brain metastasis was treated chemotherapy for 3 months and quitted it due to poor general condition. He transferred to Korean medicine hospital and was treated herbal medicine(Saengmaek-san plus Baekhapgogeum-tang gagam), acupuncture, moxibustion, interferential current therapy. To evaluate the patient, we measured of Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Lung (FACT-L), Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Fatigue (FACIT-Fatigue). Results : Patient's outcomes were improved during the 1st week regarding VAS (41${\rightarrow}$25), FACT-L (81.2${\rightarrow}$90), FACIT-fatigue (25${\rightarrow}$10). However, dyspnea and cough were was aggravated in the 2nd week. Conclusions : Treatment with Korean medicine therapy may have substantial benefit for patients with end-stage lung cancer. But, Integrated medicine therapy is necessary for proper management of end-stage cancer patients.

Objectives : Kamibojungikgi-tang is one of the most frequently used medical treatment for the allergic rhinitis. The main symptoms of the allergic rhinitis are nasal obstruction, watery rhinorrhea, and sneezing. In this study, we investigated the medical effect of the Kamibojungikgi -tang with intradermal acupuncture treatment on the allergic rhinitis in 10-11 years old children. Methods : For 8 weeks, we administered Kamibojungikgi-tang to 84 patients and treated them with intradermal acupuncture. We checked their serum IgE and examined 10 symptoms of the allergic rhinitis (nasal obstruction, watery rhiorrhea, sneezing, nasal pruritus, hyposmia, quality of life, color of nasal mucosa, edema of nasal mucosa, postnasal drip, and complication). Results : 1. Serum IgE decreased 2.62 point. which showed no significance. 2. Nasal obstruction, watery rhiorrhea, sneezing, nasal pruritus, hyposmia, quality of life, color of nasal mucosa, edema of nasal mucosa, and postnasal drip were improved. (p<0.005) 3. Complication showed no significance. Conclusions : After treatment, we had a lower symptom index scores. Kamibojungikgi-tang with intradermal acupuncture treatment had an effect on the allergic rhinitis.
