Recently, Indoor Air Quality(IAQ) has become significant environment problems as a result of the knowledge about comfort and health on human. Indoor Air pollutants are emitted from building components, smoke and odors. An odor is released from the cooking process in a kitchen with high emission rates of contaminants. Furthermore, It is not harmful to health compared to VOCs but the food can be easily recognized and make discomfort in a low concentration. The purpose of this research is developed evaluation method for odors and propose a prediction of discomfort. We used two kinds of method for odor scale, compare to odor intensity from panels and tracer gas concentration, to use odor analysis method. From the results, we were able to grasp the relation and the influence among the tracer gas and make two kinds of the arithmetic equations. Based on test results, existence and intensity of odor in places with different room volume and ventilation rate can be determined as for the production intensity of odor.

High-rise and high density in building has recently caused the problem of Urban Heat Island. For that reason, Bioclimatology is recently becoming more important as it is known that urban climate impacts human activity largely. The purpose of this study is to analyze the external environment considering in apartment space. The green tree and water space arrangement reduces the heat island effect, besides climate comfort zone. This study focused on measuring and analyzing outdoor air temperature, humidity, wind velocity in apartment complex according to the space features. Finally The temperature reduction effects were similar to green space and water space.

Appropriate ventilation is needed for healthy and comfortable indoor life of residents. The main purposes of a Heating, Ventilation and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) system are to help maintain good indoor air quality through adequate ventilation with filtration and provide thermal comfort. However, in some heat recovery ventilators, there is a problem that condensation occurs inside. Occurrence of condensation may cause propagation of bacteria, mold and consequently pollution, blurring the purpose of using a ventilator, and so the problem of condensation should be handled seriously. But the current condensation-related regulations have the limits in the scope of judgement. In this study, multiple dampers were installed to prevent dew condensation in the ventilation system. The condensation performance of the ventilation system was verified through the implementation of the outside temperature during the winter season.

Recently, there has been industrialization and urbanization through decades, including the Seoul Metropolis, and cities have had more and more buildings and population. This increasing causes lots of environmental problems such as heat island phenomenon, which is one of important theme that has to be solved these days. In Korea, there are not enough studies to analyze and indicate plans to deal with heat island, compared with other developed countries. Therefore, recognition and understanding of heat island should be spread more, and also, present condition of environment should be analyzed quantitatively so that various countermove can be get ready. This study can be the basis of that kind of analysis by analyzing of heat island causes in statistical way, focused on Seoul. For the dependent variable, average minimum temperature of winter season is analyzed by population, structures, and energy consumption, so the relationship between causes and results of heat island can be showed as an numerical formula. The result shows that the amount of electric power sold affects most, and the amount of LNG sold affects least. Through this study, the actual condition of heat island of Seoul can be confirmed again; moreover, it can be the foundation for preparation of counterplan of heat island by making a close examination of causes and elements of heat island.

To develope concrete panels suitable for the snow melting system based on renewable energy or unused temperature difference energy, highly thermal conductive concrete panels using silica stones were made. Through the comparative small-scale experiment between the general concrete panel and the highly thermal conductive concrete panel using the low temperature heat source device simulating the unused temperature difference energy, we verified the possibility of the highly thermal conductive concrete panel to maximize efficiency of snow melting system using low temperature heat source.
