Lactococcus garvieae is a major pathogen in aquaculture. It was a rare pathogen with low virulence for human and is considered as an opportunist. We have experienced a case of L. garvieae bacteremia after the ingestion of ascidains in an elderly patient. A 76-year-old woman was admitted with watery diarrhea and abdominal pain for 2 days. She visited to the market for fresh sea product and ingested ascidians 3 days before admission. Sigmoidoscopy revealed diffuse edematous and hyperemic mucosa from the descending colon to the rectum. Two sets of blood cultures were taken before the use of antibiotics and an empiric antibiotics with Piperacillin/tazobactam was started. After 72h of incubation, the blood cultures showed the growth of L. garvieae and empirical antibiotics was replaced by Ampicillin/sulbactam. Transthoracic echocardiogram was performed to evaluate the infective endocarditis, but it showed normal heart valves without any vegetation. Ampicillin/sulbactam was continued for an additional 7 days. The patient was recovered and discharged with oral amoxicillin/ clavulanic acid on the 12thday after admission. We report a rare case of L. garvieae bacteremia with infectious colitis related with the ingestion of sea food. The ingestion of contaminated sea food was the most probable source of L. garvieae infections.

We present a case of a 65-year-old man with psoriasis who developed autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) without receiving immunosuppressive therapy with either anti-tumor necrosis factor-α or methotrexate. The AIH had completely resolved at 2 months after prednisolone and azathioprine therapy. This case confirms the need to consider AIH in psoriasis patients who experience new elevations in liver enzymes. To our knowledge, this is first description of the development of AIH in an immunosuppressant-naive patient with psoriasis. (Clin Mol Hepatol 2017;23:184-187)

<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>Photo-induced activation of peroxymonosulfate (PMS) has been enabled by either the direct photolysis of the peroxide bond or the semiconductor bandgap-excited photocatalysis. Whereas the existing approaches utilize UV light, this study first studied the utilization of visible light for the PMS activation in which the dual roles of PMS as a complexing ligand on TiO2 and a precursor of sulfate radical (SO4 −) are enabled via ligand-to-metal charge transfer (LMCT) mechanism. In this LMCT-mediated photocatalysis, PMS coordinated to TiO2 as a surface complex is photoexcited by visible light to inject electrons to the CB of TiO2, which subsequently activate PMS to yield SO4 −. Despite the lack of visible light activity of both TiO2 and PMS, the addition of PMS induced a significant degradation of 4-chlorophenol and dichloroacetate on TiO2 under visible light irradiation. Together with several spectroscopic analyses, the result revealed the formation of an interfacial charge transfer (CT) complex of PMS on TiO2 and the LMCT-mediated PMS conversion into SO4 −. Multi-activity assessment showed that the oxidizing capacity of TiO2/PMS varied depending on the substrate type; benzoic acid and acetaminophen were rapidly decomposed whereas nitrophenol oxidation was insignificant. The role of SO4 − as the main oxidant was identified based on (1) quenching effect of methanol as a radical quencher, (2) coumarin hydroxylation as an indication of SO4 − formation, and (3) EPR spin-trapping technique. The comparison of TiO2/PMS <I>versus</I> Co3O4/PMS suggested that the repeated acetaminophen decay was achievable with TiO2/PMS without the loss of activating capacity whereas a gradual reduction in degradation efficiency was observed with Co3O4/PMS.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> PMS serves as a complexing ligand and a radical precursor in the activation process. </LI> <LI> Visible light irradiation activates PMS on TiO2 via ligand-to-metal charge transfer. </LI> <LI> The TiO2/PMS/visible light system shows catalytic performance in organic oxidation. </LI> </UL> </P> <P><B>Graphical abstract</B></P> <P>[DISPLAY OMISSION]</P>

<P>Ammonia borane (AB) is a hydrogen storage material which can produce three equivalent moles of H2gas by a hydrolytic decomposition reaction in the presence of an appropriate catalyst. The photocatalytic H2generation from AB decomposition was studied by utilizing the Au/TiO2plasmonic photocatalyst under both visible and UV light conditions. Different amounts of gold (0.5, 1, 2, and 3%) were photo-deposited on TiO2(anatase) to prepare Au/TiO2catalysts. Au(1 wt%)/TiO2showed the highest activity of H2generation under visible light and a further increase of Au loading reduced the activity. Although LSPR (localized surface plasmon resonance) excitation should increase with gold nanoparticle (Au NP) loading, excessive Au loading also facilitates the recombination of LSPR charge pairs. The time-resolved photoluminescence (TRPL) decay spectra of Au/TiO2clearly showed that the recombination rate of LSPR charge pairs is accelerated at higher Au loading. As a result, the photocatalytic activity of Au/TiO2was optimized at 1 wt% Au loading to produce 88 μmol of H2in 4 h. However, such an optimized level of Au loading was not observed under UV light irradiation conditions and the UV photocatalytic production of H2increased with the Au loading up to 3% because higher Au loading facilitates the separation of charge pairs and accumulation of electrons in Au NPs through the Schottky barrier. These two different electron transfer behaviors (accumulation and recombination) can be further confirmed by the Cr(vi) reduction experiments since they showed a similar trend of photocatalytic activity with Au loading. This research provides a fundamental understanding for optimizing the photocatalytic activity of various metal-metal oxide heterojunction photocatalysts.</P>
A Far-ultraviolet Fluorescent Molecular Hydrogen Emission Map of the Milky Way Galaxy
Jo, Young-Soo,Seon, Kwang-Il,Min, Kyoung-Wook,Edelstein, Jerry,Han, Wonyong American Astronomical Society 2017 The Astrophysical journal Supplement series Vol.231 No.2
<P>We present the far-ultraviolet (FUV) fluorescent molecular hydrogen (H-2) emission map of the Milky Way Galaxy obtained with FIMS/SPEAR covering similar to 76% of the sky. The extinction-corrected intensity of the fluorescent H-2 emission has a strong linear correlation with the well-known tracers of the cold interstellar medium (ISM), including color excess E(B-V), neutral hydrogen column density N(H I), and H alpha emission. The all-sky H-2 column density map was also obtained using a simple photodissociation region model and interstellar radiation fields derived from UV star catalogs. We estimated the fraction of H-2 (f(H2)) and the gas-to-dust ratio (GDR) of the diffuse ISM. The f(H2) gradually increases from <1% at optically thin regions where E(B-V) <0.1 to similar to 50% for E (B-V) = 3. The estimated GDR is similar to 5.1 x 10(21) atoms cm(-2) mag(-1), in agreement with the standard value of 5.8 x 10(21) atoms cm(-2) mag(-1).</P>
LIGHT CURVE ANALYSIS OF CW CEPHEI
YIM Jo RYEONG,KIM CHUN-HWEY,HAN WONYONG The Korean Astronomical Society 1996 Journal of The Korean Astronomical Society Vol.29 No.suppl1
The UBV observations of the close binary system CW Cephei were made from August 198:3 to December 1984 during 25 nights using the 61cm Boller and Chivens reflector at the Sobaeksan Astronomy Observatory. The new UBV light curves were analyzed with the recent Wilson-Devinney binary model. Our photometric solution for CW Cep were well consistent with those of Clausen &. Gimenez (1991). Using our photometric solution and Popper & Hill (1991) spectroscopic one, each absolute masses and radii of components for CW Cep were derived as 13.63 M$\bigodot$ and 5.83 R$\bigodot$ for the primary, and 12.18 M$\bigodot$ and 5.14 R$\bigodot$ for the secondary, respectively.
Fate of Neutrophils during the Recovery Phase of Ischemia/Reperfusion Induced Acute Kidney Injury
Cho, Wonyong,Song, Jie-Young,Oh, Se Won,Kim, Myung Gyu,Ko, Yoon Sook,Lee, Hee Yong,Jo, Sang Kyung The Korean Academy of Medical Sciences 2017 JOURNAL OF KOREAN MEDICAL SCIENCE Vol.32 No.10
<P>Effective clearance of inflammatory cells is required for resolution of inflammation. Here, we show in vivo evidence that apoptosis and reverse transendothelial migration (rTEM) are important mechanisms in eliminating neutrophils and facilitating recovery following ischemia/reperfusion injury (IRI) of the kidney. The clearance of neutrophils was delayed in the Bax knockout (KO)BM → wild-type (WT) chimera in which bone marrow derived cells are partially resistant to apoptosis, compared to WTBM → WT mice. These mice also showed delayed functional, histological recovery, increased tissue cytokines, and accelerated fibrosis. The circulating intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1)+ Gr-1+ neutrophils displaying rTEM phenotype increased during the recovery phase and blockade of junctional adhesion molecule-C (JAM-C), a negative regulator of rTEM, resulted in an increase in circulating ICAM-1+ neutrophils, faster resolution of inflammation and recovery. The presence of Tamm-Horsfall protein (THP) in circulating ICAM-1+ neutrophils could suggest that they are derived from injured kidneys. In conclusion, we suggest that apoptosis and rTEM are critically involved in the clearance mechanisms of neutrophils during the recovery phase of IRI.</P>
