Quantitative Determination of Kurarinone and Trifolirhizinfrom the Roots of Sophora flavescens
민병선,Min-Jung Chang,나민균,최재수 한국생약학회 2007 Natural Product Sciences Vol.13 No.3
simple reversed phase HPLC method was developed for extracting pharmacologically activecompounds kurarinone and trifolirhizin from the roots of Sophora flavescens using a binary gradient ofacetonitrile : H2O with UV detection at 254 nm. The kurarinone and trifolirhizin contents of the roots of S. flavescenscollected from ten district markets in Korea and China were 77.24~686.89g/g and 46.89~288.58/g, respectively. Keywords Sophora flavescens, HPLC, kurarinone, trifolirhizin
Coumarins and a Polyacetylene from the Roots of Angelica purpuraefolia
민병선 한국생약학회 2006 Natural Product Sciences Vol.12 No.3
coumarins (1-4) and one polyacetylene (5) were isolated from the roots of Angelicapuraefolia Chung (Umbelliferae) through repeated column chromatography. Four coumarins, isoscopoletin (1),oxypeucedanin hydrate (2), arnottinin (3) and isokhellactone (4), and a polyacetylene, (+)-9(Z),17-octadecadiene-12,14-diyne-1,11,16-triol (5), were identified by spectroscopic analysis including two dimensional NMR andmas. These compounds were examined for their anti-complement activity against the classical pathway of thecomplement system. However, compounds 1-5 were inactive in this assay system. KeywordsAngelica purpuraefolia, Umbelliferae, coumarin, polyacetylene, anti-complement activity
Protective Effect of Stilbenes on Oxidative Damage
민병선,배기환,나민균 한국생약학회 2007 Natural Product Sciences Vol.13 No.4
stress induced by reactive oxygen species (ROS) has been suggested to be the cause ofvarious degenerative diseases as well as aging. To evaluate the antioxidant potential of stilbenes, we havebutyl hydroperoxide (t-BuOOH). Of the stilbenes tested, piceatannol (3) showed the most potent activity, whichwas further investigated using an animal model. When 3 (30 or 10 mg/kg) was topically administered prior toUVB irradiation, the amount of the thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS) was significantly reducedcompared to that of the control (vehicle). Our findings suggest that piceatannol is capable of protecting cells andtissues from oxidative stress.Keywordsoxidative stress, stilbenes, tertiary butyl hydroperoxide, UVB irradiation, piceatannol, TBARS
Compounds from the Aerial Part of Saururus chinensis and Their Cytotoxic Activity
민병선,Tran Thi Thu Trang 한국생약학회 2012 Natural Product Sciences Vol.18 No.4
Ten known compounds, 7-hydroxysauchinone (1), sauchinone (2), di-O-methyltetrahydrofuriguaiacin B (3), henricine (4), saucerneol K (5), meso-dihydroguaiaretic acid (6), (-)-guaiacin (7), (3R,4S)-4-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-4-methoxy-3-methylbutan-2-one (8), (E)-7-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-7-methylbut-8-en-9-one (9), and licarin A (10), were isolated from aerial part of Sarurus chinensis. The chemical structures of these compounds were determined on the basis of spectroscopic analyses including 2D NMR. Compounds 1 - 10 were evaluated for their cytotoxic activity against the HL-60, MCF-7, and A549 cancer cell lines in in vitro.
