In this paper, we have theoretically analyzed and designed a dielectric multi-layer sensor with a SPR (surface plasmon resonance) using analytical calculation and FDTD (finite difference time-domain) methods. The proposed structure is composed of periodic layer and thin metal film. It has many advantages. One of that is a high sensitivity of the SPR. Another is a high Q-factor of the characteristics in the PhC (photonic crystals) micro-cavity structure. The incident light has double resonance characteristics, because the filtered light by PhC structure, dielectric multi-layer, is met the thin metal film for SPR effect. We have also observed the change of resonance characteristics according to the variation of effective index on the metal film.
$SiO_2$위에 증착된 $Si_{1-X}Ge_X$합금의 증착온도 변화에 따른 결정성 및 미세구조에 관한 연구

비정질 $SiO_{2}$위에서 증착시킨 $Si_{1-x}Ge_x$합금의 증착온도에 따른 결정성, 미세구조와 조성의 균일성을 X선 회절법과 투과 전자현미겨으로 조사하였고, $Si_{1-x}Ge_x/Sio_2$계면을 고분해능 투과 전자현미경을 이용하여 원자단위로 관찰하였다. Ge의 몰분율을 0.3으로 놓고 증착온도를 $300^{\circ}C,400^{\circ}C,500^{\circ}C,600^{\circ}C,700^{\circ}C$로 변화시키며 Si-MBE로 증착된 박막은 , 분석 결과 $300^{\circ}C$에서는 비정질상만이 존재하였고 $400^{\circ}C$에서는 결정상과 비정질상이 공존하고 있었다. 두상은 $SiO_2$위에 함께 증착되었으나 초기 성장에서는 비정질상이 주로 성장되었으며 박막의 두께가 비정질층이 관찰되었다. $600^{\circ}C$이상에서는 결정상으로만 증착되었다. 증착된 다결정상은 주상성장을 하였다. 증착된 박막의 조성은 중착온도에 관계없이 균일하였으며, $Si_{1-x}Ge_x/Sio_2$계면은 다결정상이나 비정질상에 관계없이 평탄하였다. The changes of crystallinity and microstructure and the $Si_{1-x}Ge_x/Sio_2$ interfaces of $Si_{1-x}Ge_x$ alloys deposited on amorphous $SiO_{2}$ were studied as a function of deposition temperature. The crystallinity, microstructure, and compositional uniformity of $Si_{1-x}Ge_x$ alloys deposited on the SiOl at different temperature were investigated by X-ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. And $Si_{1-x}Ge_x/Sio_2$ interface were investigated by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. The $Si_{0.7}Ge_{0.3}/Sio_2$ films were deposited on amorphous $SiO_{2}$ at $300^{\circ}C,400^{\circ}C,500^{\circ}C,600^{\circ}C,$ and $700^{\circ}C$ by Si-MBE. In the film deposited at $300^{\circ}C$, only amorphous phase were observed. In the film deposited at $400^{\circ}C$, both amorphous and polycrystalline films were observed. Both phases were deposited simultaneously, but, at initial film growth, amorphous phase prevailed over polycrystalline phase. As the film thickness increased, the fraction of polycrystalline phase increased. At $500^{\circ}C$, thin amorphous layer was observed at lOnm from $SiO_{2}$ surface. In the films deposited at higher than $600^{\circ}C$, only crystalline phase were observed. Polycrystalline films had columnar structure. Compositional uniformity for deposited films were good regardless of deposition temperature. The interfaces of $Si_{1-x}Ge_x/Sio_2$ were flat, whatever polycrystal or amorphous was deposited on $SiO_{2}$.
베체트병 환자에서 종통 (heel pain)의 임상적 의의

Objectives: To evaluate the clinical significance of heel pain, a frequently associated enthesopathy in Behcet`s disease and to evaluate the association with seronegative spondyloarthropathy. Methods: 15 Behcet`s disease patients diagnosed by International Study Group for Behcet`s disease criteria with arthritis were studied prospectively in the period of 1994. 3. 1-1995. 3. 31. Modified New York criteria was adopted for the diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis. The patients were grouped into two by the presence of heel pain which was documented as tenderness on heel. Results: There were 6 patients in the heel pain group and 9 patients in the non-heel pain group. Clinical characteristics were not significantly different between the two groups. Ankylosing sponaylitis was not associated in either group. ESR was higher with the value of 41.2mm/hr in heel pain group than 25.7mm/hr in non-heel pain group but it was not significant. In heel pain group, one patient showed HLA-B27 positivity, one patient showed erosive bone change, and one patient showed sacroiliitis but non-heel pain group showed no HLA positivity or bony changes. Conclusions: We find that subset of Behcet`s disease patients with heel pain showed tendency to have higher inflammatory activity, erosive bone change, sacroilitis and HLA B-27 association, thus should be classified as seronegative spondyloarthropathy but seems to be different category from ankylosing spondylitis. These observations should be conducted in a large number of patients to establish the clinical value.
광결정 공진기와 링 공진기의 공진특성 결합을 통한 바이오센서 응용

We propose a novel ring structure based on the stadium-shaped ring resonator (SSRR) with dual photonic crystal microcavity (DPCM) for biosensor and analyzed the sensing characteristics. The Q-factor of the photonic crystal microcavity (PCM) can be significantly enhanced when the PCM or DPCM has the same resonance condition as the SSRR. The simulation results show that the Q-factor of the SRR with DPCM was increased by three times in comparison with single PCM structure. We also defined a mutual interference between two PCMs. Assuming a detectable spectral resolution of 10 picometers, a refractive index resolution of 3.03×10-5 can be measured on the SSRR-DPCM.

We have investigated the optical properties of plamonic waveguide with tapered structure based on InP material for photonic integrated circuit(PIC). The proposed plasmonic waveguide is covered with the Ag thin film to generate the plasmonic wave on metallic interface. The optical characteristics of plasmonic waveguide were calculated using the three-dimensional finite-difference time-domain method. The plasmonic waveguide was fabricated with the lengths of 2 to $10{\mu}m$ and the widths of 400 to 700 nm, respectively. The plasmonic mode and optical loss were measured. The optimum plasmonic length is $10{\mu}m$ and widths are 600 and 700 nm in the fabricated waveguide. This plasmonic waveguide can be directly integrated with other conventional optical devices and can be essential building blocks of PIC.
폴리스티렌 나노 비드를 이용한 플라즈모닉 나노 구조체의 광학 특성

We proposed and demonstrated the double layered metallic nano-hole structure using polystyrene beads process to enhance the sensitivity of surface plasmon resonance (SPR). The double layered SPR structures are calculated using the finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) method for the width, thickness, and period of the metallic nano-hole structures. The thickness of the metal film and the metallic nano-hole is 30 and 20 nm in the 214 nm wide nano-hole size, respectively. The double layered SPR structures are fabricated with monolayer polystyrene beads of 420 nm wide. The sensitivities of the conventional SPR sensor and the double layered SPR sensor are obtained to 42.2 and 52.1 degree/RIU, respectively.
졸-겔법으로 성장시킨 Mg<sub>0.3</sub>Zn<sub>0.7</sub>O 박막의 Mg 전구체의 종류에 따른 광학적·구조적 특성에 관한 연구

In this study, Mg<sub>x</sub>Zn<sub>1-x</sub>O thin films, which can be applied not only to active layers of light-emitting devices (LEDs), such as UV-LEDs, but also to solar cells, high mobility field-effect transistors, and power semiconductor devices, are fabricated using the sol-gel method. ZnO and Mg<sub>0.3</sub>Zn<sub>0.7</sub>O solution synthesized by the sol-gel method and the thin film were grown by spin coating on a Si (100) substrate and sapphire substrate. The solutions are synthesized by dissolving precursor materials in 2-methoxyethanol (2-ME) solvent, and then monoethanolamine (MEA) was added to the mixed solution as a sol stabilizer. Zinc acetate dihydrate is used as a ZnO precursor, while Mg nitrate hexahydrate and Mg acetate tetrahydrate are used as an MgO precursor. Then, the optical and structural characteristics of the fabricated thin films are compared. The molar concentration of the Zn precursor in the solvent is fixed at 0.3 M, and the amount of the Mg precursor is 30% of Mg<sup>2+</sup>/Zn<sup>2+</sup>. The optical characteristics are measured using an UV-vis spectrophotometer, and the transmittance of each wavelength is measured. Structural characteristics are measured using X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Composition analyses are performed using energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The Mg<sub>0.3</sub>Zn<sub>0.7</sub>O thin film was well formed at the ratio of the Mg precursor added regardless of the type of Mg precursor, and the c-axis of the thin film was decreased, while the band gap was increased to 3.56 eV.
