Glyphosate is the active ingredient in widely used herbicides. It acts through inhibition of the shikimate metabolic pathway in plants. This pathway does not exist in mammals, however, so glyphosate is presumably less toxic to humans. Nevertheless, fatal cases of glyphosate poisoning in humans have still occurred. Cases of glyphosate poisoning reported in the previous literature were almost always caused by intentional ingestion. Therefore, intramuscular injection of glyphosate with suicidal intent has not been reported. We report a case of 43-year-old man with poisoning due to intramuscular injection of glyphosate herbicide. He was admitted to the emergency department with a chilling sensation, local hotness, swelling, and tenderness at the site of glyphosate injection. He was treated with intravenous antibiotics and analgesics for 10 days and was discharged without any other complication.
인체모낭 기관배양 시 모낭의 형태와 성장속도에 영향을 미치는 배양인자에 관한 연구

Background: In order to study hair biology, a hair organ culture system is necessary. However satisfactory hair culture systems have not been established. Objective : The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of growth factors and to establish a hair organ culture system for studying hair biology and to evaluate the effectiveness of growth factors. Method: After the healthy human anagen hair follicles were collected without any visible damage, they were cultured in William E medium with several combinations of growth factors including insulin, hydrocortisone, sodium selenite, human transfemn, fetal calf serum and epidermal growth factor at 37C in an atmosphere of 5% CO2/air incubation. The culture medium was changed every 3 days. The results were evaluated by measuring hair growth and hair follicle morphology. Results : The results of this study are summarized as follows; 1) In the medium composed of insulin, hydrocortisone,sodium selenite and human transferrin, the human hair follicles continued to grow at an in vivo rate of 0.3mm in a day over 10 days without change of gross and microscopic morphology. 2) In the medium containing insulin and/or hydrocortisone the growing rate of the human hair follicles was similar to that in vivo, but the follicles revealed premature entry into catagen at 2-6 days in the culture macroscopically and microscopically. 3) Adding fetal calf serum to the above medium made the hair follicles retain the freshly isolated hair follicles morphology for 10 days in culture, even though they grew somewhat slower than the in vivo rate from 6 days in culture. 4) The effectiveness of EGF mimics the in vivo depilation of EGF in sheep. Conclusion : To supplement insulin, hydrocortisone, sodium selenite, transferrin as growth factors, William E medium was necessary for maintenance of an in vivo growth rate and the morphology the anagen hair follicles. This culture system is not enough, but it might be useful for investigation of the physiology, biology of hair follicles as well as pharmacology and toxicology in hair. This study regards the character of Urban Traditional Housing as not only the Transitional Housing for Conservation Historicity, but also the Urban Housing to be overcame in the modernization process. It focused on Bukchon where is the representative area of Urban Traditional Housing. This study researched how Bukchon housings have been influenced by the change of legal policy and social system in the aspects of elevation, space, technique and etc. Continuously, it might be possible to apply the remodeling method considering building management, variation of space, increased convenience, and improved sights. The purpose of this study is to possibility as one of the modem housing of Urban Traditional Housing.
재수화 반복횟수를 달리한 해삼 병조림의 저장기간에 따른 품질변화 특성

본 연구에서는 건해삼의 재수화 반복횟수에 따른 해삼의 크기 및 조직감 변화와 재수화 반복횟수를 달리한 해삼 병조림 레토르트 제조 시, 4주간의 저장기간에 따른 품질변화를 측정하였다. 재수화 반복횟수가 증가할수록 해삼의 길이와 부피, 무게 모두 유의적으로 증가하였으며, 5회 재수화 반복 시 최대 팽윤도를 보였다. 레토르트 병조림 가열처리 시 열전달 기작은 대류로서 냉점은 유리병 형상의 기하학적 위치보다 하단에서 측정되었고, 총 가열공정 시간(TTT)는 24분으로 산출되었다. 본 가열공정을 적용한 레토르트 해삼병조림의 가열 직후 및 저장기간에 따른 크기와 조직감 변화는 저장 1주차까지 유의적으로 변화하다가 저장 1주차부터 4주차까지 재수화 반복횟수에 관계없이 모든 실험군에서 일정한 경향을 보였다. 건해삼의 재수화 시 최대 팽윤도에서의 크기와 재수화율 및 조직감은 길이 100.86 mm, 부피38.62 mL, 무게 41.05 g, 재수화율 6.39, 경도 249.19 g<sub>f</sub>, 씹힘성 4.05 mJ로 산출되었다. 이는 해삼 레토르트 제품 제조시, 재수화 공정의 반복횟수에 관계없이 레토르트 가열처리 이후 저장기간 중 해삼의 크기와 조직감에서 동일한 값을 보이기 때문에, 레토르트 가열처리 전 재수화 1회 공정의 간편함으로 전통적인 방법 대비 짧은 재수화 공정을 기대할 수 있으며, 부가적으로 미생물학적 안전성과 소비자들의 간편한 취식 또한 기대할 수 있다. Quality changes of dried sea cucumber (Stichopusjaponicus) after applying a cyclic rehydration and retorting process were investigated during 4 weeks of storage. The length, volume, and weight of dried sea cucumber increased significantly as the number of rehydration cycles increased. Sea cucumber (SC) was bottled in the glass jar and a retort thermal process (121.1℃, 0.15 MPa) was applied. The total thermal processing time (TTT) was 24 min based on the temperature at the cold point. The size and texture of retorted SC were significantly changed until the first week of storage. However, regardless of the number of rehydration cycles, the size and texture of samples at different rehydration cycles showed no significant difference during the whole storage. The length, volume, weight, rehydration ratio (R<sub>R</sub>), hardness, and chewiness at the maximum degree of swelling during rehydration of dried SC were estimated as 100.86 mm, 38.62 mL, 41.05 g, 6.39 of R<sub>R</sub>, 249.19 gf, and 4.05 mJ, respectively.
