Background: Interplay of numerous constitutional and precipitating factors are involved in the development of atopic dermatitis (AD). Most of these etiologic factors are not controllable, but barrier dysfunction can be managed. Correction of barrier abnormalities has been accepted as a first-line therapy with effective anti-inflammatory therapy. Objective: We wished to establish standardized skin care guidelines for Korean patients who suffer from atopic dermatitis. Methods: The skin care guidelines were proposed by the Korean Atopic Dermatitis Association (KADA), with a particular emphasis for barrier dysfunction in AD from a review of more than 100 published studies and related documents in the clinical literature by a task force team (TFT) of the KADA. The TFT also evaluated the reliability of the studies based on scientific evidence and the size of the study populations. The TFT disregarded controversial findings and summarized all of the collected studies. Results: Skin care guidelines were proposed by the KADA, particularly for barrier dysfunction in AD. A warm bath for approximately 20 minutes was recommended once daily. Soap can be used two or three times per week and aggressive skin scrubbing should be avoided. A topical moisturizer should be applied at least twice a day. Immediate application of emollient is required after bathing. The donning of clothing made of cotton is recommended. Nails should be cut short to reduce skin damage caused by a skin scratch. Conclusion: Application of moisturizer immediately after appropriate bathing may be the most important treatment for skin care. A topical steroid should be used whenever AD develops. Nail care and proper clothing are also be helpful for the prevention of dermatitis aggravation. Proper ways to bathe, use of moisturizer and topical steroids and nail care and appropriate clothing were considered. (Korean J Dermatol 2009;47(5):531~538)

Background: Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic, relapsing inflammatory skin disease with genetic and environmental backgrounds. While the prevalence of AD is increasing, many patients lack accurate information and understanding about AD. Objective: This study was performed to investigate the understanding of AD among Korean AD patients. Methods: We developed a survey instrument to assess patient understanding of AD. Surveys were conducted over a 6-month period (from May 2010 to October 2010) among 415 patients with AD who visited 10 dermatology clinics at a university teaching hospital affiliated with the Korean Atopic Dermatitis Association. Results: We identified points of understanding in Korean AD patients, such as knowledge and attitudes about AD, awareness of AD treatment, reliability of health care providers and information sources, and acting with AD treatment. As the results of this survey, it was confirmed that the patients` understanding of the cause and prognosis of AD was relatively inadequate, and it could be seen that the perception of the negative attitude toward the medical treatment of AD and inconveniences caused by AD was high. However, the results of the survey on the perception about the medical treatment methods of AD showed that they perceived medical doctors` treatment and prescriptions to have the best curative value, and as the criteria for choosing the treatment methods for AD, they chose the curative value rather than safety and cost. With regard to the information source for AD, they evaluated the treatment postscript on the internet sites and reliability of news media more highly than other information sources, and they responded that the main channel through which they obtain information related to AD was the medical doctors` explanations. Conclusion: We conducted the first systematic questionnaire survey to assess the understanding of AD among Korean AD patients. The results of this survey indicate that in the education and promotion on AD patients, additional education with regard to the cause and prognosis of AD is needed, and it is considered that efforts should be made to reduce the negative perception of AD through smooth communication with the medical team. In education and promotion related to AD, treatment postscripts on news media and the internet sites should also be addressed. Ultimately, the patients` self-discipline capabilities should be reinforced through proper education and development of programs related to AD. (Korean J Dermatol 2012;50(3):201~211)
Poly(MAn-co-VAc)
Vol.46 No.3
Poly(maleic anhydride-co-vinyl acetate) copolymers were prepared by copolymerization in toluene, using AIBN as initiator. Cotton knit fabric was treated with poly(MAn-co-VAc) and the changes in the dye resist property with molecular weight, concentration and curing time was studied. The dye resist ability was evaluated by colorimetric analysis. Higher molecular weight copolymers were more efficient in blocking the dye. This appears to be due to the preferential reaction of the copolymer on the surface of cotton fabric, where the longer chains are more efficient in blocking the penetration of the dye into the fiber, due to the hydrophobic nature of the vinyl acetate comonomer. The blocking effect increased with concentration of the blocking agent padding bath, but yellowing occurred at concentrations above 30 wt%. Although dye resist effect was best when curing time of poly(MAn-co-VAc) was 2 min 30 see, the cotton fabric turned yellowish. Therefore, curing time should be less than 2 min 15 sec in order to avoid yellowing effect and obtain good dye resist property.

We report a case of neuroblastoma with multiple skin metastases as a chief complaint in a 2-month-old girl. the skin lesions were rnultiple, pea-sized, bluish, nontender, moable subcutaneous nodules on abdomen, back and scalp. Histopathology showed small round or poly gonal tumor cells which have deeply stained, basophilic, hyperchromatic nuclei with some mitoses. Th.se tumor cells showed clumping tendency which is one of early menifestations of rosette formation. Immunohistochemically positive reaction was demonstrated by anti-NSE(neuron specific enolase) antilody but negative reaction by anti-NFP (neurofilament proteiin ) antibody. She has been succesfully treated with combined chemotherapy for 10 months without relapse. (Kor J Dermatol 1993; 31 (2): 264-268)

Background: Cutis marmorata telangiectatica congenita (CMTC) is a rare congenital cutaneous anomaly characterized by persistent reticular skin lesion with a blue to purple color change. While the natural prognosis of the disease is generally considered good, limited data are available regarding the natural course of Korean patients with CMTC. Objective: To investigate the clinical features and natural course of Korean patients with CMTC. Methods: We performed a single-center retrospective study of 34 Korean patients diagnosed with CMTC at our institution between January 1999 and June 2019. Results: A slight female predominance was observed (male:female ratio, 1:1.4) and 82.4% of the patients were diagnosed before 2 years of age. Body asymmetry (32.4%) and other vascular anomalies (14.7%) were the two anomalies most frequently associated with CMTC. Most of the skin lesions developed on the lower extremities (67.6% lower extremity only, 20.6% lower extremity and other body regions) and 85.3% of the lesions occurred unilaterally. Among 25 patients with one or more follow-up evaluations, 20 (80.0%) showed spontaneous fading of the skin lesion. However, none showed a complete resolution. Finally, statistical analysis did not reveal any significant variable associated with the natural prognosis of CMTC. Conclusion: Korean patients with CMTC had similar clinical features and natural course as those described in the previous literature. Notably, a greater portion of the patients showed improvement in skin lesions compared to those in previous studies. However, complete resolution of the skin lesion seems to be rare, if not impossible. (Korean J Dermatol 2020;58(3):168∼173)

While there is a great demand for malware classification to reduce the time required in malware analysis and find a new type of malware, various similarity measurement methods of malware to classify a lot of malwares have been proposed. But, the existing methods to measure similarity just represented the classification results by them and have not carried out performance comparison with other methods. This is because an evaluation model to compare the performance of similarity measurement methods is non-existent. In this paper, we propose a new performance evaluation model on similarity measurement methods of malware by using two indicators: success rate and degree of confidence. In addition, we compare and evaluate the performance of existing similarity measurement methods by using these two indicators.
