The purpose of this study was to develop safety competences, a set of behavioral indicators of each competence and measuringmethods of behavioral indicators for preventing human error of nuclear power plants(NPPs). The safety competences and behavioral indicators were derived from the five steps consisted of derivation of preliminary competence items through literature review, content analysis, interview(FGI, BEI), examination of content validity and decision making of final indicators. The results showed that 13 core safety competences and 35 behavior indicators were derived finally. In addition, the methods of measuring safety competences or behavioral indicators such as Behaviorally Anchored Rating Scale (BARS), Behavior Observation Scale (BOS) were developed and suggested.

The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between the index of Electrocardiography(LF/HF) and the occurrence of drowsiness driving while driving in a simulated situation. Participants were 31 undergraduate students with an experience in driving and they participated 30 minutes driving under enough sleep condition and 1 hour under the sleep deprivation condition. The Euro Truck Simulator Ⅱ was used for driving simulation task and ECG and perceived drowsiness of each participants were measured during two driving conditions. Perceived sleepiness recorded by the checklist every 10 minutes and ECG data extracted before and after 15 seconds of every 10 minutes to verify the relationship between two variables. The results showed that the level of perceived sleepiness under sleep deprivation condition was higher than that under the enough sleep condition, and the level of LF/HF under sleep deprivation condition was lower than that under the enough sleep condition. In addition, the result of analysis of repeated measure ANOVA for ECG indicated that authentic sleepiness revealed in 20 minutes after the start of driving under the sleep deprivation condition. However, the result of perceived drowsiness indicated that authentic sleepiness revealed in 30 minutes after the start of driving. These result suggest that the time difference between biological and perceived response on drowsiness may be exist. Finally, the significant negative correlation between the LF/HF level and perceived drowsiness was observed. These findings suggest that ECG(LF/HF) can be an possible index to measure drowsiness driving.

This study examined the influence of safety leadership of manager and safety climate of the organization on the workers` safety behavior. Especially, this study examined a mediating effect of safety climate on the relationship between safety leadership and safety behaviors. 219 workers were asked to respond to the questionnaires that measured various demographic variables, safety climate, safety leadership and safety behaviors. A hierarchical regression was conducted to identify variables that had significant relationships with safety behaviors and to examine the mediating effect of safety climate. Results indicated that the safety leadership significantly predicted both safety compliance and participation behavior. It was found that the safety climate was also a significant predictor for both safety compliance and participation behavior. In addition, safety climate had a mediating effect on the relationship between safety leadership and safety compliance and participation behavior. Based on these results, the implications of this study and suggestions for future research were discussed.

This study examined the effects of employers’ breach of safety obligation and violation of psychological contract on the workers’ safety behaviors and turnover intention. Especially, this study examined a mediating effect of violation of psychological contract on the relationship between employer’s breach of safety obligation and workers’ safety behavior and turnover. 198 workers were asked to respond to the questionnaires that measured various demographic variables, employers’ breach of safety obligation, violation of psychological contract, safety behavior, turnover intention. A hierarchical regression was conducted to identify variables that had significant relationships between employers’ breach of safety obligation and employees’ safety behavior and turnover intention, and to examine the mediating effect of violation of psychological contract. Results indicated that the employers’ breach of safety obligation significantly predicted both workers’ safety behaviors and turnover intention. It was also found that the violation of psychological contract was a significant predictor for both workers’ safety behavior and turnover intention. In addition, violation of psychological contract was found as mediating effect on the relationship between employers’ breach of safety obligation and workers’ safety behavior and turnover intention. Based on these results, the implications of this study and suggestions for future research were discussed.
소규모 제재업 사업장에서 안전통로가 안전관련 변인 지각에 미치는 효과: 탐색적 연구

This study examined the effects of safety-aisle on the safety climate, safety leadership, safety behavior, work loading and perceived accident risk in the small sawmilling industry. We distributed a questionnaire that measured various demographic variables, safety related variables by mail to 200 sawmilling companies. Finally 59 managers’ and 129 workers’ questionnaires were used for data analysis. An independent t-test was conducted to identify significant mean differences of safety related variables between safety-aisle installed and non-installed companies. Results indicated that mean differences of safety climate and safety behavior between safety-aisle installed and non-installed companies were significant. However, mean differences of safety leadership, work loading and perceived risk were not significant at the p < .05 level. Based on these results, the implications of this study and suggestions for future research were discussed.
불면증 환자에 대한 침치료 전후 정량화 뇌파 분석: Z Scored Absolute Power and sLORETA

Objectives: To investigate the neurophysiological effect of acupuncture treatment on insomnia patients using quantitative electroencephalography (QEEG) and standardized Low Resolution Brain Electromagnetic Tomography method (sLORETA). Background: Insomnia is one of the commonly encountered symptoms in primary medical care. Recent studies of acupuncture for insomnia reported that the acupuncture groups showed significant improvements compared with the control groups. However, the neurophysiological mechanism of acupuncture in the treatment of insomnia has not been revealed and a few studies have measured the effect of acupuncture treatment using QEEG. Methods: Participants who had some problems in initiating or maintaining sleep, or had non-restorative sleep for more than 3 days a week and ISI scores above 8 and below 21 were treated by acupuncture for 2 weeks (3 times a week, total 6 times). We assessed the effectiveness of acupuncture for insomnia by the PSQI (Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index) at baseline and at 2 weeks after the end of treatment (4th week). Also, we performed EEG and analysed the EEG data at baseline and at the end of treatment (2nd week) on the linked ears montage using the Neuroguide software program and sLORETA. Results: Thirty-two participants were enrolled and 2 participants dropped out because of personal reasons. Among the 30 participants, EEGs of 12 participants were included in the analysis of QEEG and sLORETA. Total score on the ISI and PSQI was significantly decreased after acupuncture treatment. The number of electrodes exceeding the range of 90% (±1.65) or 95% (±1.96) in the z scored absolute power of beta was significantly decreased after acupuncture treatment. There was no significant change in brain activation between pre- and post-acupuncture using sLORETA. Conclusions: The deviation of absolute power compared to the normative database was significantly decreased after acupuncture treatment in the alpha and beta ranges. Therefore, we suggest that acupuncture treatment for insomnia might be effective through the central nervous system especially in the brain. There are many limitations to drawing any conclusion. Further studies are needed in the future to overcome these limitations.

This study implemented self-management technique to improve supervisory behaviors at a construction site. Self-management in the current study consisted of goal setting, self-monitoring and providing reward for two supervisory behaviors; (1) conducting safety observations of workers safety behavior and (2) providing safe related feedback. Two supervisors severed as participants. An AB within-group design was adopted. After baseline (A), self-management technique was implemented(B). Results suggested that self-management was effective in increasing the two supervisory behaviors. Moreover, the increased supervisory behaviors were associated with improvement in workers` safety performance.

This study examined the relative effects of feedback frequency and specificity of Eco-IVIS(eco in-vehicle information system) on the fuel-efficiency and workload. Eighty participants randomly assigned into four experimental groups (high frequency/specific, high frequency/global, low frequency/specific, and low frequency/global feedback) and they drove 16.4Km motorway under the each feedback condition. The dependent variable were fuel efficiency and Drive Activity Load Index which measured participants’ subjective ratings of driving workload. The results showed that high frequent feedback was more effective for increasing fuel-efficiency than low frequent feedback, however, there was no significant difference of fuel-efficiency between specific and global feedback. Although, overall DALI score was comparable among four experimental conditions, visual demand score was significant higher under the high frequent feedback condition than low frequent feedback.
