Recently, emission regulations has been going to be strict and Euro 6 which is going in to effect in 2014 has the regulation for number of particulate matter as well as mass, according to increasing of concern for harmful of nano size particle. In this study, the size distribution and the number of Particle Matter emission for Low Pressure EGR system, one of the technologies developed to meet future strict regulations, is systemically evaluated. Particle Matter emission was compared between High Pressure EGR system and Low Pressure EGR system for equivalent NOx emission level and equivalent AF level standards. As a result, both the number and mass of Particle Matter emission of Low Pressure EGR was reduced compare to conventional High Pressure EGR. The size distribution is similar and Particle Matter emission which are in the size of 65~75 ㎚ were mostly formed. Particles Matter emissions of Low Pressure EGR under 20 ㎚ size were slightly increased so that reduction rate of number is smaller than mass compare to those of High Pressure-EGR.
