Objective : Lately variable oriental-western medicine treatment have been used for Bell's palsy. The purpose of this study is comparison of clinical treatment outcome between oriental medicine group and oriental-western medicine group. Materials and Methods : From 08-01-2000 to 07-30-2001, 30 Bell's palsy out-patients who visited within 5days after onset and treated more than 3weeks at the Department of Acupuncture & Moxibustion, Bundang CHA Oriental Medicine Hospital were selected for two groups. One group(A group) was treated by oriental medicine therapy(Acupunture, Herb, Physical therapy), the other group(B group) was treated by oriental-western medicine therapy(Acupunture, Herb, Physical therapy, Administration of prednison). Two group was composed of 15 patients respectively and measured by HBGS(House-Brackmann Grading System) and DEFS(Detailed Evaluation of Facial Symmetry of Pillsbury and Fisch) at first visit and 3weeks after. Result and Conclusion : A group was marked more higher than B group in treatment outcome. But we discovered that it is not significant differences between two groups.

Recurrent Bell's palsy is a very rare case and have been reported that shows the incidence to be approximately 10 per cent in the Bell's palsy patents. It is generally accepted that facial paralysis caused by compression of the facial nerve by tumor develops slowly and has an unremitting course, however, reported cases have described the rare association of recurrent facial paralysis and intracranial tumor, and the same recovery rate. Usual symptoms of Bell's palsy include subacute facial palsy, hyperacusis on the affected side, postauricular pain on the affected side, altered sensation of taste, and partial trigeminal distribution hypesthesias. Complete resolution of symptoms is usually seen in 2-3months in $75-85\%$ of cases, with $25-35\%$ showing varying degrees of residual effects. We report a case of 4th ipsilateral recurrent Bell's palsy in a 14-year-old women, which was occurred in every winters. We treated her with acupuncture, moxibustion, herbal medication, carbon and silver spike point, and used House-Brackmnn grading system(HBGS) and the Fisch Detailed Evaluation of Facial Symmetry(DEFS) to assess the degree of paralysis in each part of face.

Objective : The main cause of back pain & sciatica is HNP of L-spine. Recently, 8 Constitution Acupuncture is largely used for it, but the effects isn't announced. So we studied. The perceived pain diminishment is compared with Body acupuncture and 8 Constitution acupuncture. Methods : VAS(Visual analogue scale) was used for this research, with the pain indicator of 10 and 0 which represents a patient admission to a hospital and a status of no pain respectively. Two groups, consisting of Body acupuncture group with 17 persons and 8 Constitution acupuncture group with 12 persons, was randomly allocated for this research. SPSS(Statistical Program for Social Science) for window is used for a statistical analysis, and the independent T-test is performed to gauge the improvement of VAS, in which case, value of P below 0.05 is considered as useful. Results : The result of the VAS of comparison analysis between two groups after 10 days, shows that the improvement of subjective symptoms in Body acupuncture group is more effective than that in 8 Constitution acupuncture group. (independent T-test, P=0.009)

융합 시대의 문명론적 진단

인류 역사를 초거시적 시각에서 되돌아보면, 미분화 상태에 놓여있던 현상?활동?관념들이 분화나 전문화 과정을 거쳐 날로 작게 나뉘어져 온 “분화의 시대”로 일괄할 수 있다. 그러나 최근에는 지난 날 세계의 변화를 주도해온 분화적 원심력이 융합적 구심력으로 대체되는 반전의 조짐이 나타나고 있다. 이 논문에서는 페르낭 브로델이 강조한 바 있는 장기지속적 시간대를 보다 확장한 초장기적 관점에서 오늘날 세계 도처에서 감지되는 융합 현상들을 개관한 후, 그 맹아적 성격들에 근거해 융합문명의 특성과 의의를 탐지해 보고자 한다. 문명에 관한 접근법은 크게 다음 세 가지로 구분된다; 진보로서의 문명(계몽주의적 문명관), 퇴행으로서의 문명(자연주의/프로이트주의 문명관), 과정으로서의 문명(노베르트 엘리아스의 문명화과정론). 그러나 사회적 상태이자 과정인 문명은 진보적/퇴행적 문명론이 강조하는 전환성과 과정적 문명론이 강조하는 연속성을 동시적으로 포괄하는 패러다임적 접근에 의해 잘 규명될 수 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 (1) 기존 문명론의 종합적 검토를 통해 단계적 진화 개념을 주축으로 한 ‘패러다임적 문명론’을 정립하고, (2) 그에 입각해 인류의 문명사를 미분화 문명단계(농업문명), 분화 문명단계(산업문명) 및 탈(脫)분화문명 단계(융합문명)로 구분한 후, (3) 복잡성 정도가 임계점을 넘어섰다고 판단되는 융합문명기의 특성과 의의를 행위자연결망이론(actor-network theory)의 통찰에 의거해 고찰한다. By looking back from an extremely long-term perspective, the entire history of mankind until the twentieth century can be described as “the process of differentiation.” Such argument can be found in the works of masters of social thought including Immanuel Kant, Emile Durkheim, Herbert Spencer and Marx Weber. However, the sign of reversal that substitutes the centripetal force of convergence for the centrifugal force of differentiation appears recently. This paper attempts to examine this mega-trend toward convergence and identifies the characteristics of a new epochal state of ‘convergence civilization.’ The approach to civilization is classified as following: (1) “civilization as progress,” an idea of enlightenment, (2) “civilization as degradation,” a Naturalist/Freudian view and (3) “civilization as an ongoing process” as suggested by Norbert Elias. But civilization may be best understood by the paradigmatic perspective that takes into account the process of civilization as a continuum proposed by Elias as well as the idea of transition suggested by progressive and deteriorative approaches. Based upon the paradigmatic framework of civilization dynamic, the human civilization is categorized into three stages: stage of undifferentiated civilization(agricultural civilization), stage of differentiated civilization(industrial civilization) and stage of de-differentiated civilization(convergence civilization). The convergence civilization, initiated by the development of digital technology that gives rise to a flexible accumulation, decentralization of power, and the rise of multiculturalism and postmodernism, tends not only to have a vital influence on techno-economic aspect, but also on social, cultural, mental, and physical aspects. Due to the dynamic process of high complexity, a convergent society is seen as the prototype of complexity system of high degree of freedom. However, its additional characteristics such as boundlessness, multiplicity, and co-production, make convergent society to go beyond the level of conventional complexity system and move toward a ‘convergence system,’ where link than node, relation than structure, description than explanation, arrangement than causation and hybrid order than harmonious order are highly considered. The human society has been developing from pre-industrial stage, through industrial stage and up to current post-industrial stage, i.e., the stage of information society. Then, how can we define the trait of ‘post-information society?’ It is explained in George Gilder’s “Telecosm,” Manuel Castells’s “Network Society,” Rolf Jensen and Jim Dator’s “Dream Society,” Daniel Pink’s “Conceptual Age” and Jeremy Rifkin’s “Empathic Civilization.” “Convergent Society” is my answer to the question. From this point of view, information society that is also labeled as high-tech society, knowledge society, digital society or cyber society, is not entitled to be an independent unit of civilization. It may rather be regarded as a passing guest of human history connecting the industrial civilization of differentiation era with the convergence civilization of de-differentiation era.

정보혁명의 사회제도적 파장

사회제도의 현대적 변화상은 “유연화” 논제로 대변할 수 있다. 사회제도적 유연화는 1970년대 중반 생산 영역에서 일어난 축적 체제의 전환으로 소급 된다. 경직성을 특징으로 하는 포디즘적 축적 체제가 위기에 직면하자 “유연적 축적 체제”를 기반으로 한 자본주의의 재구조화가 착수되었기 때문이다. 하지만 정보혁명기의 기술 발전이 그에 가세함으로써 소품종 대량생산을 다품종소량생산으로 대체하는 생산 활동의 유연화가 본격적으로 추진되었다. 생산 활동의 유연화로 종전의 경직적?수직적?폐쇄적 직무 구조가 존속하기 어렵게 됨으로써 평생직장의 개념이 퇴색하여, 안정적 고용 상태하에 예측 가능한 미래를 설계하기보다 끊임없는 도전과 모험을 감수해야 하는 상황이 전개되었다. 이처럼 유연화는 노동 세계에서 발원한 것이지만, 추후 가정, 교육제도 및 여가 생활로 파급됨으로써 정주적 형태를 벗어난 유목적 삶을 지향하는 사회제도 전반의 유연화를 초래해왔다. 따라서 이 글에서는 산업자본주의적 생산양식의 한계에서 포스트포디즘이 라는 유연적 축적 체제가 태동하는 과정을 기술 변화와 관련지어 개괄적으로 논의한 후, 유연화가 사회제도 전반으로 외연되는 양상을 노동, 교육 및 일상생활의 3대 영역을 중심으로 고찰하고, 유연 사회의 긍정적?부정적 측면을 검토하면서 합리적 대응 방안을 탐지하였다. The institutional transformations of contemporary societies can be subsumed under the theme of flexibility, The process of institutional flexibility may be traced back to 1970s when capitalist restructuring was initiated by the regime of flexible accumulation. The tendency toward flexibility has been accelerated by the application of advanced IT to the world of work since the outset of the Information Revolution. Nowadays flexibility turns out to be an alternative organizing principle that enables us to explain current changes of institutional arrangements. In this paper, we are going to examine factors and conditions that gave rise to the formation of flexible social order with respect to three main institutional arenas of the family, education and non-working sector. Then, expected benefits and problems of institutional flexibility are discussed and plausible coping strategies are explored.

Zr₂WP₂O₁₂ 세라믹스의 합성과 소결거동 연구

$Zr_2WP_2O_{12}$ powder, which has a negative thermal expansion coefficient, was synthesized by a solid-state reaction with $ZrO_2$, $WO_3$ and $NH_4H_2PO_4$ as the starting materials. The synthesis behavior was dependent on the solvent media used in the wet mixing process. The $Zr_2WP_2O_{12}$ powder prepared with a solvent consisting of D. I. water was fully crystallized at $1200^{\circ}C$, showing a sub-micron particle size. According to the results obtained from a thermal analysis, a $ZrP_2O_7$ was synthesized at a low temperature of $310^{\circ}C$, after which it was reacted with $WO_3$ at $1200^{\circ}C$. A new sintering additive, $Al(OH)_3$, was applied for the densification of the $Zr_2WP_2O_{12}$ powders. The cold isostatically pressed samples were densified with 1 wt% $Al(OH)_3$ additive or more at $1200^{\circ}C$ for 4 h. The main densification mechanism was liquid-phase sintering due to the liquid which resulted from the reaction with amorphous or unstable $Al_2O_3$ and $WO_3$. The densified $Zr_2WP_2O_{12}$ ceramics showed a relative density of 90% and a negative thermal expansion coefficient of $-3.4{\times}10^{-6}/^{\circ}C$. When using ${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$ as the sintering agent, densification was not observed at $1200^{\circ}C$.

퇴행성 슬관절염 환자에 대한 슬관절방(膝關節方) 1호(號)의 제형변화 유효성 임상연구

Objective: This study is designed to compare the effects of Sulguanjul-Bang No.1 on osteoarthritis in knee joint according to formulation. Methods: 47 patients with symptomatic osteoarthritis of the knee joint were enrolled in a open clinical trial. The 47 patients were devided into two groups at random and taken Sulguanjul-bang No.1 with decoction type, suspension type respectively for8 weeks. After 8-week treatment period, the following parameters were analyzed ; Visual analogue Scale(VAS), Lysholm index score, patients' global assessment. Results: Sulguanjul-bang No.1 treatment led to significant improvement in the pain and symptoms of osteoarthritis as determined by all efficacy measures. After 8 weeks of therapy, there was significant improvement in VAS, Lysholm index and patients' global assessment. But there is no significant difference between two groups. Conclusions: Sulguanjul-bang No.1 was very beneficial pain relief effect and functional improvement irrespect of formulation, decoction type or suspension type.

요추간판탈출증에 기인한 요통환자의 침치료와 봉독약침 병행치료에 대한 비교 연구

Objective: Herniation of Nucleus Pulpous(HNP) of L-spine is the most important reason that causes low back pain. The aim of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of Bee venom acua-acupuncture therapy for HNP. Methods: We divided HNP patient into 2 groups: Control group with acupuncture therapy only, and Experimental group with both acupuncture and bee venom acua-acupuncture therapy. To estimate the efficacy of treatment that applied for two groups, we used visual analog scale(VAS) and Oswestry disability index(ODI). We compared the VAS and ODI score of two groups statistically. Results & Conclusions: 1. In VAS, experimental group shows statitically significant improvement rate, but control group does not show statistical significance. 2. In ODI, both the experimental and control group shows statistically significant improvement. 3. By comparing the experimental and control group, there was more significant improvement in experimental group than control group of VAS and ODI. As a result, bee venom acua-acupuncture therapy can be used with acupuncture therapy for highly effective treatment for HNP.
