Internal capacity of a refrigerator is an important indicator for design and purchasing criteria. The components facing the internal space may have holes or gaps between parts. In traditional way, design engineers manually remodeled the parts to fill the holes and the gaps for enclosed boundary of the internal space. Then they calculated internal volume by subtracting the assembly of parts from its enclosing volume. However, filling holes and gaps is not an automated process requiring a plenty of labor and time. In this research, we have developed a voxel-based method to estimate the internal volume of a refrigerator automatically. It starts transforming all components facing the interior space into voxels and fills all holes and gaps automatically by the developed hole-filling algorithm to form a completely closed boundary of the assembly. Then, it identifies the boundary voxels that are facing to the internal voxels with any part of the component. After getting the intersection points between the boundary voxels and the surfaces of components, it generates the boundary surface of triangular facets with the intersection points. Finally, it estimates the internal volume by adding volume of each tetrahedron composed of a triangle of boundary surface and an arbitrary point.

Refrigerator has been used across the various fields in society as a device for keeping cold foods or medications. As the refrigeration technology advances, important issue such as enlargement has been arised. It is therefore important that the design having a maximum internal space volume in a limited space are very important. The internal space of refrigerator is consisted of a component such as a door and the inner case. The volume calculation of that is performed by a Boolean operation function of the 3D CAD software. However, many pre-processing operations by the user, such as hole filling and construction closed space by filling in the gaps between parts take a lot of time. In this research, we developed a decomposition modelbased automatic volume calculation program of refrigerator internal space satisfying the interior volume measurement standard. Though we have developed the program by applying to refrigerator assembly, application of the program can be extended to the assembly made up of many parts.

Automotive parts that require rigidity, such as door-modules, FEM carriers and bumpers has been applied with conventional metal materials, but they have been replaced with fiber-reinforced composites to reduce weight. Currently, automotive parts are being developed and applied with low weight parts through thickness thinnering as a weight light trend to improve fuel economy. However, as the thickness decreases, the stiffness decreased, so an analysis technique of materials is required to supplement the stiffness. In this study, the actual deformation that occurs when a load is applied to a specimen injection-molded of PP-GF20 material is measured, and the simulation results are compared with the consistency. In order to increase this consistency, it was possible to increase the consistency from about 60% to more than 80% by adjusting the elasticity of the material input in the structural analysis, and it was found that the elasticity of the material should be applied differently to analysis depending on the thickness of the molded product.

The door Module is a structural steel part that is mounted inside a car door and assembled with a window guide rail, door latch and speaker. Steel have been used in the past, but they are being replaced by glass fiber reinforced plastics(GFRP). Due to the demand for lightweight, low density materials gave been developed through thinning thickness of panels and reducing of glass fibers. However, if the thickness is thinner and the fiber content is reduced, the stiffness of the panel is lowered. Therefore, the design and simulation technique for compensating the rigidity of the panel is required. In this study, the actual deformation amount of a door module panel injection molded with PP-GF20 material was measured and the simulation results and the accuracy were compared. By adjusting the flexural modulus of the PP-GF20 material, the accuracy could be increased from about 50% to 85%. It was found that the flexural modulus of the material should be measured in accordance with the molding design characteristics of the actual door panel.

The characteristics of the patients after the calcaneal fracture that were associated with an unsatisfactory outcome were subtalar incongruity, decreased Bohler angle ratio of the fractured to the normal side, an age of more than fifty years, work involving strenuous labor, and increased time missed from work due to the injury. The purpose of this study was to examine the reliability of measurements of the range of motion of the subtalar joint. To determine reliability, evaluates of the correlatioinship between the degree of the displacement of the subtalar joint and Circle draw test after the calcaneal fracture. Fifty patients who had had fifty five calcaneal fractures were managed with open reduction and internal fixation. The results were reviewed retrospectively, between 4months and three years after the operation, with use of an evaluation system for the subtalar joint and with plain radiographs. At follow up evaluation, the result was assessed on the basis of restoration of anatomy and function of the subtalar joint. We evaluated the subtalar joint with plain films that consist of anteroposterior projection, lateral projection, calcaneal axial view, and Broden's view, and the measurements of the displacement of the subtalar joint surface after the calcaneal fracture. And we evaluated the range of motion of the subtalar joint with Circle draw test for physical evaluation. Circle draw test was evaluated and demonstrated the motion of flexion-supination-adduction and extension-pronation-abduction of the subtalar joint. And there are correlationship between the degree of the displacement and range of motion of the subtalar joint after the calcaneal fracture. The report critically reviews methords used to measure Circle draw test for physical examination of the follow up after the calcaneal fracture.

Floating plant system can remove phosphorus (P) from water via plant absorption of P. As fly ash (FA) is a good phosphorus (P) adsorbent, using FA as a medium for the floating plant system may enhance P removal. In this study, the effect of FA mixture on P removal was investigated through an experiment using box planted with rice (Oryza sativa L.). Sand mixed with 0 (code FA0), 25 (FA<sub>25</sub>), and 50% (FA<sub>50</sub>) of FA (w/w) was placed into the box (21 cm × 16 cm × 8 cm) and the box was floated on container (8 L) filled with P-contaminated water (3 mg P L<sup>-1</sup> as KH<sub>2</sub>PO<sub>4</sub>). Totally 24 mg of P was added into the container. On 7 days after treatment, chlorophyl-a concentration was 0.20 mg L<sup>-1</sup> for FA<sub>0</sub>, 0.05 mg L<sup>-1</sup> for FA<sub>25</sub>, and 0.04 mg L<sup>-1</sup> for FA<sub>50</sub>, indicating suppression of algae growth. On the same day, concentration of total P was 3.3, 2.7, and 2.3 mg P L<sup>-1</sup> for FA<sub>0</sub>, FA<sub>25</sub>, and FA<sub>50</sub>, respectively, suggesting that the suppression of algae growth by FA application is linked with decrease in P concentration. At the end of experiment (20 days after treatment), removal efficiency of P for FA<sub>0</sub> was as high as 84.8% and this was ascribed to rice uptake and P adsorption by sand. In FA treatment, the removal efficiency increased to 95.8% for FA<sub>25</sub> and 95.7% for FA<sub>50</sub>. Therefore, it was suggested that FA can be used as a plant growth medium in floating plant system for enhanced removal of water P.
