Visceral fat area (VFA) in middle-aged women increased during menopause, and elderly women were reported to have increased visceral adipose tissue compared to pre-menopausal women. The method to measure VFA with high validity can be quantified by image scan. The purpose of this study was to develop an estimation equation for estimating VFA using anthropometric variables in postmenopausal women. The subjects were 78 middle-aged and elderly women aged 46~75 years (59.7±6.3 years) living in K and S cities. Subjects underwent body composition and computed tomography (CT). Correlation coefficient (r ) was calculated by Pearson’s product correlation. A regression analysis was performed to develop an estimate for VFA prediction. Analysis of correlations between VFA and anthropometric variables revealed fat mass (r=.667), chest and waist circumference (r=.664), BMI (r=.640), and body weight (r=.605), Body fat percentage (r=.584), waist-to-hip ratio (WHR) (r=.563), hip circumference (r=.476), fat free mass (r=.410), and age (r=.304). appear. As a result of regression analysis to develop the estimation formula for VFA prediction, the estimation formula including body fat mass and WHR showed 51.6% of explanatory power with VFA=4.365 (fat mass)+163.232 (WHR)-162.830. From the above results, it is considered that the estimation formula proposed in this study can be an important tool for screening risk factors, considering the independent risk factors for cardiovascular system.

The purpose of this study was to provide data needed for comparison by position, scientific training, and exercise prescription by position in evaluation of shoulder joint, knee joint, and waist joint of professional baseball players. First, in body composition, there was difference in body mass index(BMI) and muscle mass among fielders(p<.05). Second, there was difference in peak torque and peak torque % body weight of external rotators at 90˚/sec shoulder joint among fielders(p<.05). There was difference in peak torque of external rotators at 300˚/sec shoulder joint among fielders(p<.05). Third, there was difference in torque % body weight of flexors and extensors at left knee joint among fielders(p<.05). In addition, there was difference in peak torque and peak torque % body weight of extensors at 60˚/sec right knee joint among pitchers(p<.05). We came to the conclusion that fielder showed higher than pitcher at external rotators of shoulder joint. the pitchers are need to set a pitch form for set up systematic a data of shoulder joint and improve the quantity of pitcher muscles and continuous icing operation after an pitching would an positive effect on improve the return of exhaustion of shoulder joint. It is necessary to changing recognition about number of pitches of field coach than number of pitches restriction and inning of pitches restriction.
중년비만여성에 대한 건강체력수준의 개선에 필요한 운동량

To estimate how much physical activity is needed to improve overall health status in obese middle-aged women, the dose-response relationship between the duration of daily exercise training and change in health age (HA) was assessed for 24 weeks of exercise training. Fifteen obese women, aged 46.0±6.4 years, who had not exercised regularly, were volunteered to participate in the present study as subjects. They completed a 24-week exercise training consisting of aerobic exercise performed three times/week, for 60 min/session at lactate threshold level. For the period, they had a low-calorie diet, i.e., 1,500 ㎉/day. Daily duration of aerobic type exercise calculated for each subject averaged 20.8±9.7 min/d After the 24 weeks exercise training, HA decreased from 51.8±4.4yrs to 46.5±4.1yrs (P<0.05). Significant correlation was found between daily duration of exercise and the change in HA (r=0.69). It was suggested that the amount of moderate intensity exercise required to improve physical health status in obese middle-aged women may be 10-30 minutes per day.
체육(스포츠)과학 연구 수행을 위한 무작위 통제군연구(RCT)의 인식전환

This study describes the discussion on the new recognition change of randomized controlled trials (RCT) for performing physical education (sports) science research. Since the emphasis was placed on the need for RCT in 2010 as the Consolidated Standards of Reporting Trials (CONSORT), all exercise intervention studies should include control groups and group assignments are randomly performed. In addition to general research design, RCT include interventional approaches and reliable and effective measurement of results, number of subjects, and statistical approaches for data analysis. Thus, most researchers are setting up control groups and that is justified. However, in the case of patients such as elderly or obese, diabetes, etc. who need to maintain and promote health, it is not justifiable to set up a control group that does nothing. Researchers dealing with human health should rethink their research design in light of these problems. Rather than setting up a control group that does nothing, we need to be mindful of health and non-health care people who require health promotion. In addition, the independent research methods of physical education (sports) science should be reviewed to the extent that they do not violate research ethics, instead of imitating RCT methods in various other areas such as medicine, nutrition, psychology and physiology. In the future, I would like to share the paradigm of the arbitration research with the new method.
Effects of swimming program on physiological variables of Obese Women

본 연구는 K여자대학 평생교육원에 참가한 50명의 중년여성중 비만자로 판정된 11명을 대상으로 3개월간의 수영프로그램이 비만여성의 생리학적 변인에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위한 것이었다. 모든 피검자들은 일주일에 5회씩 3개월간 수영을 수행하였다. 1회 운동시간은 50분으로 하였으며, 각 영법을 35분, 기술훈련(손동작, 평영발차기)을 15분간 실시하였다. 첫 4주간은 발차기(보드잡고, 자유형, 배영)를 하였고, 5주째부터 운동프로그램이 종료될 때까지 자유형, 배영, 평영 및 각 영법의 발차기를 병행하였다. 수영프로그램중 모든 피검자는 하루에 1,000m씩 수영을 하였다. 식사에 의한 영향을 배제하기 위하여 주 1회 전문지도자에 의해 식사지도를 하였으며, 식사기록에 의해 평상시 섭취량을 유지하도록 최대한 지도하였다. 3개월간의 수영프로그램에 참가한 비만 여성들은 체중과 체지방율 등의 인체측정학적 변인들이 유의하게 감소되었고, 최대산소섭취량은 유의한 증가를 보였다. 혈압은 큰 변화가 없었으나, 혈중 지질성분은 긍정적인 경향을 보여 3개월이라는 비교적 단기간에서도 비만여성의 수영프로그램 참가가 효과적이라는 것이 확인되었다.
