홍삼이 운동으로 유발된 쥐의 배측 봉선핵에서의 세로토닌 합성과 트립토판 수산화효소 발현에 미치는 영향

목 적 : 홍삼액은 전통적으로 지구력을 요하는 운동에서 근력을 상승시키는 보조제로 사용되어 왔다. 본 연구는 트레드밀에서 달리기를 한 쥐들의 배측 봉선핵을 절개하여 중추성 피로를 유발하는 세로토닌과 그 합성 효소인 트립토판 수산화효소(TPH)의 발현의 억제에 홍삼이 미치는 영향을 측정하고자 시행되었다. 방 법 : 40마리의 쥐들을 대조군, 운동그룹, 운동 및 10mg/kg 홍삼 그룹, 운동 및 50mg/kg 홍삼 그룹의 4개 그룹으로 나누었다. 대조군을 제외한 쥐들에게 강제로 연속 4일간 하루 30분씩 트레드밀에서 달리기를 시키고 5일째에는 탈진할 때까지 달리게 한 후 그 시간을 측정한 직후 희생시켰다. 배측 봉선핵의 조직 단면은 조직면역화학법으로 처리한 후 현미경으로 세로토닌과 TPH에 반응하는 세포의 개수를 세고 통계처리하였다. 결 론 : 홍삼을 복용한 쥐들은 트레드밀 달리기에서의 탈진에 이르는 시간이 길어졌으며 홍삼은 운동으로 유발된 배측 봉선핵의 세로토닌 합 성과 TPH의 발현을 억제하는 효과가 있었다. 억제효과는 10mg/kg 투여군 보다 50mg/kg 투여군에서 현저하였다. 홍삼의 운동 중 배 측 봉선핵에서의 5-HT 합성과 TPH 발현억제는 홍삼의 강장효과와 운동 수행 능력 향상 효과를 입증할 수 있는 기전이 될 수 있다.
알코올 의존 환자의 병식과 알코올 의존 선별 검사 위음성과의 연관성에 관한 연구

Objectives:We investigated the association of insight level with false-negative alcoholism screening tests in alcoholdependent patients. Methods:The subjects were 89 patients (male 81, female 8) who met DSM-IV criteria for alcohol dependence and were admitted to a psychiatric hospital in Korea. All subjects participated in a 3-month inpatient program of 10-30 hours duration per week, consisting of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), group therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and other sessions for alcohol dependence. All subjects completed the National Alcoholism Screening Test (NAST) and the Hanil Alcohol Insight Scale (HAIS) twice, just after admission and just before discharge. The results of the NAST were compared among three groups divided by insight level (poor, partial, and good). Results:1) The subject was 43.7±10.9 (mean± S.D.) years old. Among the subjects, 58.4% were married, 40.4% did not have any religion, and 38.4% were unemployed. Seventytwo percent of the subjects received a higher education. The age at the first drinking was 21.3±6.5(mean±S.D.) years, and the amount of alcohol drinking was 2.3±1.0 (mean±S.D.) bottles of soju daily. The number of admission was 1.9±1.9 (mean± S.D.). 2) Among ‘poor insight’ group, false-negative rate on NAST was 39.4% before treatment, and 33.3% after treatment. False-negative rate on NAST was significantly higher in the ‘poor insight’ group than ‘partial’ or ‘good’ insight group before (p= 0.001) and after (p<0.001) treatment. Conclusion:These results suggest that alcohol-dependent patients with poor insight may report false-negative results on an alcoholism screening test like NAST. Therefore, during these the screening test, thorough evaluation on the subject s level of insight is required.

Red ginseng has been used as an ergogenic aid for endurance exorcise. In this study, the effect of aqueous extract of Red ginseng on the endurance in treadmill exorcise and 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin) synthesis and tryptophan hydroxylase expression in the dorsal raphe of rats were studied. Rats receiving Red ginseng showed increased time to exhaustion for treadmill running. and Red ginseng treatment inhibited exorcise-induced increases in 5-hydroxytryptamine synthesis and tryptophan hydroxylase expression in the dorsal raphe. These results suggest that the suppressive effect of Red ginseng on serotonin level during exercise is a possible ergogenic mechanism of Red ginseng.
