      • 후두 및 하인두 암종에서 p53단백 발현과 Espstein-Barr Virus 검출

        Background and Objectives : When p53 cancer suppressor gene, occurs gene deletion or point mutation, malignancy develops by loss of p53 function with abnormal p53 protein. The Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is the causative agent of certain type of lymphoma and undifferentiated nasopharyngeal carcinoma. However, the role of EBV as a causative factor in other head &eck tumors is not fully elucidated except nasopharyngeal carcinoma. This study, the author examined that p53 expression and detection rate of EBV correlate to development of laryngeal and hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma(SCC) and play the possible role of prognostic indicators. Materials and Methods : Formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissue specimen from 32 cases of larynx and hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas were studied by immunohistochemical staining for p53 and EBV. The results of analysis were compared with clinicopathological parameters. Results : p53 expression was 56.3% (18 cases) and the detection rate of EBV was 43.6% (14 cases) of 32 cases in laryngeal and hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinomas. p53 expression was correlate with histologic grade (p<05) only. Detection of EBV was not correlate with clinicopathological parmeters. Conclusion : These results suggest p53 expression and the detection of EBV may be related with development of laryngeal and hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma. And, the expression of p53 protein can be used as a prognosticator in laryngeal and hypopharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma under certain limitation.

      • 수중의 영양염류 제거를 위한 세라믹 소재 개발

        본 연구는 수중에 용해된 인과 질소 제거효과를 갖는 세라믹소재를 개발하기 위하여 수행되었다. 감람석을 이용한 인의 제거효과는 “이”와 “최”의 연구에서 수행된바 있으며, 제올라이트를 이용한 질소제거에 관한 연구는 국내외적으로 많이 수행되어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 감람석(Olivine)과 제올라이트(Zeolite)를 서로 다른 부피 혼합비에 따라 혼합한 후 소성하여 얻어진 세라믹을 이용하여 수중에 용해된 총인(Total-Phosphorus)과 총질소(Total-Nitrogen)의 제거효과를 회분식 실험(batch reactor system)을 통해 분석하였다. 연구결과 총인의 경우 감람석과 제올라이트의 부피 혼합비가 1:2의 경우 최고의 제거효율을 보였으며, 시험개시 30분 일 때 96.0%, 4시간일 때 95.1% 의 인이 제거되었다. 총질소의 경우 감람석과 제올라이트가 1:6일 때 시험개시 30분일 때 93.6%, 4시간일 때 97.4%의 질소가 제거되었다. This study was performed to develop ceramic material to be able to eliminate phosphorus and nitrogen in water. Olivine was found to remove phosphorus in aqueous phase, which was demonstrated by Lee and Choi.1) The nitrogen removal using zeolite has been demonstrated by many researchers.2,3) Hence, utilization of mixed-typed material of Olivine and Zeolite is expected to achieve simultaneous elimination of phosphorus and nitrogen in water. In this study, the removal efficiencies of T-P(Total phosphorus) and T-N(Total nitrogen) were investigated using ceramic material in batch reactor system, which was produced by incinerating after mixing Olivine and Zeolite with different ratio. The highest removal efficiency of phosphorus was achieved under the condition of 1: 2 mixing volume ratio of Olivine to Zeolite. The phosphorus of 93.6% and 97.4% (as T-P) was removed for 0.5hr and 4hr, respectively. For the nitrogen, the nitrogen removal efficiencies of 93.6% and 97.4% (as T-N) were obtained under the condition of 1:6 mixing volume ratio of Olivine and Zeolite.

        Molecular subtypes of triple-negative breast cancer: understanding of subtype categories and clinical implication

        Background: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) is a heterogeneous entity that encompasses several subtypes with distinct molecular characteristics. The patients with TNBCs show unpredictable response to the chemotherapy, and further there is the lack of effective agents. Thus, many studies have been underway to discover targeted therapy suitable for patients with specific genetic alterations in each molecular subtypes. TNBCs are classified as four major molecular subtypes according to the gene expression patterns. These are luminal androgen receptor (LAR), mesenchymal-like, immunomodulatory (IM), and basal-like types. Conclusion: Here, we discuss the unique molecular features of each subtype as well as promising targets for anti-cancer therapy.

      • 새로운 Acetylcholinesterase inhibitors의 합성

        노인성 치매의 일종인 alzheimer's disease의 효과적인 억제제를 합성하기 위해 우리는 분자 모델링에 의한 가장 적합한 물질인 m-[(N,N,N-trimethylammonio)phenyl]boronic acid를 합성하였다. 출발물질인 3-aminophenylboronic acid monohydrate의 경우 boronic acid의 작용기인 hydroxyl group을 protecting시킴으로써 반응의 안정성을 기하였다. Quarternary ammonium salt는 과량의 methyliodide와 염기 촉매인 potassium hydrogen carbonate를 사용하여 용매인 methanol에서 반응시켜 상당히 높은 수율을 얻을 수 있었다. 또한 과량의 methyliodide와 염기촉매인 potassium hydrogen carbonate를 사용하여 용매인 methanol에서 반응시킨 결과 boronic acid의 protection없이도 안정하게 반응이 진행되어짐을 확인할 수 있었다. In order to syntheisize a effective inhibotor for alzheimer's disease, we synthesized m-[(N,N,N-trimethylammonio)phenyl]boronic acid 4 which is designed by molecular modeling form. We protected the hydroxyl group of 3-aminophenylboronic acid monohydrate 1 with ethlyne glycol to remove the reactivity if hydroxyl group. To synthesize m-[(N,N,N-trimethylammonio)phenyl]boronic acid 4, we reacted 3-aminophenylboronic acid monohydrate 1 with ezcess methyl iodide and potassium hydrogen carbonate as a base-catalyst in methanol. but On executed reaction without protection on hydroxyl group, we found out the result that the hydroxyl group of boronic acid group at 3-aminophenylboronic acid monohydrate 1 didn't react with excess methyliodide. Synthesized m-[(N,N,N-trimethylammonio)phenyl]boronic acid 4 is in progress about biological tests as a plausible acetylcholinesterase inhibitor.

        다래나무 및 노각나무 수액의 성분조성

        본 실험에서는 다래나무 및 노각나무 수액을 천연 건강음료로 개발하기 위한 기초 자료를 얻고져 물리ㆍ화학적 성질과 유리당, 무기물 및 구성 아미노산 등을 분석하였다. 다래나무와 노각나무 수액의 pH, 비중, 당도, 수분, 회분 및 조단백질의 함량은 거의 비슷하였다. 유리당 함량은 fructose가 다래나무 수액에서 378.4㎎/100㎖, glucose는 노각나무 수액에서 125.4㎎/100㎖로 가장 높은 함량이었다. 무기물 조성은 망간과 알루미늄을 제외한 모든 무기물에서 노각나무 수액에 비해 다래나무 수액에서 함량이 높았으며 특히 칼슘은 다래나무 수액이 172.0㎎/ℓ, 노각나무 수액에서 13.7㎎/ℓ로 다래나무 수액이 노각나무 수액보다 약 13배나 높은 함량을 보였다. 다래나무 및 노각나무 수액은 분석된 총 17종의 구성 아미노산 중 다래나무 수액은 4종, 노각나무 수액에서는 6종이 검출되었는데, 다래나무 수액은 cystine, aspartic acid, serine 그리고 valine의 순으로 노각나무 수액에서는 cystine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid, serine, valine 및 phenylalanine 등의 순으로 함량이 높게 나타났다. Natural compounds such as free sugars, minerals and composition amino acids in Darae(Actinidia arguta) and Korean stewartia(Stewartia koreana) saps were analyzed to establish to the basic data of foods. Free sugars of the saps determined were fructose and glucose which were detected higher amounts as 378.4 and 125.4㎎/100㎖, respectively, but sucrose and maltose were not detected. Among 10 kinds of mineral detected in the saps, the content of calcium in Darae and aluminum in the Korean stewartia saps was the highest 172.0 and 56.1㎎/ℓ, respectively. The calcium content in Darae saps was 13 times higher than that of Korean stewartia saps. The Darae saps were composed of 4 kinds of amino acids such as cystine, aspartic acid, serine and valine, and then Korean stewartia saps 6 kinds of amino acids such as cystine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid, serine, valine and phenylalanine. It is concluded that saps of Darae and Korean stewartia contain a good variety of natural compounds such as free sugars, minerals and amino acids to serve as an excellent source of very natural and health promoting drinks.

        양극산화와 절연파괴로 형성한 인산칼슘 함유 티타늄 산화피막의 특성

        This study was performed to investigate the surface properties of electrochemically oxidized pure titanium by anodic spark deposition technique. Titanium plates of 10×10×1 ㎜ were polished sequentially from # 300 to # 1,000 emery paper. They were ultrasonically washed in ethyl alcohol and acetone for 5 min and dried in a desiccator. Titanium plates and titanium screw implants were anodized in an electrolytic solution that was dissolved calcium and phosphate in water. The electrolytic voltage was set in the range of 190-340 V and the current density was 30 ㎃/㎠. The surface oxide film was characterized by X-ray deffractometer(XRD), scanning electron microscope(SEM) and X-ray photoemission spectroscopy(XPS). The main crystal structure of the titanium oxide was anatase type as analyzed with thin-film X-ray diffractometery. The diameter of micropores increased with increasing the spark forming voltage. The porous coatings showed the growth of cell structure and more compact texture with increasing the spark forming voltage. Microcracks were examined in the coating formed at voltage of 340 V. Ca/P ratio in coatings was increased with increasing the voltage.

      • 당뇨병 환자의 사례관리 실시 전후 혈당 및 자가관리 이행수준 변화

        Background : Diabetes mellitus is one of the common chronic disease in Korea. As most chronic diseases need continuous cares and behavioral controls, one of the effective managements for diabetes is maintenance healthy life style which is based on correct medical knowledge. So, we conducted this study to assess change of blood sugar levels and self-management behavior of diabetic patients following the case-management program enforced by National Health Insurance Corporation (NHIC). Methods : We conducted this study during the period from January 2006 to December 2006, 29 case managers performed the case management program for 672 diabetic patients in the districts of Busan, Woolsan, and Gyeongnam. We evaluated the effectiveness of the case management program based on the changes of blood sugar level, knowledge for diabetes and self-management behavior of diabetic patients. Data analysis was performed with t-test, paired t-test, McNemar X2-test and correlation analysis using SPSS program(ver 12.0). Results : After the case management program, smoking rate was reduced from 22.3% to 21.4% and exercise rate was increased from 65.0% to 80.2%(p<0.05). The knowledge standard of diabetics on 10-point scale revealed considerable increase from 6.05 before the management to 8.69 after the case management(p<0.05). All of diabetic self-management behaviors including nutrition management, self-test on blood sugar level, foot care, oral care and diabetic medication showed considerable improvement; the overall behavioral change, on a 5-point scale, improved from 3.25 to 3.75(p<0.05). The FBS level was improved from 138.4mg/dl to 131.5mg/dl and the blood sugar level 2 hours after a meal was improved from 203.7mg/dl to 183.5mg/dl(p<0.05). Conclusion : From the above results, we concluded that the case management program enforced by the NHIC showed positive behavioral changes on smoking and exercise, increased knowledge about diabetes as well as the level of nutrition management and also demonstrated decline of blood sugar levels. So, we need research of customized information for every patients rather than generally summarized information on diabetes and a self-dependent group formations for sustaining improved self-management after case management as well as development of education and training programs for case managers.

        게임 제작 도구의 핵심 구성 요소가 되는 클래스 라이브러리 개발을 위해 게임 객체와 수 있는 클래스 분류방법이 필요하다.클래스 분류방법에는 Enumerative 분류 방법과 클러스터링 방법을 적용한다.본 논문에선 클래스의 시공간 개념 분석을 하고 유사도 값에 의한 클러스터링을 한다.유사도 값에 의한 클래스 클러스터링이 게임 클래스 객체들의 행위들을분류할 카테고리에 없는 경우 Enumerative분류 방법을 하여 게임 클래스 라이브러리를 연구하였다.

      • FCL(5-FU, Carboplatin, Leucovorin) 항암 화학요법에서 Gm-CSF의 효과

        Background: One of the major side effects of cancer chemotherapy is myelosuppression. Neutropenia and/or thrombocytopenia are dose-limiting factors in chemotherapy. Colony-stimulating factor induces proliferation and functional maturation of hematopoietic progenitor cells. GM-CSF is primarily active on progenitor cells of granulocytic and monocytic lineage. Methods: Fifteen patients with histologically proven malignancy diagnosed at Chungnam National University Hospital from January 1993 to August 1995 were included in this study. We could evaluate the clinical efficacy of GM-CSF in 13 patients undergoing FCL(5-FU, Carboplatin and Leucovorin) chemotherapy; the first cycles involved no GM-CSF while the second cycles involved GM-CSF on day 6 through 15 of chemotherapy. Results: 1) The subjects were fifteen patients in all, there were five patients with head and neck cancer, which was the most common types of maligancy. There were four patients with colon cancer, two patients with stomach cancer, and one patient with breast cancer, gallbladder cancer, cervix cancer and cholangiocarcinoma respectively, two patients, who did not complete two cycles of chemotherapy were excluded. 2) Age distribution was from 38 years to 78 years with a median age of 57. 3) In FCL chemotherapy cycles with GM-CSF, the duration of neutropenia(<500/μL) was 0.5±0.3 day, while FCL chemotherapy cycles without GM-CSF, it was 2.9±0.7 day(P=0.008). 3) There was no significant difference in platelet count between the two chemotherapy cycles(P=0.133). 4) Febrile duration without GM-CSF was 4.9±2.1 day, but with GM-CSF the duration was 1.3±0.7 day, which was significantly different(P=0.003). The duration of antibiotics use with GM-CSF was 1.7±1.2 day and without GM-CSF was 6.8±3.2 day, also significantly different(P=0.002). But hospital stay between the two cycles were not significantly different(P=0.064). Conclusion: GM-CSF was effective in preventing or restoring bone marrow depression after FCL chemotherapy.
