Structure and electrochemical applications of boron-doped graphitized carbon nanofibers

<P>Boron-doped graphitized carbon nanofibers (CNFs) were prepared by optimizing CNFs preparation, surface treatment, graphitization and boron-added graphitization. The interlayer spacing (d<SUB>002</SUB>) of the boron-doped graphitized CNFs reached 3.356 Å, similar to that of single-crystal graphite. Special platelet CNFs (PCNFs), for which d<SUB>002</SUB> is less than 3.400 Å, were selected for further heat treatment. The first heat treatment of PCNFs at 2800 °C yielded a d<SUB>002</SUB> between 3.357 and 3.365 Å. Successive nitric acid treatment and a second heat treatment with boric acid reduced d<SUB>002</SUB> to 3.356 Å. The resulting boron-doped PCNFs exhibited a high discharge capacity of 338 mAh g<SUP>−1</SUP> between 0 and 0.5 V versus Li/Li<SUP>+</SUP> and 368 mAh g<SUP>−1</SUP> between 0 and 1.5 V versus Li/Li<SUP>+</SUP>. The first-cycle Coulombic efficiency was also enhanced to 71–80%. Such capacity is comparable to that of natural graphite under the same charge/discharge conditions. The boron-doped PCNFs also exhibited improved rate performance with twice the capacity of boron-doped natural graphite at a discharge rate of 5 C. </P>

본 논문에서는 공간적 일관성과 시간적 일관성을 모두 고려하는 그래프 컷 (graph cuts, GC) 알고리즘을 적용한 새로운 비디오 정합(video stitching) 방법을 제안한다. 먼저 입력 비디오로부터 취득한 전체 프레임에 대해서 정렬 (frame alignment) 작업이 완료된 후, 프레임 합성 (frame composition) 을 위한 정합선 찾기 (seam finding) 과정을 진행한다. 정합선을 찾는 과정에서 개선된 그래프 컷 알고리즘을 이용해 정렬된 프레임들을 자연스럽게 합성할 수 있는 최적의 정합선을 찾는다. 우선, 첫번째 입력 프레임에서 찾은 최적 정합선을 참조 정합선으로 설정한다. 그 다음,연속된 프레임들의 정합선 찾기 과정을 수행할 때, 참조 정합선과의 거리 값을 가중치로 이용하는 새로운 비용 함수를 적용한다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 알고리즘으로 찾은 최적 정합선은 입력 프레임의 중첩 영역에 움직이는 물체가 존재할 때, 물체의 모양을 손상시키지 않으면서 동시에 연속된 프레임의 정합선을 유사한 형태로 유지시킨다. 결과적으로 공간적, 시간적 자연스러움이 보장되는 고품질의 비디오 정합 결과를 얻을 수 있다.
Choroid Melanoma Metastasis to Lumbar Spine: A Case Report

A 57-year-old woman visited our hospital with left flank pain and left anterior thigh and calf radiation pain. A lumbar spine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was showed that a heterogenous enhancing ventral epidural mass compressed the dura posteriorly at L3 level and totally enhanced L3 vertebral body. To reduce pain, L3 laminectomy, left facetectomy, and partial tumor removal with posterior pedicle screw fixation were performed. On examination, the tumor was soft and black-colored. After the operation, histopathological assessment confirmed malignant melanoma. The patient had a history of choroid malignant melanoma of the right eye diagnosed 8 years previously. The patient underwent treatment at another hospital and achieved complete remission after 5 years. As follow-up was not performed, the metastasis was not detected earlier. To our knowledge, this is the first report of the lumbar spine as the main lesion location without thoracic or cervical spine symptoms.

Objectives : This report was performed to evaluated the treatment of Bee venom acupuncture Therapy, acupuncture Therapy, Herbal medicaion and Moxibustion in herniation of inter-vertebral disc. Methods : We treated 1 case of herniation of inter-vertebral disc with Bee venom acupuncture Therapy, acupuncture Therapy, Herbal medicaion and Moxibustion Results : After 12 days of Bee venom acupuncture Therapy, acupuncture Therapy, Herbal medicaion and Moxibustion, a remarkable improvement was made for herniation of inter-vertebral disc. The patient couldn t feel pain on walking. Conclusion : Bee venom acupuncture Therapy, acupuncture Therapy, Herbal medicaion and Moxibustion were effective in reducing the symptoms.

Objective: Women who give birth at 35 years of age or older are generally referred to advanced maternal age (AMA), which is risk factors for various kinds of complication besides genetic changes in fetus. The primary outcome is to determine if AMA is associated with emergent cesarean delivery (CD) following induction of labor (IOL). The secondary outcomes were a composite of adverse maternal and perinatal events following IOL. Methods: This was a retrospective observational study of singleton, vertex-presenting non-anomalous pregnancy from 37 0/7 to 41 6/7 weeks of gestation who were delivered following IOL in uncomplicated nulliparous women. After IOL, outcomes in women with AMA were compared with women < 35 years. Results: A total of 314 nulliparous women were attempted IOL (≥ 35 years n=73, 23.2%; < 35 years n=257, 81.8%) and among them, 257 (81.8%) delivered vaginally. The rate of CD was significantly higher in women with AMA (31.5% vs. 14.1%, p=0.001). Multivariable analysis showed that AMA was an independently associated with CD (OR 2.98, 95% CI 1.56-5.71, p=0.001). The rate of instrumental deliveries and the blood loss during the delivery were similar between the two groups (13.7% vs. 7.9%, 1.97±1.32 vs. 1.86±1.25 mg/dl, respectively, all p > 0.05). Regarding neonatal outcomes, there was no different between the two groups in NICU admission rate and Apgar score < 7 at 5 minute (38.4% vs. 31.5%, 12.3% vs. 7.6%, respectively, all p > 0.005). Conclusion: Following IOL, AMA was associated with a more than three-fold increased likelihood of birth by CD in nulliparous women. We found, however, no evidence that induced labor in elderly primigravida increases adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes as compared with women < 35 years.
Purification and Characterization of Helicobacter pylori ${\gamma}$-Glutamyltranspeptidase

Gamma-glutamyltranspeptidase (GGT) was purified to electrophoretic homogeneity from the cell extract of H. pylori. The purified enzyme consisted of heavy and light subunits with molecular weights of 38 kDa and 21 kDa, respectively. N-terminal amino acid sequence of heavy and light subunits revealed that H. pylori GGT was processed into 3 parts for a signal peptide of 27 amino acid residues, a heavy subunit of 352 residues, and a light subunit of 188 residues during translation. The reaction rate for hydrolysis of ${\gamma}$-GpNA was 84.4 ${\mu}mol/min$ per milligram of protein, and that for the ${\gamma}$-glutamyl transfer from ${\gamma}$-GpNA to gly-gly was 23.8 ${\mu}mol/min$ per milligram of protein. The apparent Km values of H. pylori GGT for ${\gamma}$-glutamyl compounds were on the order of $10^{-3}$ to $10^{-4}$ M and those for acceptor peptides and amino acids were on the order of $10^{-1}$ to $10^{-2}$ M. The GGT protein kept approximately 80% of the initial enzymatic activity on incubation at $60^{\circ}C$ for 15 min. The optimum temperature and pH for reactions of both hydrolysis and transpeptidation were $40^{\circ}C$ and 9.0, respectively. The transpeptidation and hydrolysis reactions catalyzed by H. pylori GGT were strongly inhibited by L-Gln and moderately inhibited by L-Ala, L-Ser, ${\beta}$-chloro-L-Ala, and L-Glu. These results demonstrated that the biochemical properties of H. pylori GGT are different from those of other bacterial GGTs. Further, H. pylori GGT might degrade glutathione in the gastric mucous layer of humans if the enzyme could be secreted in the bacterial niches.
