This study is conducted to improve the efficiency of a thermal storage tank. The thermal storage tank was designed to store heat energy that obtained from the solar or the others heat sources. However, it has difficulties in storing heat with nonuniform temperature through the entire tank with respect to the vertical direction. This study is focused on the thermal stratification to improve thermal comfort for the resident in house. To enhance temperature stratification of the tank, a distributor was designed and installed in the middle of the storage tank vertically. The vertically designed distributor could supply the return water with stratified temperature in the storage tank with respect to the height. The water velocity from the distributor hole is the same with the other outlet in the distributor. However, gravity effect on the flow in the storage tank is much higher than that of the velocity effect due to that Froude Number is less than 1. During the heat charging process in the storage tank, temperature maintained with little difference with respect to the height. However the charging process takes long time to get a effective temperature for the heating or hot water supply because of all of water in the storage tank needs to be heated.

Most of the countries are concerned about developing 'green home' that is environment friendly house and it does not uses fossil fuel. "Zero Emission City" project is developed at the developing country as well. The studies, renewable energy such as solar heat, photovoltaic energy, fuel cell and wind power, are perform by government. One of them, solar heat belongs to commercially successful case as alternative energy. However, there are a few studies on quantification of energy savings effective yet. Therefore, this study intends to discuss quantification of energy savings effective through demonstration study.

This study describes experimental study on the performance characteristics with load condition in hybrid solar heating system during spring season. The room temperatures, the hot water conditions and the lower part temperatures of heat storage tank were changed to analyze the system performances. As a results, the hot water was significantly affected by the ambient temperature. The indoor setting temperature affected the solar fraction. When the low part temperature of the storage tank increased, the temperature of the hot water rose and the temperature of the hot water in morning was affected by the ambient temperature.

In this study, the performance of solar assisted hybrid heat pump system with cloud cover were analyzed by using experimental method in spring season. It was consisted of concentric evacuated tube solar collector, heat medium tank, heat storage tank, heat pump, and so on. As a result, the solar radiation should be maintained over 4.1 MJ/㎡ in order to operate solar heating system for heating. Solar heat of collector wasn't affected by ambient temperature, but cloud cover has a big effect to collector efficiency. In addition, the collector efficiency is about 50-60%, and solar fraction is 40% for this system.
