For standardization of LMK02 quality, Ginsenoside Rg3 of Red Ginseng and Decursin of Angelica gigas Nakai in the constituents of LMK02 were estimated as indicative components. From LMK02 water extract, has been used in vitro test for its beneficial effects on neuronal survival and neuroprotective functions, particularly in connection with APP-related dementias and Alzheimer's disease (AD). $A{\beta}$ oligomer derived from proteolytic processing of the ${\beta}$-amyloid precursor protein (APP), including the amyloid-${\beta}$ peptide ($A{\beta}$), play a critical role in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's dementia. We determined that oligomer amyloid-${\beta}$ ($A{\beta}$) have a profound attenuation in the increase in rat hippocampus H19-7 cells from. Experimental evidence indicates that LMK02 protects against neuronal damage from cells, but its cellular and molecular mechanisms remain unknown. Using a hippocampus cell line on $A{\beta}$ oligomer-induced neuronal cytotoxicity, we demonstrated that LMK02 inhibits formation of $A{\beta}$ oligomer, which are the behavior, and possibly causative, feature of AD. In the Red Ginseng, the average amounts of Ginsenoside Rg3 were $47.04{\mu}g/g$ and $42.3{\mu}g/g$, 90 % of its weight were set as a standard value. And, in the Angelica gigas Nakai, the average amounts of Decursin were 2.71 mg/g and 2.44mg/g, 90 % of its weight were also set as a standard value. The attenuated $A{\beta}$ oligomer in the presence of LMK02 was observed in the conditioned medium of this $A{\beta}$ oligomer-induced cells under in vitro. In the cells, LMK02 significantly activated antiapoptosis and decreased the production of ROS. These results suggest that neuronal damage in AD might be due to two factors: a direct $A{\beta}$ oligomer toxicity and multiple cellular and molecular neuroprotective mechanisms, including attenuation of apoptosis and direct inhibition of $A{\beta}$ oligomer, underlie the neuroprotective effects of LMK02 treatment.

Objective : Recent studies indicate that the deposition of beta-amyloid (Aβ) is related in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer`s disease (AD), but the underlying mechanism is still not clear. Method : To investigate the potential cellular functions of APP and LMK02, we use transgenic drosophila as a model was treated with either LMK02, and the effect in APP expression was determined by climbing assay. LMK02 have been shown to be neuroprotective in fly model systems. We asked whether dietary supplementation with LMK02 would influence behavior and AD-like pathology in a transgenic fly model. Result : LMK02 water extract have attenuated fly death in vivo. LMK02-treated fly increased percentage of flight ability more longly and survival ratio more than controls. APP-GRIM drosophila treated with LMK02 had significantly less accumulation of APP deposition in the eye and brain as compared to control drosophila. Conclusion : These results suggest that LMK02 prevent APP-induced neurotoxicity through attenuating flies death induced by APP, and may be useful as potential therapeutic agents for AD.

In line with the trend towards electrification in mobility, there is a demand for the development of nextgeneration Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors(MLCCs) with superior properties compared to those using the conventional BaTiO3 (BT) ceramics. For this, various high-performing ferroelectric ceramics have been proposed as post-BT materials, and numerous studies have been conducted on the role of oxygen vacancies within these materials. It has been confirmed that oxygen vacancies in the ceramic material have a significant impact on various properties such as oxygen ionic conduction, IR degradation, microstructure, aging degradation, and hardening effect, and by controlling the concentration and mobility of oxygen vacancies, it is possible to adjust these properties. We hope that research on the role of oxygen vacancies in various high-performing ferroelectric ceramics will be utilized as a foundation of knowledge for the development of next-generation MLCCs in the future.
만성 긴장성 두통환자의 매선요법과 침의 효과에 대한 예비적 비교 연구

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy of Needle-Embedding Therapy with Acupuncture for Chronic Tension-type Headache (CTTH) patients. Methods: The study recruited Chronic Tension-type Headache patients. A total of twenty-six patients were divided into 2 groups. 13 subjects were placed into a needle-embedding therapy group and 13 subjects into an acupuncture therapy group by a randomization table. The needle-embedding therapy group was treated with needle-embedding at Fengchi (GB20), while the acupuncture therapy was acupunctured at Fengchi (GB20). Then, a comparative analysis was conducted by comparing the results with those measured by a Blood pressor, Heart rate variability (HRV), Henry Ford Headache Disablity Inventory (HDI) Internet Headache Impact Test (HIT), and Visual Analogue Scale (VAS). Results & Conclusions: As a result of evaluation by using the self-rating headache index (VAS, HDI, HIT), pain score declined in both groups. But they were not difference between the two groups.

Objectives : The Bambusae Caulis in Taeniam has been used in traditional oriental medicine to treat a variety of mental disorders including anxiety and depression. The purpose of present study is to observe the changes which take place in the body in stressful situations and to compare the anti-depressive, anxiolytic and anti-stress effect of Bambusae Caulis in Taeniam in different doses. Methods : This study was performed to evaluate the effects of Bambusae Caulis in Taeniam in the immobilization stress model in rats. Twenty-five rats were divided into 5 groups of 5: control, stress, low dose administration (75 mg/kg), medium dose administration (150 mg/kg) and high dose administration (225 mg/kg). The four groups other than the control group were placed in an immobilization stress test, and distilled water (control) or Bambusae Caulis in Taeniam extract was administration orally for 2 weeks. After treatment, the despair and anxiety behavior of rats were measured by open field test, forced swimming test, weight gain, contents of 5-HT in raphe nucleus and adrenal gland weight. Results & Conclusions : As a result of evaluation by measuring five aspects, FST, OFT, weight gain, 5-HT contents and adrenal gland weight, Bambusae Caulis in Taeniam has significant antidepressant, anxiolytic, anti-stress effects.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of Joganiknoe-tang on diplopia and ptosis from cerebrovascular disease. Methods : We recruited 2 patients who have diplopia and ptosis because of cerebrovascular disease. In addition, the patients had been administrated by Joganiknoe-tang. Diplopia and ptosis of patients had been estimated with VAS (Visual Analogue Scale) and difference of both eye`s interpalpebral fissure. We measured VAS (Visual Analogue Scale) and difference of both eye`s interpalpebral fissure for every five days Results : After the treatments, symptoms were decreased and almost disappeared. In both cases, diplopia patients complained decreased from VAS 10 to VAS 1, and difference of both eye`s interpalpebral fissure disappeared Conclusions : This study suggests that Joganiknoe-tang is significantly effective on diplopia and ptosis because of cerebrovascular disease.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of Needle-Embedding Therapy on dementia patients. Methods : We recruited 3 dementia patients who have been experiencing memory disorder and orientation disorder. The patients had been evaluated with Mini-Mental State Examination-K (MMSE-K), Global Deterioration Scale (GDS) and Clinical Dementia Rating (CDR). The patients were treated with herbal medication (Sunghyangjunggi-san) and acupuncture. After 15 days, the patients were added to Needle-Embedding Therapy. We measured MMSE-K, GDS and CDR for every 15 days. The effects of additional Needle-Embedding Therapy were compared with the effects of acupuncture and herbal medicine. Results : After Needle-Embedding Therapy was added, Patients` memory and orientation have been improved and the score of MMSE-K ascended. The grade of GDS and CDR were maintained or decreased. Conclusions : This study suggests that Needle-Embedding Therapy is significantly effective on Dementia patients.
전침을 활용한 안검하수와 안구운동마비를 동반한 편두통환자의 치험 1례

Objectives: The purpose of this case was to investigate the effectiveness of electroacupuncture for ophthamoplegic migraine. Methods: We provided electroacupuncture therapy and prescribed oriental medicine, Joganiknoe tang daily. We measured patient`s pain by VAS(Visual Analogue Scale) and eye movement with a ruler every five days. Results & Conclusions: Any patient who has a headache with paresis of the extraocular muscle should be considered for ophthalmoplegic migraine. To diagnose ophthalmoplegic migraine, family history, past medical history, associated symptoms and signs, neurologic examinations and neuroimaging tests are needed. The symptoms of patient improved gradually within 26days from the first day of admission, and we can see her complete recovery.
