This study investigated the relationships among marital conflict, child-rearing stress, and affection-rejection parenting for mothers of preschoolers. The subjects were 208 mothers who lived with at least one preschooler in Daegu or Gyeongbuk Province. The collected data were analyzed by Pearson's correlation, and single and multiple regression, using SPSS Win 15.0. The results were as follows. (1) Mothers' marital conflict was negatively associated with affection parenting. However, the negative influence of mothers' marital conflict on affection parenting was mediated by child-rearing stress. (2) Mothers' marital conflict was positively associated with rejection parenting. However, the positive influence of mothers' marital conflict on rejection parenting was partially mediated by child-rearing stress.

The subjects of this study on the relationships of locus of control, loneliness, and coping in the peer-alienation situation were 464 sixth grade children attending 4 elementary schools in Seoul. Analysis was by t-test, ANOVA, and Multiple Regression. Loneliness was higher in girls than in boys and in children with external locus of control. Passive coping in the peer-alienation situation was associated with higher levels of loneliness. Aggressive coping behavior in the peer-alienation situation was associated with higher levels of loneliness in boys. While both locus of control and passive coping behavior in the peer-alienation situation were predictive of loneliness in school age children, passive coping behavior was a stronger predictor of loneliness than locus of control.

The purpose of this study was to identify the relation between juvenile deliquency and parent-adolescent communication, the family cohesion and adaptability as variables of psychological environment of the family. The subjects were 143 juvenile deliquents in jail, aged 16 to 19, and 347 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th grade students who resided in low income areas in Seoul and Taegu. The research data were collected by structured questionnaire. 143 juvenile delinquents and 87 students whose degree of deliquency was more than M+(0.5*S.D) were selected as the final data source. The statistical methods were frequency percentile, pearson`s correlation, one-way ANOVA. Scheffe`test and multiple regression analysis. The major findings showed that (1) juvenile deliquency was significantly related to father-closed communication type. (2) juvenile deliquency was significantly related to low family cohesion and adaptability. (3) the family cohesion and adaptability was positively correlated with parent-adolescent communication. Father-adolescent communication had more important effect upon the family cohesion and adaptability than mother-adolescent communication.
