This paper presents the analysis of the analysis of thrust characteristics of linear induction motors(LIMs) according to secondary reaction plate. LIMs are well known as high speed transport systems, which can obtain thrust directly without gears and links, or auxiliary mechanisms. A simple structure, easy maintenance, and less environmental pollution are advantages of LIMs. In transport systems using LIMs, the secondary reaction plate is an important design factor, because it has considerable impact on the cost of the railway as well as the performance of the LIMs. This paper deals analyzed the characteristics of linear induction motor used for moving the vehicle of container scanner. Thrust, efficiency and load characteristic were interpreted with FEM regarding two models whose material of secondary reaction plate was copper and aluminum. It suggested the interpretation of thrust, efficiency and power factor characteristic along slip and compared the operation ability of linear induction motor through characteristics analysis along the load.

Obesity has become a major health threat in developed countries. However, current medications for obesity are limited because of their adverse effects. Interest in natural products for the treatment of obesity is thus rapidly growing. Korean Medicine (KM) is characterized by the wide use of herbal formulas. However, the combination rule of herbal formulas in KM lacks experimental evidence. According to Shennong's Classic of Materia Medica, the earliest book of herbal medicine, Veratrum nigrum (VN) has antagonistic features against Panax ginseng (PG), and the PG-VN pair is strictly forbidden. In this study, we have shown the effects of PG, VN, and their combination on obesity in high-fat (HF) diet-induced obese mice and in 3T3-L1 cells. PG, VN, and PG-VN combination significantly reduced weight gain and the fat pad weight in HF diet-induced obese mice. They also significantly decreased lipid accumulation and the expressions of two major adipogenesis factors, PPARγ and C/EBPα, in 3T3-L1 cells. In addition, the PG-VN combination had synergistic effects compared with the mixture of extracts of PG and VN on inhibition of PPARγ and C/EBPα expressions at lower doses. These results indicate a new potential anti-obese pharmacotherapy and also provide scientific evidence supporting the usage of herbal combinations instead of mixtures in KM.

We investigated the antihyperglycemic and antioxidant activities of polysaccharides produced from Pleurotus ferulae mutant in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. Blood glucose level in the STZ-induced diabetic rat administered the extract polysaccharides, 250mg/kg b·w/d (EPSG) was 196.97mg/dL, approximately 54.12% less compared to that of the STZ-induced diabetic rats administered 0.9% NaCl solution (NCG). The insulin level in the EPSG was approximately 1.64-fold higher than that in the NCG. HDL and LDL cholesterol levels in the EPSG were 29.15mg/L and 20.35mg/dL, respectively, representing an approximate increase of 69.18% and decrease of 38.52%, respectively. The activities of aspartate aminotransferase (AST) and alanine transferase (ALT) in the EPSG decreased approximately by 49.27 and 50.43%, respectively, while the alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity decreased by 34.25%, relative to the NCG. Antioxidant activities in the NCG decreased relative to the normal group. In contrast, for EPSG, these values increased relative to the NCG. The malondialdehyde level in the EPSG was 12.95mmol/mg protein, which was approximately 70.64% of that in the NCG. These results suggest that the polysaccharides of Pleurotus ferulae mutant could be developed as potential antidiabetic agents or functional foods for people with a high risk of diabetes mellitus.

Background: Whether having a tattoo increases the risk of transfusion transmitted diseases (TTDs) is controversial. Objectives: To identify prevalence and risk of TTDs in people with tattoos as compared with the general population. Methods: A systematic review of the studies published before September 2019 was performed by using the Medline, Embase, and Web of Science databases. Observational studies on hepatitis C virus (HCV), hepatitis B virus (HBV), human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), and syphilis infections in people with and without tattoos were included. Studies that reported disease status without serological confirmation were excluded. Results: A total of 115 studies were quantitatively analyzed. HCV (odd ratio [OR], 2.94; 95% confidence interval [CI], 2.52-3.44), HBV (OR, 1.53; 95% CI, 1.34-1.76), and HIV infections (OR, 3.42; 95% CI, 2.16-5.41) were more prevalent in the tattooed population. In subgroup analyses, after the adjustment of possible publication bias, the prevalence of HCV infection was significantly elevated in the community-dwelling, hospital patient, intravenous (IV) drug user, and prisoner groups. IV drug users and prisoners showed high prevalence rates of HBV infection. The prevalence of HIV infection was significantly increased in the prisoner group. Conclusion: Having a tattoo is associated with an increased prevalence of TTDs. Our approach clarifies in depth and supports a guideline for TTD screening in the tattooed population.

Backgrounds/Aims: Aggressive surgical resection for hepatic metastasis is validated, however, concomitant liver and lung metastasis in colorectal cancer patients is equivocal. Methods: Clinicopathologic data from January 2008 through December 2012 were retrospectively reviewed in 234 patients with colorectal cancer with concomitant liver and lung metastasis. Clinicopathologic factors and survival data were analyzed. Results: Of the 234 patients, 129 (55.1%) had synchronous concomitant liver and lung metastasis from colorectal cancer and 36 (15.4%) had metachronous metastasis. Surgical resection was performed in 33 patients (25.6%) with synchronous and 6 (16.7%) with metachronous metastasis. Surgical resection showed better overall survival in both groups (synchronous, p=0.001; metachronous, p=0.028). In the synchronous metastatic group, complete resection of both liver and lung metastatic lesions had better survival outcomes than incomplete resection of two metastatic lesions (p=0.037). The primary site of colorectal cancer and complete resection were significant prognostic factors (p=0.06 and p=0.003, respectively). Conclusions: Surgical resection for hepatic and pulmonary metastasis in colorectal cancer can improve complete remission and survival rate in resectable cases. Colorectal cancer with concomitant liver and lung metastasis is not a poor prognostic factor or a contraindication for surgical treatments, hence, an aggressive surgical approach may be recommended in well-selected resectable cases.

Objectives: This study investigated quality among three herb medicine extract granules(DSGOST) which were made from different companies to check quality control of herb medicine extract granules. Methods: we selected three DSGOST extract granules which were made from different companies. And we experimented extract granules by method from K.P(Korean Pharmacopoeia), K.H.P(Korean Herbal Pharmacopoeia) of KFDA. Results: In qualitative analysis of DSGOST, we indentified Akebiae Caulis (木通), Asari Herba Cum Radix (細辛), Evodiae Fructus (吳茱萸) in three different DSGOST extract granules. In quantitative analysis of DSGOST, Medication A,B,C contained similar content of Paeoniflorin & Glycyrrhizic acid. However Medication B contains especially lowest value of Cinnamic acid & total Decursin. Conclusions: Herb medicine extract granules have different contents of ingredients although those were made by same prescription. And these differences may influence medicinal effect to patients. So we need to make system of quality control with various research of quantitative & qualitative analysis about herb medicine extract granules.
