여드름 환자 말초혈액 호중구의 Propionibacterium Acnes 세포질액항원에 대한 화학주성에 관한 연구

The present study was carried out to investigate the mechanism of inflammatory reaction of the acne lesions by accessing the chemotactic activity of the peripheral neutophils in the 27 acne patients to the cytosol antigens of propionbacterium acnes (P. acnes). The cytosol antigen was prepared from P. acnes by passing 3 times through a French Pressure Cell Press at 18,000 p.s.i and differrential centrifugation. The antigen was diluted and adjusted to the concentration of 40 ㎍ protein/㎖. The chemotactic activity was evaluated by modified microfilter method with blind well chamber of Boyden and was analyzed in the respects to the kinds and the numbers of the acne lesions. The resfults were summarized as follows; 1) The chemotactic activity of the peripheral neutrophils was markedly increased in the patient group with inflammatory lesions as compared to the group with noninflammatory lesions. 2) The chemotactic activity of the peripheral neutrophils was not related to the numbers on the acne lesions of the patients.

수두 피부병변에 대한 재조합 알파 인테페론 연고의 치료 효과에 관한 연구

This clinical study was carried out to evaluate therapeutic effect of the recombinant interferonalpha (IFN-α) cream in the treatment of the varicella skin lesion. The IFN-α and placebo creams were topically applied 2 times a day on the early erythematous maculo-papular lesions and the already advanced vesicular lesions of the 52 patients with varicella. The therapeutic efect was evaluated by comparing the healing periods, namely, the mean number of days required for the disappearance of the erythematous maculo-papular lesions without vesicular formation or for the crust formation through vesicular changes. The results were summarized as follows; 1) For the early erythematous maculopapular lesions, the healing periods of the IFN-α and the placebo creams were 3.05±2.76 and 4.72±3.48 days, respectively (p < 0.005). 2) For the advanced vesicular lesions, the healing periods of the IFN-α and placebo creams were 3.52±2.47 and 4.48±3.01 days, respectively (p < 0.05). During the study, and local or general side reactions were not observed. Therefore, with above results, it is suggested that topical IFN-α cream may be an effective and safe therapeutic agent for the treatment of varicella, especially in the case of the early erythematous maculo-papular lesions.

The present study was carried out to investigate the mechanism of inflammtion and tissue injury in Behcet's disease. The generation of O₂(-) was assessed by superoxide dismutase inhibitable cytochromec reduction method. The O₂(-) generation activity was expressed as nanomoles of cytochrome c reduced per 1×10^(6) neutrophils. The O₂(-)generation activity of peripheral blood neutrophils of the patients was compared to that of healthy controls, and was analyzed in the respect of clinical severity, exacerbation and improvement, pathergy reaction, and tetracycline treatment for oral ulcer. The results were summarized as follows : 1. The O₂(-) generation activity of neutrophils in Behcet's disease was markedly increased as compared with that of healthy controls. 2. In the patient group with severe clinical symptoms, exacerbated clinical course and positive pathergy reaction, the O₂(-) generation activity of neutrophils was increased. 3. The O₂(-) generation activity of neutrophils was markedly decreased in the patient group treated with tetracycline for oral ulcer.

Vidarabine-5'-Monophosphate로 治療된 白血病患者의 再發生 播種性 單純疱疹

Infections with Herpes :simplex virus in normal hosts are usually brief, se1f;limited episodes n-ith little need for antiviral therapy. However, immunocompromised hoste or neonates often develop progressive mucocutaneous infections in which painful intraoral, labial, or facial lesions may persist for weeks or monthsand sometimes are complicated by esophagitjs, tracheobron chitis and encephalitis. In these cases, vigorous systemic antiviral chemotherapy is indicated. A case of disseminated Herpes simplex in a 38-year-old male leukemic patient is reported..The herpetic skin lesions, which had rapidly spread over the face, neck, anterior chest, back acd buttocks, were successfully treated with intravenous dripping of vidarabine-5/-monopbosph-zte, 1,000 mg a day, for 5 days. About 3 months later, the skin lesions recurred and were treated successfully with vidarabine4/-monophosphate again. KO obvious side-effects of vidarakhe-3'-rnonophosphate were obserired during and after the treatnimt. A brief discussion on systemic antiviral chemotherapy was also done.

慢性肝疾患 患者 및 正常人의 卽時採血 末梢血液에서의 Vibrio vulnificus生長에 關한 比較 硏究

The present study was carried out to investigate the host factors which might have influences on the development of V. vulnificus septicemia. V. vulnificus was inoculated into the fresh peripheral blood of the chronic liver disease patients and healthy persons. The growth was calculated by colony count method at 60, 120 and 240 minutes, respectively. The colony counts of V. vulnificus were analyzed and compared to the laboratory data and clinical findings of the chronic liver disease patients. The results were summerized as follows; 1. The growth of V. vulnificus was markedly increased in the patients with decreased serum concentration of albumin, complement C₃ and decreased prothrombin activity. 2. Increased serum level of IgG, IgA and IgM of the patients facilitated the growth of V. vulnificus. 3. The growth of V. vulnificus was not significantly related to the serum concentration of complement C₄, iron and alkaline phosphatase level. 4. In the patient group complicated with the liver cirrhosis, poorly controlled ascites and hepatic encephalopathy, the growth of V. vulnificus was highly increased.

Albright 증후군

Albright's syndrome consists of large pigmented macules of the skin and fibrodysplasia of the bones. The full syndrome with precocious puberty occurs particularly in girls. Other endocrinopathies including Cushing syndrome, hyperthyroidism and acromegaly can be accompanied. A case of Albright's syndrome is reported. The patient was a 4-year-old male child, who was born with multiple, dark brownish, irregularly bordered macules on the trunk and extremities. Deformities of facial skeleton and limping gait were noticed at the age of 2 years. He had pathological fractures twice, at the age of 3 and 4 y ears, respectively, due to fibrodysplasia of both femur bones. Especially, involvement of the sphenoid bones caused compression of the optic nerves and diminished vision of both eyes. On radiologic examinations, polyostotic fibrous dysplasia were noticed on the humerus, scapula, femur, tibia, fibula, pelvis, vertebra and skull base. The level of alkaline phosphatase was highly elevated.

재발성 피하 평활근육종 1예

We describe a case of subcutaneous leiomyosarcoma on the right lower abdomen of 47-year-old female who had experienced a recurrence 4 times in spite of wide surgical removal. Considering the tumor site, we could not exclude completely our case from the possibility of the relationship to a retroperitoneal leiomyosarcoma.
