The purpose of this study is to research the effective teaching method in practical education of clothing construction in high school. The hypotheses were that the use of the efficient teaching materials will develop the academic achievement in the practical education of clothing construction, and that the method of teaching in advance with the use of the efficient teaching materials will be more effective. For the basic observation of this study, the study members surveyed the actual status of the field of clothing construction. Three classes of second grade at the attached high school to college of Education of Chonnam National University were divided into one control group and two experimental groups. In according to the I. Q. and school record of last year of the students as the basic achievement, the control group was better In school result than the experimental groups. The difference was found to be statistically significant at 0.001 level(P<0.001). The study members applied teaching materials planned by theirs and the method of teaching in advance to the chapter of the blouse construction of second grade of high school. The result of the study sum up as follows. The experimental group A which used the teaching materials appeared to be more effective than control group, and the experimental group B which used the method of teaching in advance with teaching materials was more effective- than experimental group A. Analyses of these results show that between the experimental group A and the control group, the differences did not exist in the grade of understanding of text, but the differences existed in the grade of skill(P<0.01), especially in sewing, and that between the experimental group B and the experimental group A, the differences existed in grade of understanding and skill in statistically significant.
