        The heat transfer characteristics on curved surfaces with an obliquely impinging circular jet were studied. In this study, the flat plate and hemispherically convex and concave surfaces were used. The Reynolds number used was Re=23,000. The nozzle-to-surface distance was L/d=4, 6 and 8. The jet angle was α=0˚ and 30˚. As the results of this study, the Nusselt number at the stagnation point decreases as the jet angle increases and has the maximum value for L/d=6. The secondary maximum Nusselt numbers in the downstream direction occur at long distances from the stagnation point as the jet angle increases or the nozzle-to-surface distance decreases. The Nusselt number distributions exhibit a displacement of the maximum heat transfer from the stagnation point to the upstream direction.

        Automobile exhaust system has difficulty in concentrating contrary technology, which has diminishing effect of maximum exhaust noises and mininum exhaust pressure for output efficiency improvement into on system. This thesis has the purpose in management of basis study for silence and output efficiency improvement which can be satisfy low noises and low exhaust pressure at the same time through maximizing engine efficiency dealing with activity as the condition of engine controlling exhaust impedance actively. In this thesis, we obtained positive result by making experiment high efficiency exhaust induced shaped silencer in order to satisfy contrary matters which device the improvement of engine efficiency and low perception of exhaust noises at the same time. That is, we proved that it has more excellent in low perceiving noises of exhaust system and output improving efficiency than existing muffler by active controlling the exhaust impedance.

      • 주방환기 시스템의 공기 급기구의 위치에 따른 성능평가

        The purpose of this study is to investigate the performance evaluation of indoor diffusion rate of surplus heat generated from gas range and concentration distribution of combustion gas by position change of air- diffuser and range-hood with separating plate. A numerical analysis is performed with four cases of this ventilation system for kitchen. The results showed that thermal and flow distribution can be more effective, when air supply diffuser is located at middle position. Also, Comparisons of Indoor Air Quality(IAQ) are made between using separating plate and not using, IAQ was improved in case of using separating plate and also, kitchen exhaust hood concentration distribution was improved about 30%

      • 一部 農村地域 住民의 여름철 營養攝取狀態에 대한 調査

        In order to obtain basic information on nutrient intake of residents in rural community during the summer that can be used as reference material for making health policy in the future, a three day survey has been conducted at Jeomdong-Myun, Yeoju-Gun, Kyunggi province which is the pilot project area for the project implemented by the Community Health Development Committee, Korea University. The sample size was 46 households and the major findings were as follows; 1. The number of foods they were taking totalled 16 categories and 152 kinds. 2. Average amount of daily intake was 1,124 grams per person of which 93% was vegetable food, and animal food occupied only 7%. Amongst the animal foods, the intake amount of fishes and milk was lower than the national average. 3. The nutrient intake except fatty substance and calcium, namely protein, carbohydrate, phosphorus, iron and vitamines, was exceeding the recommended daily allowance for adult. The same fact was also found in terms of the total calorie intake. 4. The problems on the nutrient intake arisen from the study in this area were; a. The proportion of animal protein occupies 24% of the total protein intake whereas the national average of rural community stood at between 32.5%∼33.5% as a results of 1981∼1984 National Nurition survey. b. Insufficient intake of fat and oil, and c. Calcium intake occupies only 72% of the recommended daily allowance and 84.5% of the calcium intake was depending upon vegetable, which has a low absorbability. As described above, the intake of animal protein, fatty substance and calcium was low because of the high dependency on vegetable food in this community.

        골수구성 백혈병 환자에게 발생한 결핵성 림프절염

        혈액질환 가운데 결핵 발생이 증가한다고 알려진 것은 호지킨 림프종을 포함한 림프증식성질환 그리고 모양세포성 백혈병 등이 있다. 또한 동종 골수이식을 받은 환자에서도 결핵은 증가한다고 알려져있다. Kaplan 등은 골수구성 백혈병 환자에서 결핵 발생이 증가한다고 보고하였다. 그러나 골수구성 백혈병 환자에서 결핵의 발생이 증가하는 이유에 대해서는 아직까지 정확하게 밝혀지지 않았다. 저자들이 2년 동안 후향적으로 조사한 180명의 성인 골수구성 백혈병 환자들 가운데 결핵이 발생한 환자는 4명이었고, 발생 부위는 모두 림프절이었다. 결핵은 골수구성 백혈병의 특정 아형에만 국한되어 발생하지 않았지만, 50%에서 FAB 분류에 의한 M4였다. 림프절이 종대된 골수구성 백혈병 환자에서 특히, 결핵의 유병율이 높은 나라에서는 결핵성 림프절염도 감별진단에 포함시켜야 한다. During the neutropenic phase, leukemia patients receiving chemotherapy are prone to bacterial and, fungal infections; occasionally mycobacterial, viral and protozoal organisms may also cause infections. Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection was reported very rarely in these patients. This report describes four patients with M. tuberculosis infection identified from 185 adult patients who were diagnosed myelogenous leukemia between January 2003, and December 2004. There was no patient with M. tuberculosis infection from 44 lymphoid leukemia and 11 acute biphenotypic leukemia patients. Sites of infection were all lymph nodes. Three among four patients were presented with lymphadenopathy at initial diagnosis of leukemia, and the other one presented with lymphadenopathy after induction chemotherapy. There was no patient presented with lymphadenopathy during the neutropenic phase. Tuberculous lymphadenitis was presented in a patient with three acute myelogenous leukemia (FAB class 2 M4, 1 M2) and a chronic myelogenous leukemia, accelerated phase. An acute myelogenous leukemia patient had a leukemic cell and tubercle bacilli in the same lymph node. Tuberculosis should also be included as a differential diagnosis in myelogenous leukemia patient with lymphadenopathy, especially in the countries in which the disease is endemic.

        This paper deals with the vibration and noise characteristics of three different kinds of pipe structures (PVC pipe, cast-iron pipe and newly developed pp pipe). In order to measure the structure born noise, an impact force generated by dropping a small ball was applied to three different kinds of pipes. It was confirmed that the structure born noise could be reduced by employing a high damping material. Also, transmission loss of a pipe was investigated for various frequency ranges by using a speaker as a sound source.

        The paper deals with stress and deflection analyses for newly developed PP-pipe structures of LG-Caltex company. In order to calculate the values of stress and deflection, the elements of pipes and its hanger supports are discretized. Through the numerical simulations using commercial FEM code, stresses and deflections of pipes with two or more hanger supports are obtained, and the stability of pipes are checked. Finally, optimal numbers of hanger supports satisfying allowable bending stress is proposed.

        Effect of Gamma-Irradiation on the Molecular Properties of Blood Plasma Proteins

        Blood products from slaughterhouses that are not hygienically prepared for disposal or food consumption pose a human health hazard. Gamma irradiation is an effective method for sterilization of blood products, but may introduce changes in the molecular characteristics of proteins. This study evaluated the effects of irradiation on animal plasma proteins. Bovine and porcine blood was obtained from a slaughterhouse and the plasma proteins purified and lyophilized. The secondary structure and molecular weight distribution of the plasma protein solutions and powders were examined after ${\gamma}$-irradiation at 1, 5, 7 and 10 kGy. Gamma-irradiation affected the molecular properties of the protein solutions, but not the protein powders. Circular dichroism and sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis studies showed that increased doses of ${\gamma}$-irradiation decrease the ordered structure of plasma proteins in solution, and cause initial fragmentation of the polypeptide chains and subsequent aggregation.

        Effect of r-Irradiation on the Molecular Properties of Bovine Serum Albumin and B-Lcatoglobulin

        To elucidate the effect of oxygen radicals on the molecular properties of proteins, the secondary and tertiary structure and molecular weight size of BSA and β-lactoglobulin were examined after irradiation of proteins at various doses. Gamma-irradiation of protein solutions caused the disruption of the ordered structure of protein molecules as well as degradation, cross-linking, and aggregation of the polypeptide chains. As a model system, BSA and β-lactoglobulin were used as a typical α-helical and a β-sheet structure protein, respectively. A circular dichroism study showed that the increase of radiation decreased the ordered structure of proteins with a concurrent increase of aperiodic structure content. Fluorescence spectroscopy indicated that irradiation quenched the emission intensity excited at 280nm. SDS-PAGE and a gel permeation chromatography study indicated that radiation caused initial fragmentation of proteins resulting in a subsequent aggregation due to cross-linking of protein molecules.
