        In this study, the new method of element division based on modulifcation which has two kinds of sectors and attributed at each, linked whole area is suggested. Conventional division method has served appropriate to the shape of subdivision degree while the subdivision is needed to conversion step but modulificated element subdivision link method has the merits that it has not need to change attribute of sectors according to the shape and the whole analysis area could be included by simple combination of basic vectors.

        The objective of this paper is to develop two numerical model for predictiong the wave height with set-up/down near the surfzone on a arbitrary beach profile. Two wave models, regular wave model and random wave model, are based on the energy flux equation with the energy dissipation effects. The developed numerical models are verified by comparison of numerical results with analytical solutions that are derived under the simple conditions. The characteristics of parameters included in each model are then investigated and decided to the range of behaviour by the sensitivity analysis. For sensitivity analysis, we carried out total 46 laboratory tests. Finally, the developed numerical models are applied to the field where the wave height near the surfzone has been measured. From the applications fo numerical models, it is concluded that the developed numerical models may accurately predict the wave height with the set-up/down near the surfzone on a arbitrary beach profile.

        This research is focused on the enhancement of capabilities for 2D data representation to the IFC (Industry Foundation This research is focused on the enhancement of capabilities for 2D data representation to the IFC (Industry Foundation of IFC is that it is impossible to represent 2D elements, essential for the presentation of drawing elements. On top of that, the drawing information in IFC format can not be exchanged among the international standard complied formats such as KOSDIC, SCADEC, and STEP-CDS which are based on STEP AP202 subset. The main purpose of this research is to enhance the existing capability of IFC to represent 2D drawing elements. To achieve this goal, the presentation resources, based on ISO 10303-46 and ISO 10303-202, are annexed to the resource layer of IFC2.X. For the representation of 2D drawings, a Layer entity, Curve_styles entity, Text entity, Symbol entity, Hatch entity, Bezier curve entity, Dimension entity have been extended to the IFC2.X.

      • 부산지역 워터프런트의 기후특성에 관한 연구

        워트프런트는 도심 및 내륙지역과는 다른 독특한 기후특성을 가지고 있으며 이를 고려하지 않고 개발할 경우 시설물의 하자발생, 에너지 및 유지관리비용의 상승을 초래하게 됨은 물론 배후지, 도시기후에 악영향을 미치게 된다. 본 연구는 부산지역의 10개 기상관측지점을 해안선에서 거리에 따라 워터프런트 및 내륙지역으로 분류하고 5년간의 기상데이터를 이용하여 워터프런트의 기후특성에 대해 검토한다. 또한 원터프런트지역임에도 내륙지역과 유사한 기후특성이 나타나고 있는 대연지점을 대상으로 기후특성변화의 원인에 대해 검토한다. The waterfront has distinct climate characteristics different from urban or inland area. These may create not only the rise of energy and maintenance costs for facilities located at waterfront areas, but also negative effects on the climate of the nearby inland area, unless these are treated with particular care. For the present study, the climate characteristics of waterfront were examined with climate data of 10 observation points carefully selected in Busan area. Each weather observation point was classified into either waterfront area of inland area, based on the distance from the coastal line. Special considerations were given to the climate data gathered at the Dae-Yeon weather station because it shows the climate characteristics similar to those of inland area although it is located very near the waterfront area. Results indicates that this peculiar climate condition attributes, at least in part, to the reclamation of frontal coastal area.

        신장이식 환자에서 HCMV 항원혈증 검사의 임상적 유용성

        Background : This study was performed to determine the cut-off value and the predictability of symptomatic human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) infection according to the peak value of HCMV antigenemia assay in kidney transplant recipients. Materials and Methods : We reviewed the results of HCMV antigenemia assay (Chemicon, CA, USA) in patients who received kidney transplantation at our institution from May 2003 through May 2008, and investigated the existence and the type of HCMV infection by the medical record review. Patients who underwent the test only once during the episode or those who received ganciclovir for more than 48hrs before the test were excluded. The receiver-operator characteristic curve was drawn and the point showing maximum likelihood ratio (LR) was chosen as the cut-off value of symptomatic HCMV infection. Results : A total of 689 episodes were screened and 134 episodes were enrolled. Thirty-three (24.6%) episodes were symptomatic HCMV infection, 23 (17.2%) episodes were associated with HCMV syndrome, and 10 (7.5%) episodes were tissue-invasive diseases. The maximum LR was 7.5 (95% confidence interval, 4.014.2) and the cut-off value was 29.5 cells/200,000 WBC. The sensitivity, specificity, Positive predictive value, and negative predictive value were 66.7%, 91.1%, 71.0%, and 89.3%, respectively. Conclusions : The cut-off value of symptomatic HCMV infection by the peak value of HCMV antigenemia assay in our study was similar with previous results, although the sensitivity was relatively low.

        New calculation method for 3D dose distribution in tetrahedral-mesh phantoms in Geant4

        <P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>The tetrahedral-mesh (TM) geometry, which is a very promising geometry for computational human phantoms, has a limitation in 3D dose distribution calculation for medical applications. Even though Geant4 provides the read-out geometry for calculating 3D dose distribution in the TM geometry, this method significantly slows down the computation speed. In the present study, we developed a new method, called Moving Voxel-based Dose-Distribution Calculator (MVDDC), to rapidly calculate a 3D dose distribution in a TM geometry. To evaluate the performance of the MVDDC method, a simple TM cubic phantom and a human phantom were implemented in Geant4. Subsequently, the phantoms were irradiated with proton spot beams under various conditions, and the obtained results were compared with those of the read-out geometry method. The results show that there is no significant difference between the dose distributions calculated using the new method and the read-out geometry method. With respect to the computational performance, the speeds of simulations using the MVDDC were approximately 1.4–2.7 times faster than those of the simulations using the read-out geometry method.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> A tetrahedral-mesh geometry is a promising geometry for dose calculation in Geant4. </LI> <LI> The conventional calculation method for TM geometry is slow. </LI> <LI> We developed a new calculation method for rapid dose calculation in TM. </LI> <LI> Regarding accuracy, there is no significant difference compared with previous. </LI> <LI> Regarding speed, the new method is 1.4–2.7 times faster than previous one. </LI> </UL> </P>

        Diagnosis of Herpes B Virus by ELISA Using Simian Agent 8

        There are 35 kinds of herpes virus in macaques, and among them, only B virus is known to have pathogenicity in human among them. Although B virus infection is generally asymptomatic or mild in macaques, it can cause fatal encephalomyelitis in human. Herpes simplex virus-1 (HSV-1) has been used as alternative antigen to replace dangerous B virus because of its high genetic similarity. However, the method has limitation because of its high false positive reaction to other Herpes viruses including Herpes simplex virus-2 (HSV-2). Therefore, more specific and safer antigen is urgently needed to replace HSV-1. In this study, we performed Simian Agent 8 (SA-8) antigen-based enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) to confirm if this antigen has a higher specificity to B virus compared to HSV-1. We collected sera from 136 Cynomolgus monkeys on the day of acceptance and 30th day after acceptance and these samples were tested using HSV-1 and SA-8 based ELISA. In the HSV-1 based ELISA test, 10 and 7 samples were positive or equivocal on day 0 and day 30 respectively. We tested the positive or equivocal sample of day 30 using SA-8 antigen based ELISA test. HSV-1 positive or equivocal samples were tested at The Corporation for Production and Research of Laboratory Primates in Tsukuba, Japan which established the B virus antigen based ELISA. And they all turned out to be negative. The results from this study show that SA-8 virus has higher specificity against B virus compared to HSV-1 and can be used as an alternative antigen to replace it.
