Thin-walled injection molding has a lot of advantages such as weights, shape size, and reducing production cost, etc., and improve the rapid development of the information technology productions (mobile phone, monitor, for instance). The light guide plate is the major component of the backlight module, and high luminescence is obtained. LGP part’s dimensions become smaller, it thickness becomes smaller. The purpose of the present study is to predict the process of high speed injection molding corresponding to the capability of an injection molding machine for fabricating 5 inch LGP. Pressure and temperature in cavity were observed for operational conditions using the commercial CAE software, Moldflow. The plastic material of light guide plate is used for PC(HL8000) material by a measurement of viscosity.

박판 사출 성형에서 게이트 폭이 충전 불균형에 미치는 영향

Recently, the injection-molded products are lighter, and thinner than ever. In this work, injection molding simulation was conducted to analysis flow characteristics of in high speed injection molding process for thin-wall injection component, 8 inches LGP. Measuring rheological characteristics of high liquidity plastic resin PC(HL8000) was done using rheometers to improve reliability of numerical analysis for high speed injection process. As a result, shear heated polymer near the side wall causes filling imbalance between center and side of cavity. Short shot experiments were conducted and compared with simulation results. Filling imbalance showed a tendency to increase for higher injection speed and the width of fan gate.
