Start acceleration of vehicle is frequently occurred during driving, and characteristics such as responsiveness and accelerating ability during start acceleration are drivability influential factors. In order to make good drivability, powertrain of vehicle must generate driving force that corresponds to acceleration performance requested by the driver. Additionally it must be guaranteed an appropriate response time and no shock phenomena. And throttle control as acceleration pedal input is necessary to satisfy those qualification. In order to predict vehicle start acceleration characteristics as throttle control, a torque flow model of power distribution process focusing on the characteristics of the drive type(FR) and the transmission(A/T) was established, and a simulation model using Matlab Simulink program was established based on the model. More accurate prediction results were induced by analyzing the characteristics of vehicle, engine, and drivetrain obtained from vehicle road tests and pretests and applying them to the established simulation model. Also, movement characteristics similar to the real movements were reproduced by comparing the real vehicle road tests and the simulation results to secure reliability of the simulation data. Based on the simulation result of this research, initial vehicle acceleration characteristics verified the effect of control strategy for acceleration responsiveness and acceleration of vehicle through throttle control adjustment based on the acceleration pedal input.

An alternator is a device that converts mechanical energy produced from the engine to electrical energy necessary to car. Then, the converting electrical power does not equal the converted mechanical power because of the efficiency of the alternator. The difference between converting power and converted power is the power loss and the magnitude of which is decided by the alternator efficiency. In this study, to figure out the effect of alternator efficiency on fuel economy, simulate model of car on the FTP-75 mode by using data of alternator efficiency obtained from experiments. Fuel economy of FTP-75 is positive affected by higher efficiency alternator and influence of alternator efficiency on fuel economy varies according to the cars.

On a vehicle, electric energy consumption also increase, because of increase of the electric convenience equipment & electronic control equipment. Alternator charge control is the way which product electric energy efficiently. In this study, to figure out the effect of alternator charge control logic on fuel economy of FTP-75, establish the simulation model about the battery and the alternator efficiency using MATLAB - Simulink. And experiment on vehicles and alternators to establish the model.
