이 연구는 老子 《道德經》의 아마추어리즘 특성을 고찰하고, 이를 기반으로 한국교육의 反아마추어리즘 속성을 극복할 대안적인 시론이다. 또한 《道德經》에 내재된 아마추어리즘의 교육적 함의를 탐색하려는 연구이다. 필자들은 자본주의가 고도로 발전된 한국사회에서는 교육의 내재적 목적보다는 외재적 목적이 강조된다고 이해한다. 즉 한국교육이 교육의 내재적인 본질에서 벗어나 ‘∼을 위한’, ‘∼을 성취하기 위한’ 수단적 목적으로 전개되고 있다는 점에 주목하였다. 필자들의 恣意的 판단이지만, 인류사회의 영원불변한 진리를 담고 있는 고전을 통하여 한국사회에서 발생하는 다양한 교육적 문제들의 원인을 찾고, 이를 극복하기 위한 논의를 시도하는 것은 학문적으로 의미 있다. 이러한 맥락에서 이 연구는 한국교육의 반아마추어리즘적 현상을 분석하고, 노자의 《道德經》에 내재된 ‘아마추어리즘’의 속성을 분석하였고, 이것을 통해 《道德經》에 나타난 ‘아마추어리즘’의 교육적 함의를 논의하였다. 연구결과를 요약하면, 《道德經》에 나타난 아마추어리즘은 ‘성공에 집착하지 않고 삶 자체를 즐기는 자유와 비움의 가치관’, ‘이원적 세계관을 초월한 조화의 가치관’이다. 아울러 《道德經》에 나타난 아마추어리즘을 통하여 급변하는 세속적 사회의 원리들과는 분리된 영속적인 교육, 순수의 교육, 무위자연의 교육을 확인할 수 있었다. This study was conducted to examine significance and characteristics of Amateurism connoted in the Lao-tzu"s philosophy and to determine its practical meanings to modern education in Korea. Concrete characteristics and definitions of Amateurism connoted in Lao-tzu"s philosophy were analyzed to achieve this study"s agenda. Next step was analyzing actual phenomenon present in the fields of modern education in Korea. Alternative courses to overcome uneducational circumstances appearing in modern education in Korea were examined from Lao-Zi"s philosophy based on above two phases. Education teleology inferred from Lao-tzu"s Amateurism tends to provide critical views on various uneducational circumstances appearing in modern education in Korea. Ultimate goal of modern education is expressed as an ideology of individual success rather than a holistic approach viewing the human being as an objective. Moreover, education is being utilized to win over competitions with others and achieve the better status. Above tendencies oppose to the characteristics of Amateurism specified in Lao-tzu"s Taoteching. The characteristics of Amateurism specified in Lao-tzu"s Taoteching can help critically perceive the reality of education in Korea and sufficiently contribute to propose an epistemological view suggesting a paradigm of new education.

본 연구는 연구자들이 이미 논문으로 작성한 「아마추어리즘의 교육적 함의」의 후속 연구로 ≪도덕경≫에 나타난 아마추어리즘(Amateurism)을 현대교육에 적용하기 위해 시도되었다. 본 연구의 결과를 요약하면, ≪도덕경≫에서 유추된 아마추어리즘과 그 아마추어리즘에서 연역된 교육적 시사점들은 사회의 구조적 변화를 전제로 하는 것이 아니다. 즉 노자사상의 출발점은 사회의 문제를 풀기 위해서 사회구조나 제도의 변화를 주장하는 것이 아니라 개별적 존재인 인간의 인식전환을 전제한다. ≪도덕경≫의 아마추어리즘적 속성들은 다양한 학문 분야에 긍정적인 아이디어를 제공할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 특히 교육학의 영역에서 그 아이디어는 현대교육의 병리현상을 극복할 수 있는 정책적 시사점을 제공한다. 즉 본 연구에서 탐구된 교육목적관과 교사관은 후속하는 교육정책개발에 기초적 방향을 제시할 것으로 기대한다. 본 연구를 통해 연구자들이 제안하고자 하는 것은 아마추어리즘에 근거한 인간 마음의 재구조화에 대한 가능성이다. 즉 현대사회의 교육현실과 매우 동떨어진 ‘무위의 교육관’, ‘무언의 교사’, ‘불언지교의 교육방법’은 현대교육이 지향해야 할 바를 역설적으로 강변하고 있다. 그리고 현대교육이 작금의 상황을 지속하거나 가속화 할 경우, 교육에서 인간이라는 요소는 소외될 것이라고 엄중하게 경고하고 있다. This study is a post-research to the “Educational implication of Amateurism,” which analyzed Lao-tzu"s ≪Taoteching≫, conducted in 2016. The purpose of this study is to explain the Educational Applications of Amateurism specified in ≪Taoteching≫. An arguments researchers are implying in this study is that the public living in the modern society is being dominated by the professionalism. The term professional inherits a clear objective and direction. Also, specific strategy to achieve the objective as well as rewards for the results exist and liability issues stemming from incorrect results are distinct. However, human minds living in this kind of social system are always in unstable condition as they live in anxiety being exposed to the endless competition and new environments as well as objectives. Amateuristic attributes in ≪Taoteching≫ may be able to provide positive ideas to the various kinds of academic fields, especially providing proper political as well as systemic implications to overcome pathological phenomenon of the modern education. Various educational implications suggested in this research stands counter to the education of modern society, however, clearly suggests directions that education for human being should aim.
